The street exploded into chaos.
Dust and broken concrete filled the air as the three armored figures landed heavily on the ground.
Their black armor glowed with strange red runes.
Each of them carried weapons designed for only one purpose.

Kai Draven instinctively stepped backward.
His heart pounded against his ribs.
The system flashed rapidly.

The leader of the group slowly lifted his helmet visor.
A scar ran across his face.
Cold eyes stared directly at Kai.
"So… you're the one."
Kai frowned.
"The one what?"
The hunter smiled slightly.
"The dragon blood carrier."
Kai clenched his fists.
Behind him, Lyra remained strangely calm.
Almost too calm.
Kai glanced at her.
"You brought them here?"
Lyra didn't answer immediately.
Instead she looked at the hunters.
"You found him faster than expected."
Kai's stomach dropped.
"Wait… you actually work with them?"
One of the hunters laughed.
"Of course she does."
"She's one of us."
Kai felt anger rising inside him.
"You set me up."
Lyra finally spoke.
"I had to confirm something."
Kai stared at her.
"Confirm what?"
Her violet eyes glowed faintly.
"That you're the real host."
The leader stepped forward.
"Enough talking."
He raised his weapon.
A long spear covered in glowing runes.
"Kill him."
The two hunters behind him immediately charged.
Kai's instincts screamed.
MOVE.
He dodged to the side just as a blade sliced through the air where his neck had been.
The ground cracked beneath the hunter's strike.
Kai jumped backward.
"Okay… this is bad."
The system interface appeared again.
[Combat Mode Activated]
[Dragon Heart responding]
Kai felt the familiar heat inside his chest.
Energy rushed through his veins.
The second hunter attacked.
His sword moved faster than Kai expected.
CLANG.
Kai barely blocked the strike with a broken metal pipe from the street.
The force threw him backward.
"Damn… they're strong."
These hunters were far stronger than the monster he fought earlier.
The leader watched calmly.
"Dragon blood carriers always struggle at first."
Kai wiped blood from his lip.
"Good to know."
The first hunter lunged again.
Kai ducked under the attack.
Then his fist shot forward.
CRACK.
The punch landed directly on the hunter's chest armor.
But the armor barely moved.
The hunter laughed.
"You think that's enough?"
He grabbed Kai by the collar.
Kai's eyes widened.
But suddenly the system flashed again.

A surge of power exploded through Kai's body.
His muscles tightened.
His vision sharpened.
Kai twisted his body violently.
Then slammed his elbow into the hunter's helmet.
CLANG.
The hunter staggered backward.
Kai didn't stop.
He kicked the second hunter in the stomach.
The impact forced the man back several steps.
The leader raised an eyebrow.
"Interesting."
Kai's chest rose and fell rapidly.
"I'm not going down that easily."
The leader lifted his spear again.
"Let's see how long that confidence lasts."
Suddenly—
A loud alarm echoed inside Kai's mind.
The system flashed red.

Kai froze.
"What now?"
The next message appeared.
[Dragon Gate Activity Increasing]
Kai glanced toward the sky.
The dimensional gate above the city pulsed violently.
Purple lightning burst across its surface.
Lyra looked up as well.
Her expression changed for the first time.
"That's not good."
Kai frowned.
"What's happening?"
Lyra answered quietly.
"The gate is opening again."
The leader cursed under his breath.
"Impossible."
Then the sky cracked open.
CRACK.
A massive roar echoed across Blackridge.
But this roar was different.
It was deeper.
Older.
More terrifying.
Kai felt the dragon energy inside his chest react instantly.
The system displayed a warning.
[Multiple Dragon Signatures Detected]
The hunters looked up.
Fear appeared in their eyes.
Because the creature emerging from the gate was even larger than the first dragon.
Its wings spread across the storm clouds.
Lightning danced across its scales.
Lyra whispered slowly.
"That's not a scout."
Kai swallowed.
"Then what is it?"
Lyra answered in a quiet voice.
"That…"
"…is a Dragon General."
The enormous creature pushed its way through the portal.
Its glowing eyes scanned the entire city.
Then suddenly—
Those eyes stopped moving.
And focused on one place.
Kai.
The Dragon Hunters leader cursed loudly.
"Damn it."
The dragon roared.
The shockwave shattered nearby windows.
And then something terrifying happened.
The dragon began descending toward the city.
Toward Kai.
Kai felt his heart stop.
Because this time…
The dragon wasn't testing him.
It was hunting him.
