Chapter 1 - Prologue

A Second Beginning

Thunder rolled across the jagged mountain range surrounding Kumogakure.

The Hidden Cloud Village clung to the cliffs like a fortress carved from stone and storm. Towering pillars of rock rose through the mist while steel bridges connected districts suspended between the mountains. Above it all, dark thunderclouds circled endlessly — as if the sky itself guarded the village.

Lightning flashed beyond the peaks—brief, violent, and gone. The kind of strike that reminded everyone in the Land of Lightning… storms were never just weather.

For most residents of Kumogakure, storms were ordinary.

But tonight…

A new life began beneath that thunder.

Inside one of the village medical facilities, a newborn child drew his first breath.

Darkness.

Then warmth.

Then sound.

The infant's tiny lungs filled with air and he cried, his voice sharp and fragile.

But behind those newborn eyes…

Something unusual stirred.

His body felt wrong.

Small.

Weak.

Unfamiliar.

His fingers twitched slowly as he tried to move them, struggling against muscles that barely responded.

Then his eyes opened.

The ceiling lights above him blurred together at first. White shapes. Movement. Shadows.

But gradually his vision sharpened.

And unlike most newborns…

His gaze began to focus.

He watched.

The ceiling.

The lights.

The figures moving around the room.

His mind was calm.

Not empty.

Controlled..

Because although his body had just entered the world…

His consciousness had not.

Thoughts existed.

Awareness existed.

But memories did not.

When he searched for them, he found only fog.

Fragments.

Echoes that refused to form into anything clear.

No past.

No identity.

No name.

Only a strange certainty deep inside his mind.

Something told him this wasn't the first time he had opened his eyes to the world.

And now…

He had been given a second life.

A soft voice broke through the haze.

"My son… Raizen."

The newborn turned his head slowly.

A woman leaned over him.

Her silver hair fell gently around her shoulders, catching the hospital lights like flowing water. Her eyes held warmth, intelligence, and a calm discipline that spoke of a life far different from ordinary civilians.

Behind her, a wide window revealed the storm clouds surrounding Kumogakure's mountains.

Lightning flashed.

Raizen blinked slowly.

Even without memories…

His instincts whispered something important.

This world wasn't safe.

And somehow…

he already understood that survival wasn't guaranteed.

Arc 1 — Rebirth Arc

Raizen's first months passed quietly.

To most people, he behaved like a normal infant.

He cried.

He slept.

He ate.

But there were subtle differences.

He watched people.

Carefully.

His eyes tracked motion far earlier than most babies. When visitors entered the room, his gaze followed them with unsettling focus.

Sometimes he stared at objects for long stretches of time.

Not blankly.

Studying them.

Analyzing them.

His mother noticed these things, of course.

But she simply assumed her son had inherited the intelligence of his grandparents.

Inside Raizen's mind, however…

Something else existed.

A dormant structure.

Hidden beneath layers of sealed information.

An artificial intelligence system.

Still inactive.

Still initializing.

Its designation had not yet been assigned.

But its first directive had already begun.

Observe.

Understand.

Adapt.

The entity would later be known as Astra.

For now…

It waited.

Arc 2 — Early Childhood

(Age 2–4)

The Mizunari Estate

Raizen's childhood unfolded in the quieter merchant district of Kumogakure.

His family home was known locally as the Mizunari Estate.

From the outside, it appeared modest compared to the compounds of noble shinobi clans. Yet it still reflected quiet prosperity.

A carved wooden gate opened into a peaceful courtyard garden.

Smooth stone paths curved between decorative trees and a small koi pond where water trickled gently from a stone fountain.

The house itself was elegant rather than extravagant — dark wood, clean architecture, and subtle lightning motifs carved into the pillars.

But the most important part of the property stood beside the home.

The Mizunari Seal Shop.

A separate building connected to the residence by a covered wooden walkway.

This separation allowed business to operate freely while maintaining the family's privacy.

Inside the shop, scroll racks lined the walls.

Shelves held carefully prepared sealing tags, storage scrolls, barrier talismans, and communication seals used by traveling merchants and shinobi alike.

Sealing specialists were rare.

Even average fuinjutsu craftsmen could earn a comfortable living.

The Mizunari shop had quietly done so for years.

Most villagers believed the family were simply skilled artisans who had immigrated long ago.

Very few knew the truth.

The Mizunari were not merchants by blood.

They were survivors.

Descendants of the once-feared Uzumaki clan.

A Child Who Watched Everything

By the time Raizen turned three, he had already begun spending long hours in the workshop.

At first his mother assumed he simply liked watching the ink brushes move across parchment.

But soon she noticed something strange.

Raizen wasn't just watching.

He was studying.

His eyes followed every movement as sealing formulas formed.

Chakra flowed through ink strokes.

Symbols connected into geometric arrays.

And the young boy absorbed everything.

Seals fascinated him.

The balance between art and mathematics.

The way chakra interacted with written formulas.

It all felt strangely… familiar.

Almost natural.

As if some part of his mind had always understood how these systems worked.

