Chapter 136 - Chapter 136 Dark

The Alpha Wolf. This was basically Ash's dark history, a title earned due to his Pokémon lineup in another region.

Ash had an entire pack of Dark-type canine Pokémon, and every single one of them was trained into an absolute combat monster. So, among trainers who favored Dark-types, the name 'Alpha Wolf' carried significant weight. However, while the name was famous, Ash had always caused chaos while wearing a mask. Therefore, the only people who knew Ash was the Alpha Wolf—besides Karen and the Hoenn Elite Four's Sidney—were his old subordinates.

After taking his pack of Dark-type Pokémon on a sweeping rampage that stirred up a storm in the region, Ash vanished completely. After all, causing chaos was fun, but he had a business empire to run. He couldn't just mess around forever.

After hearing Karen's explanation, Lara nodded in agreement.

"That definitely sounds like something Ash would do. I was wondering why he was training so many Houndoom and Mightyena back then. But wait, doesn't Ash also have an Absol?"

"Ha, well, his signature back then was Mightyena, Houndoom, and a whole bunch of Poochyena and Houndour. Because they fought so viciously, it's only natural that Ash, the trainer leading them, was called the Alpha Wolf."

Karen laughed as she explained. Then, she pulled Ash aside. "Alright, I actually need your help with something. My family set up another arranged marriage for me. You know what I mean, right?"

Ash looked confused. "With your combat strength, even if the other side used type advantages, they wouldn't necessarily beat you. What do you need me for?"

Ash was stating a fact. Sure, there were people who could beat Karen, but it definitely wouldn't be some random nobody.

Karen sighed helplessly. "Exactly. That's why the other party said I have to find a partner for a Double Battle. I'm not allowed to bring an Elite Four member or a Champion. As long as the partner I bring loses, the engagement is on."

"And then you thought of me?"

"Exactly!" Karen smiled maliciously. "I didn't bring an Elite Four member, did I?"

Ash smirked back. "You're so evil. But I love it! Bullying ignorant newbies is right up my alley!"

"Oh, and they also demanded that my teammate must use Dark-types too. You get what I mean, right?"

"Understood. I'll go call my little Dark-type babies over. It's been about a month since I last saw them anyway."

Ash turned to Misty, Suzie, Lara, and Brock.

"Perfect timing. You guys should come watch an Elite-level battle too. It'll be helpful for your future."

No one objected to Ash's proposal. Just as Ash said, Elite-level battles were rare to witness.

"Ash! Karen!"

The biker gang underlings all stared at Ash and Karen with pleading eyes. Karen laughed and said casually, "Alright, alright, since you guys called me, come along!"

"Yeah!!!"

Led by Ash, the whole group first headed to a Continental Hotel branch to rest while Ash had someone arrange for his Pokémon to be transferred over.

In a massive courtyard in the Johto region, Professor Elm rushed to a specific area and yelled, "Houndoom! Ash needs your—"

"Bark!"

Before Professor Elm could even finish his sentence, a Houndoom radiating a terrifying aura appeared right in front of him. Staring at Houndoom, Professor Elm gulped. "Ash says he needs your help..."

"Bark!" (Lead the way!)

Professor Birch found himself in a very similar situation in the Hoenn region. He was currently standing before a Mightyena and a Absol. Birch knew full well that the Absol was a Champion-level powerhouse.

"Ash needs your help."

"Bark!" (Let's go! To the Master, immediately!)

"Awooo!" (Let's go. To Ash!)

After the two sweating professors transferred Houndoom, Mightyena, and Absol over, Ash immediately let them out.

"Bark! Bark!"

"Awooo!"

The three Pokémon excitedly pounced on Ash the moment they appeared. Ash hugged them all. "Thanks for watching the house, guys."

"Bark, bark!"

"Awooo!"

Seeing them, Meowth smiled and walked over. "You guys are here, meow!"

"Pika-pi!" (We're leaving this one to you guys!)

"Lucky!" (Don't ruin Papa Ash's reputation!)

"Bark!" (Don't worry... We'll bite them until they can't even function!)

"Awooo!" (I will cut down anyone who stands before Ash.)

Looking at Ash's three Dark-type Pokémon, Karen gave a sly smile and licked her lips.

Don't blame me, Ash. Who told you to be the most perfect fit for my marriage criteria? You're not getting away.

Karen then shot a grateful look at Lara.

Thanks for not exposing me.

You're welcome.

Yup... Ash had unknowingly been sold out by his own wife...
