Chapter 23 - Stephanie Brown [2]

Jin was very familiar with that name. In the future, she would become a superhero known mainly by the codename Spoiler, a name she used because she constantly interfered with the crimes orchestrated by her father, the villain Cluemaster.

In the original timeline, she would also become the girlfriend of the third Robin, Tim Drake. Unfortunately, Tim would later be killed by the Joker and, after returning, his storyline would be changed by the writers in a way Jin found extremely irritating.

Overall, Stephanie was a rather unfortunate girl.

"Huh? Why are you looking at me like that?"

After the two of them landed on the rooftop, Stephanie noticed Jin staring at her with a gaze that seemed strangely sympathetic.

Confused, she tilted her head cutely, her face filled with curiosity.

"Nothing," Jin replied calmly. "Congratulations. You passed my test."

Originally, Jin had only planned to drop her on the rooftop and leave immediately. But now that he knew who she was, he had no intention of letting such a potential reward slip away.

Besides, keeping her away from that unlucky kid Tim wasn't a bad idea either.

At the same time, he silently cursed DC's writers for ten seconds in his mind.

"Really? That's amazing!"

Stephanie jumped happily on the spot and suddenly hugged Jin in excitement. A moment later, she realized what she had just done.

Her face instantly turned red, and she quickly let go.

"S-Sorry… I got a little too excited."

"It's fine," Jin replied casually. "I'm not interested in little brats anyway."

In reality, Stephanie was already an adult, and her figure could easily be considered top-tier.

"Who are you calling a brat?!"

Stephanie puffed out her cheeks angrily and raised her fists, lightly punching Jin's chest.

"Whoever gets angry is the brat."

"Ah! I'm so mad! Stop running!"

The two ended up chasing each other across the rooftop

Afterward, Jin gave Stephanie the address of his new home so she could come find him whenever she was ready to start training.

Over the past three months, Jin had purchased a manor as his new residence. That way, he no longer had to squeeze into a tiny apartment, and he could avoid unnecessary disturbances.

"Ah, I almost forgot."

Jin slapped his forehead.

He had originally gone out tonight for a reason.

Since he had just moved into the new house, there were still many supplies he needed to buy. Unfortunately, most stores had already closed by this hour.

He glanced at the watch on his wrist.

Sure enough—it was late.

Thinking about how Harley had been determined to turn their new home into the warmest love nest in the world, Jin sighed helplessly.

He would have to think of a way to make it up to her.

At that moment, he noticed a flower shop on the street.

"Huh? There's a florist still open?"

Thinking of buying Harley a bouquet of roses as compensation, Jin stepped inside.

"Jingle~"

The bell above the door rang softly as he entered.

The interior of the shop looked almost dreamlike. Vines twisted along the walls and ceiling, while all kinds of flowers filled the air with their fragrance.

"Welcome."

A cold voice greeted him.

Following the sound, Jin saw a woman with bright red hair standing behind the counter. She was wearing a white coat and carefully watering a potted plant.

When Jin approached, she raised her beautiful face.

For a brief moment, both of them were slightly stunned by each other's appearance.

For some reason, Jin felt that the woman in front of him seemed very familiar.

Red hair…

A love for plants…

Yet he couldn't immediately place her identity.

"What do you need?" she asked.

Perhaps his super charm was at work, because a faint smile appeared on her usually cold face—something that even surprised her.

"I'd like a bouquet of roses."

She nodded, quickly prepared one, and handed it to him.

Then she said in a very serious tone,

"Remember not to let them wither. Take good care of them once you get home. Understood?"

"Don't worry. I will."

Jin felt slightly speechless.

The way she spoke sounded as if she were entrusting her own daughter to him.

After that, the two chatted briefly, and the atmosphere was unexpectedly pleasant.

But just as Jin was about to pay and leave—

A robber suddenly rushed into the shop carrying a sack.

"Don't move! Hand over all the money!"

The robber pointed his gun at Jin and the red-haired woman.

Strangely enough, both of them remained completely calm.

They even glanced at each other with mild curiosity.

The only person being completely ignored…

Was the robber himself.

"I'm talking to you!!"

Seeing that neither of them reacted, the robber became furious.

But Jin still ignored him.

By now, he had already figured out the woman's identity.

One of Gotham's most famous villains.

Poison Ivy — Pamela Isley.

Judging from the fact that she was running a flower shop, this version of her seemed to lean more toward the anti-hero side.

"I'm talking to you! Are you deaf?!"

"Bang!"

The robber completely lost control and smashed a flower pot beside him, shattering it on the floor.

Jin sighed quietly.

"Someone's about to die."

After all, the person beside him loved plants more than anything else in the world.

Sure enough, Pamela's red hair slowly began to sway, and anger appeared on her face.

The robber had clearly crossed the line.

As her mood changed, the vines surrounding the shop suddenly began to move.

In an instant, they shot forward and wrapped around the robber's limbs.

"Crack!"

A sharp sound echoed through the shop.

The man's bones had clearly been twisted.

As for why he wasn't screaming—

The vines had already sealed his mouth.

They wrapped around his body like a mummy and lifted him into the air.

"What will happen to him?" Jin asked curiously.

"He will become nourishment… for my children."

Only then did Pamela realize something strange.

The handsome man standing before her showed no fear at all.

In fact, he had remained completely calm the entire time.

"Aren't you afraid of me?"

Pamela knew she had basically exposed her identity.

This flower shop would probably have to close soon after opening. Running a quiet business in Gotham was never easy.

She didn't want to hurt Jin.

Changing locations again would be troublesome—but not impossible.

Yet the man in front of her still showed no fear.

"How could anyone be afraid of such a beautiful lady?"

If another man had said those words, Pamela would have simply assumed he was lusting after her beauty.

But for some reason…

She didn't dislike hearing it from Jin.

Perhaps it was the effect of his super charm.

His sweet words actually sounded rather pleasant.

"It's time for me to go. Goodbye, beautiful Ms. Pamela."

Jin still followed his usual rule—

Tease first, then leave.

"Oh… you're welcome to come again—wait… how does he know my name?"

A strange thought crossed Pamela's mind.

Then she noticed the name tag hanging from her white coat.

Her botanist badge.

Her name was written clearly on it.

"...What's wrong with me?"

For a moment, she even felt as if she had experienced some strange illusion. 😶‍🌫️