Age Four — The First Seal

One evening, curiosity finally overcame him.

While his mother worked late inside the shop, Raizen quietly took a blank scroll and an ink brush.

He sat beside a small lantern.

Then he began drawing.

At first the symbols were simple.

Lines.

Basic characters.

Then gradually they grew more complex.

Connections formed.

Patterns emerged.

Hours passed.

Eventually his mother noticed the quiet child working beside the shelves.

Expecting childish doodles, she walked over.

Then froze.

The seal pattern on the scroll was crude— but the chakra flow within it was stable.

The brush strokes uneven.

But the formula…

Was correct.

It was a basic chakra storage seal.

Her four-year-old son had just created functioning fuinjutsu.

She stared at the scroll.

Then slowly looked down at him.

"Raizen…"

"Where did you learn this?"

He hesitated.

Then answered honestly.

"I watched you."

For several seconds she said nothing.

Then she laughed softly.

"Maybe you really are your grandfather's heir."

Raizen didn't yet understand what that meant.

But soon…

He would.

Arc 3 — Foundation Training

(Age 5)

When Raizen turned five, his mother made a decision.

Watching and learning were no longer enough.

One morning before sunrise she led him into the backyard training area.

The garden pond reflected the storm clouds above Kumogakure while wooden training posts stood firmly planted in the earth.

She turned toward him.

"If you want to become a shinobi one day," she said calmly, "you must build three foundations."

She raised three fingers.

"Chakra control."

"Sealing knowledge."

"And physical conditioning."

"Those three decide how far you go."

Raizen nodded without hesitation.

Training began that very day.

The Training Routine

Their schedule became strict.

Morning conditioning.

Running laps around the courtyard.

Balance drills across narrow wooden beams above the pond.

Chakra circulation exercises.

Later in the day came seal practice.

Learning ink control.

Maintaining steady chakra flow through brush strokes.

Memorizing formula structures.

Inside the house, Raizen also began training within the sealed indoor training hall built beneath the estate.

Weighted equipment enhanced by sealing arrays allowed safe strength training without damaging a child's developing body.

His mother emphasized discipline over power.

Control over speed.

Precision over force.

Slowly…

Raizen began to enjoy the rhythm of training.

Progress came steadily.

Not fast— but consistent.

But something else was approaching.

Something that had been waiting since before his birth.

Astra Awakens

Several months later, while meditating beside the garden pond…

Raizen suddenly felt something shift inside his mind.

A presence.

Then a voice.

Calm.

Clear.

Female.

"Initialization complete."

Raizen's eyes opened instantly.

"…What?"

Silence.

Then the voice spoke again.

"Support intelligence active."

"Host identification required."

Raizen blinked.

"…You need a designation?"

"Affirmative."

He thought for a moment.

Then smiled slightly.

"Astra."

There was a brief pause.

Then the voice responded.

"Designation accepted."

"I am Astra."

The system had awakened.

The Truth of His Bloodline

When Raizen told his mother about Astra, she was not shocked.

Instead she sighed softly.

"I wondered when it would activate."

That night she revealed the truth.

Raizen's grandfather had once been a powerful member of the Uzumaki clan.

But his ambition had frightened the elders.

He sought to create Guiding Seals —

advanced fuinjutsu constructs designed to assist in analysis and support.

The clan feared such creations could become too powerful.

So they exiled him.

Before Raizen was born, he completed his greatest work.

A sealed intelligence designed to grow alongside its host.

Astra.

He placed the seal on his daughter during pregnancy.

So that when her child was born…

The system would awaken within him.

Astra confirmed it.

"Creator identified."

"Raizen's grandfather."

The Projection Seal

Months later, Raizen's mother completed another project.

If Astra existed within Raizen's mind…

Perhaps she could be given form.

Using advanced fuinjutsu, she created the Projection Seal.

When activated, chakra gathered within the array.

Light formed in the center.

Then slowly…

A figure appeared.

A young woman formed from shimmering chakra.

Silver hair.

Calm eyes.

Elegant posture.

Raizen smiled immediately.

"Astra."

For the first time…

They stood face to face.

The Household of Three

From that day forward, life at the Mizunari estate changed.

There were now three minds within the household.

Raizen.

His mother.

And Astra.

Evenings were often spent discussing things most children would never hear.

Chakra theory.

Village politics.

Mission structures.

The brutal truths of the shinobi world.

Raizen listened quietly.

Absorbing everything.

One evening after training, his mother finally spoke.

"There's nothing more I can teach you right now."

Raizen looked up.

"Nothing?"

She shook her head.

"You need more teachers."

Her gaze drifted toward the distant academy towers rising above Kumogakure.

"The academy."

Inside Raizen's mind, Astra responded immediately.

"Recommendation confirmed."

"Academy enrollment will significantly increase host capability growth."

Raizen grinned.

"Then let's go prove Grandpa was right."

Lightning flashed across the storm clouds above the Hidden Cloud.

And somewhere inside Astra's system…

Calculations began.

Because the path Raizen had just stepped onto…

might one day grow into something the shinobi world wasn't prepared for.
