Everybody was waiting for Sabior's father.
Unwillingly at best because Milo would not budge without Sabior, and Sabior would not budge without his father.
"Milo, his father will come. Let's go," Salvar said.
"No!" Milo replied firmly. "Sabior and I want to eat pizza together."
Salvar's jaw tightened as he looked at both children standing on the playground with their hands interlocked.
Salvar stood with the expression of a man whose options had narrowed to one and who did not enjoy the view.
He could not tell them he knew where Silas was.
He could not wait for Silas to appear because Silas was behind a locked door.
He looked at Xavier.
"Do you have a photo of your father?" he asked. "So I know who to look for."
It was a clever move.
Did he know Silas? Yes.
But could he pretend not to know him? Also yes.
