Chapter 37
The Council Moves
The mountain did not stay quiet for long.
After the vampires and witches left, the air still felt heavy.
Like something unseen was watching.
Waiting.
Ariana stood near the center of the cliff, her gaze fixed on the distant horizon. The dark clouds had grown thicker now, stretching across the sky like a slow-moving shadow.
"They are not hiding anymore," she said quietly.
Kael stood beside her.
"No."
"They are not."
He had been watching the sky the entire time.
Not relaxed.
Not careless.
Every instinct inside him was alert.
The Dragon King moved slightly behind them.
His massive wings shifted as he looked toward the distance.
The council gathers its strength.
Ariana turned to him.
"How many are there?"
The dragon answered calmly.
Enough to challenge every bloodline.
Kael let out a low breath.
"That sounds like trouble."
Ariana frowned.
"They are supposed to protect balance."
The Dragon King's voice carried a quiet weight.
