📖
The night air was colder than usual, carrying a strange heaviness that made Ayesha feel as if the entire city was holding its breath.
Standing on the rooftop of the safe house, she stared at the glowing lights of the distant skyline. Somewhere out there, hidden behind layers of deception and security, were the members of the Shadow Council—the mysterious leaders who controlled the entire organization.
And tonight… she was going to step directly into their territory.
Behind her, Arian and Ryan were finishing their preparations.
Ryan checked his weapon and glanced toward Ayesha.
"Still time to back out," he said quietly.
Ayesha turned to him, a faint smile touching her lips.
"You know I won't."
Ryan sighed softly, but there was pride in his eyes.
Arian stepped closer, holding a tablet that displayed the blueprint of their target building.
"It's a private research facility," he explained. "But according to the files, the basement level is actually a secret archive belonging to the organization."
Ayesha studied the blueprint carefully.
Multiple corridors.
Security checkpoints.
Armed guards.
It was practically a fortress.
"Which means," Ryan muttered, "we're walking straight into the lion's den."
Ayesha inhaled slowly.
"Then we better make sure the lion regrets it."
Preparing for the Mission
The three of them gathered around the table, reviewing every detail one final time.
Arian pointed at the map.
"Entry point here," he said, indicating a service entrance behind the building.
Ryan nodded.
"I'll handle the guards."
Arian continued.
"I'll disable the security system."
Then both of them looked at Ayesha.
"You retrieve the data," Arian said.
Ayesha folded her arms thoughtfully.
"And if something goes wrong?"
Ryan smirked.
"Then we improvise."
Arian added calmly,
"Like we always do."
For a moment, silence filled the room.
This mission was more dangerous than any they had faced before.
But strangely…
Ayesha felt ready.
Entering the Facility
An hour later, they arrived at the research facility.
The building stood tall and silent, its glass walls reflecting the moonlight.
From the outside, it looked ordinary.
But Ayesha knew the truth.
Inside this building were secrets powerful enough to destroy lives.
Ryan moved first, silently approaching the rear entrance.
Two guards stood nearby.
Before they could react, Ryan struck swiftly, knocking them unconscious.
He signaled to the others.
"Clear."
Arian quickly opened the security panel and connected a small hacking device.
Lines of code flashed across his screen.
"Thirty seconds," he whispered.
Ayesha watched the dark corridor ahead of them.
Every instinct in her body was screaming that something wasn't right.
Then—
Click.
The door unlocked.
Arian nodded.
"We're in."
Inside the Lion's Den
The interior corridors were dimly lit.
Their footsteps echoed softly against the polished floor.
They moved quickly but carefully.
Every corner could hide danger.
Every shadow felt alive.
Finally, they reached the elevator that led to the underground archive.
Arian pressed the button.
The elevator descended slowly.
The silence inside was suffocating.
Ryan leaned against the wall, watching Ayesha.
"You're thinking too much again," he said.
Ayesha glanced at him.
"Something feels wrong."
Ryan shrugged slightly.
"That's because everything about this mission is wrong."
Arian suddenly spoke.
"Be ready."
The elevator doors slid open.
The Archive Room
The underground archive was massive.
Rows of computers.
Encrypted servers.
Locked cabinets filled with classified files.
Ayesha quickly moved toward the main terminal.
"This must be it."
Her fingers flew across the keyboard.
Code appeared on the screen.
Layer after layer of security.
But slowly…
She broke through them.
Ryan watched the hallway.
Arian monitored the cameras.
Then suddenly—
Ryan stiffened.
"Company."
Footsteps were approaching.
Fast.
Too fast.
Ayesha's heart pounded.
"Just a little more time…"
The download bar slowly climbed.
40%.
60%.
80%.
Ryan whispered,
"They're almost here."
Then—
The door burst open.
Armed operatives flooded into the room.
Ryan and Arian immediately engaged them.
Gunshots echoed through the archive.
Ayesha didn't look back.
She kept typing.
Finally—
100%.
"Got it!" she shouted.
"Then let's go!" Ryan yelled.
The Escape
They ran through the corridor, alarms blaring behind them.
Red emergency lights flashed everywhere.
Guards were already flooding the building.
Arian grabbed Ayesha's hand and pulled her toward the emergency stairs.
Ryan followed close behind, covering their escape.
They burst onto the rooftop moments later.
A helicopter spotlight suddenly illuminated them.
A cold voice echoed through the night.
"Well done, Ayesha."
A tall figure stepped forward from the shadows.
His face hidden in darkness.
"But you should know…"
The man smiled faintly.
"We let you take that data."
Ayesha's heart froze.
"What?"
The man continued calmly.
"Because now… the real game begins."
Ryan raised his weapon.
"Who the hell are you?"
The figure chuckled softly.
"Someone who has been watching you from the very beginning."
Then he stepped back into the shadows.
The helicopter lifted off.
Leaving Ayesha standing on the rooftop…
With one terrifying realization.
They had walked straight into a trap.
