Just as Ash and the group were preparing to move out, trouble arrived. Of course, this trouble wasn't for everyone—it was solely Ash's headache.
"Ash!!!"
Accompanied by a chorus of shouts, a large biker gang rapidly pedaled toward Ash's group and completely surrounded him.
"Ash, you're here!"
"Ash, did you finally start your journey?!"
"Did you tell Karen?"
Ash was calmly answering their questions, but the moment he heard 'Karen', he smacked his forehead. "Crap! I forgot to contact her! Thanks for the reminder! Wait a sec, you guys!"
Ash pulled out his communicator with slightly trembling hands and dialed the number under the watchful eyes of the crowd. The call connected instantly.
"My, my, who could this be? If it isn't Ash who forgot to tell me he started his journey?"
"Sorry. I got tied up with some stuff and completely forgot to call you."
"Oh, you were busy. Well, that's understandable."
Karen sounded completely reasonable on the other end, but Ash knew the real storm was coming.
"I want to see you! Right now! Immediately~!!!"
"Uh, I can't really do that. I'm already on my journey, and you're in Johto. I can't exactly just go over there, right?"
Ash tried to express his helplessness, but Karen just chuckled over the comms. "Oh? So you're saying as long as I'm in Kanto, you can come over?"
"Well... honestly, it depends on my route. You know I have to challenge the Gyms for the Indigo League."
Hearing this, Karen was left speechless.
"Are you just going there to stomp noobs...?"
"No way, I'm just a rookie trainer. It's perfectly normal for me to participate in a tournament, right?"
"Normal my ass. Whatever, I'll come find you myself."
"Hm?"
Ash immediately sensed something was wrong. Suddenly, the biker gang parted like the Red Sea, making way.
"Karen!"
"Yo, Ash. Surprised?"
"More like terrified..." Ash looked at Karen helplessly.
Karen ignored him, grabbing his shoulder before turning to greet Lara. "Yo, Lara. Long time no see."
Seeing Karen, Lara smiled. "Long time no see, Karen. What brings you to Kanto?"
"To sort some things out, obviously. But I didn't expect to run into Ash here. I was originally planning on knocking him out and dragging him back, but since he just remembered to call me, I decided against it."
"..."
Hearing Karen's aggressive statement, Ash and the others were speechless. However, the biker gang looked at her with pure admiration. One girl, eyes shining, exclaimed, "As expected Karen! Only she has the guts to knock out Ash from behind!"
Ash gave the girl a deadpan look. "Misa, there's really nothing to admire about that... Oh, right. Misty, Suzie, Brock, you guys probably don't know her. This is Karen."
Since Ash introduced her, Karen smiled and greeted the three. "Hello there, I'm Karen, from the Johto region."
"The Johto Elite Four's Elite Karen! It's an honor! I am Brock! May I ask if..."
The moment he saw Karen, Brock lost all self-control and immediately charged forward to confess his love. But Ash smoothly grabbed his arm and cleanly flipped him over his shoulder, slamming him into the ground.
"Now is not the time for your nonsense!"
"Ohhhhh!!!"
Seeing Ash drop Brock in one move, the biker gang erupted in cheers.
"There it is! Boss Ash's shoulder throw! The uncounterable ultimate move!"
While Ash dealt with Brock, Misty and Suzie introduced themselves to Karen.
"Oh, I see. One is an old acquaintance of Ash's, and the other is his new girlfriend. I knew it. With Ash's aggressively carnivorous personality, there's no way he'd... Do you guys know what we used to call Ash back in the day?"
Hearing Karen's question, Misty, Suzie, and even Lara were curious.
"What?"
"The Alpha Wolf. Pfft, hahaha!"
