She called out experimentally.

"Miss Kiana."
Ruan Mei suddenly stepped forward and clasped both of Kiana's hands.
"I have an impolite request. I hope you'll seriously consider it."
Kiana's heart gave a jump.

Honestly, Kiana wasn't even that surprised. After all, an Emanator of Abundance would indeed be overwhelmingly attractive to someone like Ruan Mei.
"Please go ahead, Miss Ruan Mei."
Ruan Mei took a deep breath and said slowly,
"Herta is not a good guardian. Perhaps Miss Kiana should consider coming with me instead."
Kiana: ???
This wasn't the script at all. Why was this suddenly aimed at her?
For a moment, Kiana stood there completely dumbfounded, unsure how to respond.
She had imagined all kinds of demands Ruan Mei might make.
What she had absolutely not imagined was that the very first thing out of Ruan Mei's mouth would be an attempt to poach Herta's adopted girl out from under her.

That was vicious.
"Miss Ruan Mei… what exactly do you mean by that?"
Ruan Mei continued at once,
"Miss Kiana, I'm serious."
"I know Herta's personality. She does everything based on interest, and once that interest fades, she throws things aside. If you stay with her, sooner or later you'll be neglected."
"Just look at this time. She had only just adopted you, and then immediately left you alone on the space station. No responsible guardian would behave like that."
"But I'm different. I felt an instant connection with you, Miss Kiana. I like you very much. If you're willing to come with me, I will take proper care of you."
Kiana's eyes widened, but she still didn't say anything.
She truly had not expected that, in order to steal her away, Ruan Mei would go so far as to badmouth Herta behind her back.
If Herta ever found out about this, the two of them would probably start fighting on the spot.
And then, apparently mistaking Kiana's silence for hesitation, Ruan Mei added one more line:
"And I will also help you find your mother."
"I'm sure that once your mother hears news of you, she'll come find you immediately."
