Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 – The End of the Claymore Era

As for the Yoma, with the existence of artillery, they were no longer a major problem.

When Duran returned to the City of Miracles, he found Teresa extremely restless.

The reason was simple.

The daughter she had raised for many years…

Had fallen in love.

When Duran walked in, Teresa was pacing anxiously, completely lacking the calm composure of the strongest Claymore in history.

"That boy's name is Raki, right?" Duran said casually.

He had already known that Clare and Raki had a good relationship. Their becoming a couple wasn't surprising.

"Relax. Clare won't suffer any loss."

Of course, Teresa wasn't so easily convinced.

"When Clare gets married," Duran suddenly said,

"Let's hold our wedding at the same time."

While speaking, he quietly slipped the capsule containing the frozen Claymores into his pocket.

Before leaving this world—

Duran finally saw Teresa wearing a white wedding dress.

At the end of a long red carpet stood Duran in a white suit.

"I do."

"I do."

That wedding became the first formal wedding ceremony on the Yoma continent.

And the smiling Teresa and the miraculous Duran became legally married.

Two years later—

Teresa attended another wedding as a mother.

The wedding of Clare and Raki.

Raki was two years younger than Clare.

Several more years passed.

The Kingdom of Miracles began exporting products to nations beyond the Yoma continent.

With the help of giant swords and cannons, their forces were unstoppable.

The Kingdom of Miracles had no emperor.

Instead, it adopted a presidential system, similar to the United States, with elections every eight years.

The nation revealed to the world the vastness of the universe and humanity's limitless potential.

"No matter whether it's the Abyssal Ones or anything else," Duran said,

"Humanity has conquered the land, the sky, and the sea."

"Next…"

"We will conquer space."

Before him stood the three Abyssal Ones.

"You speak very interestingly," said Isley the Silver King elegantly.

"I believe you can accomplish it, Miracle Duran."

At that time, Isley was the only Abyssal One who still had awakened subordinates.

"You gathered here together," Duran said.

"Aren't you afraid I'll destroy all of you?"

"Of course we're afraid," Isley replied calmly.

"But fear changes nothing."

"We came today to survive."

Duran laughed.

"You're very perceptive."

"You can all live."

"But only if you can endure loneliness."

The Abyssal Ones laughed.

"Don't joke."

"We were once Claymores."

"No one understands loneliness better than us."

Duran then took out several cryogenic capsules.

"These work even better than Poké Balls," he joked.

Soon—

All uncontrollable super-level monsters in the world had been dealt with.

Then Duran had a new idea.

To build a spaceship equipped with an 'Ans-Armstrong curve jump engine.'

(Probably nonsense science, but it sounded impressive.)

Duran sold all the treasures he had collected in this world to raise funds.

With the help of:

Clare, now a famous mystery novelist

Raki, the police chief

He contacted industrialists around the world.

And together they began building the spaceship.

"Clare," Teresa said one day,

"Your father and I are leaving soon."

"You must take good care of yourselves."

Teresa still looked exactly the same as before.

But Clare had already become a mother herself.

"Mom," Clare replied,

"The only ones who need taking care of in our family are probably my one-year-old son and my troublemaking dad."

"I'm actually jealous of you."

"You're still so beautiful even at your age."

"No wonder Dad is completely devoted to you."

"Maybe I should have become a Claymore too!"

"Don't talk nonsense," Teresa said.

"And don't think I don't know."

"Your father has hidden quite a few girls in those capsules."

"No way!" Clare laughed.

"I thought Dad was pretty loyal."

"He has the heart for it," Teresa said calmly,

"But not the courage."

"If he ever tries anything…"

"I'll show him the strength of the strongest Claymore in history."

Clare giggled.

"You're still the scariest, Mom."

It sounded like an ordinary conversation.

But in reality—

It was their final farewell.

"Son-in-law," Duran said to Raki,

"This is a gift for my grandson."

He handed him a capsule.

"It contains a Doraemon-type all-purpose service maid robot."

Duran grinned mischievously.

Raki broke into a cold sweat.

"My son isn't even one year old yet!"

"Don't give him something so suspicious!"

"You also get a gift," Duran said.

He handed Raki his beloved digital camera.

"I've used this for many years."

"When you retire, you can use it as a hobby."

"Thank you, Father," Raki said sincerely.

"Well then," Duran said,

"This old man won't disturb you any longer."

"Bye-bye."

"What's 'bye-bye'?" Raki asked.

"It means goodbye!"

"You should study more languages if you want to catch criminals."

"As long as the criminal is human," Raki said confidently,

"I'll catch them."

"Yeah right," Duran laughed.

Finally—

The spaceship forged from black steel rose into the sky.

Carrying blessings and farewells—

It left the planet.

Inside the ship, Teresa leaned gently against Duran.

Through the window she saw the moon.

On its surface were the words Duran once carved:

"Teresa – Goddess of the Smile."

She laughed softly.

"Your handwriting is still terrible."

Duran scratched his head awkwardly.

"Let's take one last photo."

"Say cheese."

And with that—

The Claymore world arc came to an end.
