Chapter 323: Shenron = Tool Dragon

RawrSoFierce: "[Image], [Image], [Image] — another group quest just popped up. This time we're headed to the Dragon Ball world, and it's... mildly dangerous."

RawrSoFierce: "Technically we just need to kill two transmigrators and King Piccolo, but nobody knows what else might happen along the way — this is a world where people toss planets around like marbles, after all."

RawrSoFierce: "@Everyone, anyone interested can fight for a slot, but you'll want solid combat strength — upper-tier of the group, at minimum."

Master Roshi: "K-King Piccolo?! You're joking, right? That thing actually got released? Are those transmigrators out of their minds? Aren't they afraid he'll just casually kill them?"

Master Roshi: "And he actually turned the transmigrators into demon-kind instead of killing them outright — what kind of bizarre approach is that?"

Kaguya-sama: "Why would two transmigrators be so eager to flatter and defer to a villain? There's definitely some scheme behind this."

Terrible Tornado: "Either the transmigrators are using King Piccolo, or King Piccolo knows they're trying to use him and is using them right back."

Edward Newgate: "Gurararara, if it's enough to make the Admin actually say 'dangerous,' that King Piccolo must be quite something!"

Master Roshi: "That thing isn't just strong — he could wipe out human civilization single-handedly! My own master, Mutaito, died at his hands!"

Admiral Kizaru: "Ehh? One person wiping out a whole civilization? Seems like plenty of people in this chat group could manage that, no?"

Admiral Kizaru: "Pretty much any upper-tier member could pull it off given enough time. And for the top-tier fighters — Admin-sama, Yukari-senpai, and the like — cracking a whole planet would just take a couple extra big moves."

Master Roshi: "Hmm... now that you put it that way, King Piccolo doesn't sound all that strong after all? Cough, cough!"

RawrSoFierce: "@Master Roshi, by the way — could you crack the moon open with a full-power strike?"

Master Roshi: "Why's the Admin suddenly asking me that? This old man has never gone and done something as reckless as cracking the moon, so by rights I probably couldn't. Though blasting a good-sized chunk out of it — that I could manage."

Wandering Little Planet: "Poor moon, getting cracked open as a matter of routine. As its neighbor, I'm shaking in my orbit."

RawrSoFierce: "Anyway, never mind all that — this quest has four slots total. Anyone who wants in, sign up now."

In the end, Ryū couldn't be bothered to dig into the question of Master Roshi's actual combat strength.

Maybe Roshi genuinely couldn't crack the moon and had only blasted a crater into it, letting the resulting dust cloud blanket the surface and stop Goku's rampage.

Or maybe he really could crack it, but it required a long charge-up, and besides, he hadn't wanted to kill King Piccolo — because if Piccolo died, the so-called Kami would die with him.

Whichever possibility it actually was, Ryū couldn't care less right now. All that mattered was dealing with King Piccolo and putting a stop to his rampage.

Fussing over power levels in the Dragon Ball world was asking for trouble anyway — the whole series had power scaling that broke down at every stage, early, middle, and late.

The early chapters were basically a comedy manga, after all — how rigorous could a comedy manga's power system really be?

Things got even worse once the story hit the Saiyan Saga — Super Saiyan and all that. Power levels broke down even further from there.

By the later Majin Buu arc, or Dragon Ball Super, "broke down" wasn't even the word for it anymore — it was more like the early-series rules got dragged onto the ground and stomped flat.

Compared to how badly Dragon Ball's power scaling fell apart, even late-series Naruto's power creep looked tame by comparison.

Eternally Seventeen: "Yara yara, well then, I suppose I'll put my name in — I'd count as upper-tier too, wouldn't I?"

Kaguya-sama: "Yukari-nee, you're not just upper-tier anymore, you're top-tier!"

Kaguya-sama: "Pity my own strength still falls a little short. I wouldn't drag the team down going this time, but I wouldn't be much help either, so I'll have to pass."

Crazy Diamond: "Kaguya, going from an ordinary person to someone who wouldn't even drag the team down on a quest this level — that's already terrifying! Then I look at my own growth rate and, well, the tears just come."

The Ancient One: "A group quest? Another dimension, hm... I'll join in too. I have a spell that can pull an enemy into a mirror-space — fighting inside it won't put ordinary people at risk."

RawrSoFierce: "Oh? A mirror-space? Now that's an interesting spell!"

RawrSoFierce: "Oh right, almost forgot — @The Ancient One @Eternally Seventeen @I Am Thor, God of Thunder! @Roar of the Evil Dragon. King Piccolo is the evil half split off from a Kami in the Dragon Ball world. If he dies, that Kami dies too, and Kami kicking it this early could have consequences for the Dragon Ball world that are hard to even imagine."

RawrSoFierce: "Does anyone have a way to sever that kind of bond between the two of them?"

Eternally Seventeen: "An evil split-off, severing the link to the original self? Now that you mention it, I do recall there being magic along those lines."

The Ancient One: "I'll look through the texts. Give me twenty minutes."

I Am Thor, God of Thunder!: "Woof! I'll go ask Father — he should know about this sort of thing."

Roar of the Evil Dragon: "My kind doesn't seem to have any magic for this kind of situation. Shame."

RawrSoFierce: "I see... so other than me, Yukari, and the Ancient One, nobody else wants in on this quest?"

Terrible Tornado: "Count me in. My strength should be up to it."

Edward Newgate: "Gurararara, ah well, guess old Whitebeard won't fight Little Tornado for the spot."

My True Form Is Cola: "This lowly member is shaking in her boots. Sniffle~"

"..."

Ryū had no wish to see the Dragon Ball world's Kami keel over so soon — because if Kami died, the Dragon Balls would go with him.

This trip wasn't just about completing the group quest for him.

He also wanted to use the thirty-day window to gather all seven Dragon Balls in that world — their uses were, after all, considerable.

Sure, this particular Shenron was the weakest dragon in the whole Dragon Ball franchise, but he was still a dragon god — there had to be at least some wish he could grant.

Once the link between Kami and King Piccolo was severed, the Dragon Balls on that world's Earth would become the chat group's very own wish-granting machine, ready and waiting.

Which meant that dragon... might just end up as a "tool."

No, wait — a "tool dragon."
