Chapter 324: March on the Dragon Ball World
Once a wish was made using Shenron, the dragon would dissolve back into the seven Dragon Balls, scattering in every direction, and the Balls themselves would turn to plain stone for a time before reverting.
Only one wish could be made per year, since the Balls needed a full year to build up enough energy again.
If a wish had been made last month, gathering all seven again the following month wouldn't summon Shenron — not until a full year had passed.
Ryū had already made up his mind to claim this world's seven Dragon Balls for himself.
What was the point of visiting the Dragon Ball world at all if he didn't collect something this miraculous?
Granted, Shenron's power had its limits — he couldn't grant a wish beyond his own ceiling.
Ask him to conjure up a second Dimensional Chat Group, for instance, and he'd have no way of doing it — he probably didn't even know what the chat group was.
But even with a ceiling, there was still plenty within his range that he could grant.
The Dragon Balls, in other words, were worth every bit as much as this quest's 35,000-Point reward. Which was exactly why Ryū wanted to sever the bond between King Piccolo and Kami — so that killing Piccolo wouldn't kill Kami along with him, and Shenron wouldn't vanish as a result.
"Turn this world's Shenron into a tool dragon. If it works, that's a wish a year, indefinitely. Get the chance and I'll round up Planet Namek's Dragon Balls too — a second tool dragon on the payroll."
The poor dragon had no idea that, in some far-off dimension, someone already had designs on him — plans to turn him into an unpaid intern for life.
The four currently signed up for the quest were Ryū, Yukari, the Ancient One, and Tatsumaki. No one else seemed to have any interest in fighting for a slot.
They all knew the Dragon Ball world carried real risk — even an upper-tier member could run into something unpredictable there.
King Piccolo himself wasn't much next to the chat group's top fighters, sure, but who knew what butterfly effects might ripple out from this?
RawrSoFierce: "Crossing permissions are all open. Since Master Roshi's already a member native to the Dragon Ball world, we'll be arriving at his coordinates."
RawrSoFierce: "@Master Roshi, you're welcome to tag along too — free-ride your way to some Points. Thirty-thousand-plus on the table, would be a waste not to grab a share."
Master Roshi: "Eh? I can freeload Points too? Does the chat group actually have a bug like that?"
RawrSoFierce: "Not really a bug, more like a hidden perk."
Kaguya-sama: "That's exactly how I got such a head start — freeloading Points early on."
My True Form Is Cola: "Another freeloader checking in. I racked up a solid ten-thousand-plus back in the day. Looking back now it's a little embarrassing, honestly, since I spent the whole thing on the sidelines spectating and never once actually fought."
My True Form Is Cola: "Though given how weak I was for that quest, it's not like fighting would've helped — at best I could've handled a few skeleton soldiers."
Eternally Seventeen: "Somehow I get the feeling Admin-sama has more going on than just clearing the quest this time — otherwise why bother keeping that world's Kami alive?"
RawrSoFierce: "Ahem... there is a small plan, yeah. I've got my eye on their Dragon Balls, so Kami needs to stay alive."
The Ancient One: "Found some relevant spells. There are indeed a few that can cut the link between an evil split-off and its original self — though the process may involve some pain."
Eternally Seventeen: "Well, I found a few methods myself. No telling if they'll actually work, but we can just try them all."
Master Roshi: "The Dragon Balls, is it? Ah, I see — I actually have one on me! Is the Admin planning to gather them all and make a wish?"
RawrSoFierce: "Not just once — I want to keep Shenron on retainer, so to speak. You know how it is."
Master Roshi: "On retainer? Ah, understood! Fair enough — the Balls just sit there otherwise, might as well keep them working, once a year."
Terrible Tornado: "Why does this whole plan feel a little... supervillain-y?"
Eternally Seventeen: "Just your imagination. This is wildlife conservation."
RawrSoFierce: "That's right, it's purely your imagination, Miss Tornado. We're all upstanding heroes here."
Terrible Tornado: "Pfft... no matter how I look at it, we're clearly a bunch of supervillains."
"..."
Once his consciousness withdrew from the chat group, Ryū shut and locked every door and window in his own home.
Then, with the faintest thought, he crossed straight over into the Dragon Ball world.
Crossing over during a group quest cost nothing — unlike his last trip to Gensokyo, which had run him a full 1,000 Points.
Not that he regretted spending it. Last night's 1,000 Points had been worth every bit — the first time he'd ever parted with Points without a twinge.
The moment he crossed over, the scene in front of him shifted at once — his familiar bedroom gave way to an unfamiliar little island, a small house standing just ahead.
A sea breeze brushed lightly across his face — not quite hot, not quite cool, an oddly indeterminate feeling.
And Ryū quickly spotted Master Roshi from the chat group — just as unassuming an old man in person as he'd been in canon.
Except Roshi wasn't dressed in his usual Hawaiian trunks, flip-flops, white tank top, and sunglasses — he'd gone respectable for once, in a full black martial arts uniform.
Probably knowing King Piccolo had been released had dredged up old memories, leaving him too on edge to relax into his usual look.
The instant Ryū spotted him, Roshi spotted Ryū right back — the two had already met at the One Piece world's group event, so they recognized each other immediately.
Roshi took a deep breath — King Piccolo's release had left him too unsettled to sit still — and greeted him at once. "Mr. Admin, I didn't expect you so soon. If the chat group hadn't stepped in this time, this old man wouldn't have known what to do."
"My own strength can barely scratch King Piccolo, after all. Even my strongest strike, which might have a shot at killing him, needs too long a charge-up — he'd likely kill me first, while I was still building up."
Ryū shook his head, and was just about to say something when a figure abruptly appeared at his side.
A crisp voice, with a faint tsundere edge to it, rang out beside him: "Eh? Admin-sama's already here? I thought I'd be first!"
Ryū recognized the voice at once — it was the chat group's #3 Permissions Hound, Tatsumaki!
