The storm slowly faded over Blackridge.
Rain still fell across the shattered streets, but the chaos of battle had ended.
Smoke rose from broken buildings.
Cars were overturned.
The entire district looked like a battlefield.
Hunter guild teams rushed through the streets, checking the damage and searching for survivors.
Emergency vehicles filled the area with flashing red lights.
But everyone was asking the same question.
"Why did the dragon suddenly leave?"
No one had an answer.
Except one person.
Kai Draven.
Kai stood quietly in the shadows of a damaged building.
His breathing was still heavy after the dragon's trial.
Every muscle in his body ached.
But something inside him had changed.
The Dragon Sovereign System interface appeared again.
[Skill Activated]
[Dragon Heart – Level 1]
Kai blinked.
"Dragon Heart… what does it do?"
The system responded instantly.
[Dragon Heart]
[Allows host to store and circulate draconic energy]
[Passive ability – Strength and stamina increased]
Kai clenched his fist slowly.
He could feel the power moving inside his chest like a burning core.
His body felt stronger.
Faster.
More alive.
But the system displayed another message.
[Warning]
[Dragon energy signature detected by external forces]
Kai frowned.
"External forces?"
Suddenly, voices echoed from the street.
Hunter guild members were approaching.
Kai quickly stepped deeper into the shadows.
Three hunters walked into the alley.
Their armor carried the silver emblem of the Blackridge Hunter Guild.
One of them scanned the area with a glowing device.
"This is where the dragon stopped."
Another hunter looked around.
"The pressure here was insane… it's like something else was here with it."
Kai's heartbeat quickened.
"Did they sense me?"
The scanner suddenly beeped.
The hunter frowned at the screen.
"Strange… I'm detecting residual energy."
"Dragon energy."
The other hunters stiffened.
"That's impossible."
"The dragon was in the sky."
"Why would dragon energy be here?"
Kai held his breath.
He knew one wrong move could expose him.
The scanner beeped again.
The hunter stepped closer.
"Whatever caused this… it happened right here."
Kai's mind raced.
If they discovered his system…
Everything would change.
Before the hunter could investigate further, a new voice interrupted them.
"Stand down."
All three hunters immediately straightened.
A tall man stepped into the alley.
His black coat carried the golden insignia of the Hunter Guild.
Kai recognized it instantly.
Guild Captain.
Captain Victor Hale.
One of the strongest hunters in Blackridge.
Victor looked around calmly.
His sharp eyes scanned every corner of the alley.
For a moment…
Kai felt like those eyes could see straight through the darkness.
Victor crouched beside the shattered pavement.
His fingers touched the cracked ground.
Then he stood again.
"There was a resonance here."
The other hunters looked confused.
"Resonance, sir?"
Victor nodded slowly.
"Yes."
"Dragon resonance."
The alley fell silent.
One hunter whispered nervously.
"You mean… another dragon?"
Victor shook his head.
"No."
His eyes narrowed slightly.
"Something else."
"Something carrying dragon energy."
Kai's heart skipped a beat.
Victor continued.
"Whatever it was… the dragon noticed it."
The hunters looked shocked.
"You're saying the dragon came down here because of that energy?"
Victor nodded.
"That's the only explanation."
Kai stayed completely still.
Even his breathing slowed.
Victor walked toward the center of the alley.
He looked directly at the wall where Kai was hiding behind the shadows.
Kai felt sweat forming on his forehead.
For a moment, he thought the captain had discovered him.
But then Victor simply turned away.
"Search the surrounding blocks."
"If someone was here, they might still be nearby."
The hunters nodded.
"Yes, Captain!"
They quickly left the alley.
Kai slowly exhaled.
"That was close…"
But the system suddenly flashed again.
[Warning]
Kai froze.
"What now?"
A new message appeared.
[Dragon Heart reacting]
[Hidden observer detected]
Kai's eyes widened.
"Observer?"
Kai carefully looked around.
The alley was empty.
Or so it seemed.
Then he noticed something strange.
Across the street…
On the rooftop of a nearby building…
A figure stood watching.
A girl.
Her long silver hair moved gently in the wind.
Her glowing violet eyes were fixed on Kai.
She had seen everything.
Kai's heart pounded.
"Who is she…?"
The mysterious girl smiled faintly.
Then she spoke quietly.
But her voice echoed clearly in Kai's mind.
"So the dragon chose you."
Kai felt chills run down his spine.
Before he could react—
The girl vanished.
Just like a ghost disappearing into the night.
Kai stared at the empty rooftop.
"What… was that?"
But the system interface appeared again.
One final notification flashed.
[New Threat Detected]
[Dragon Hunters Organization]
Kai frowned.
"Dragon Hunters…?"
The description slowly appeared.
[An ancient group that hunts dragon bloodline carriers.]
Kai's stomach dropped.
Because if that message was true…
Then the moment his bloodline awakened…
He had already become their target.
What will Kai do now?
Who was the mysterious girl watching him?
And why are the Dragon Hunters suddenly interested in him?
What will happen next?
