Chapter 10 - Chapter 19: The Fall of the Predator

Morning sunlight poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows of Han Corporation's executive tower.

On any other day, the golden light reflecting off the city skyline would have been a symbol of Victor Han's success. His empire dominated finance, technology, and media across half the country. The markets listened when he moved.

But today, the light felt harsh.

Unforgiving.

Victor Han stood motionless in front of the enormous financial display mounted on the wall. Lines of data streamed across the screen—stock prices, market indexes, investor movement.

The numbers were still moving.

But now they were moving against him.

Behind him, his assistant clutched a tablet nervously.

"Sir… Zhao Group's stock has recovered another eight percent."

Victor didn't respond immediately.

His eyes remained locked on the screen.

The recovery line climbed slowly upward, almost mocking him.

"Impossible," he muttered quietly.

Only hours earlier, Zhao Group had been sliding toward panic. Investors had begun withdrawing funds. Financial rumors were spreading across the market like wildfire.

Everything had unfolded exactly as he designed.

A perfect attack.

Until the press conference.

Victor's hand lifted slowly. With a sharp gesture, he replayed the footage.

The massive screen changed.

There she was.

Lina Zhao stood calmly behind a podium, facing dozens of journalists. Her black suit was immaculate, her posture steady, her expression unreadable.

Not the face of a woman whose company was collapsing.

Victor's eyes narrowed.

He listened again.

Her voice echoed through the office.

"The Zhao Group has conducted an internal investigation regarding the recent market rumors."

The video cut to a display screen behind her.

Documents appeared.

Encrypted messages.

Financial transfer records.

Internal network traces.

Each one carefully organized.

Each one pointing to a single source.

Han Corporation.

Victor's jaw clenched.

"We have collected verified evidence that these rumors originated from internal communications within Han Corporation."

The reporters in the video erupted into questions.

But Lina remained calm.

Confident.

As if she had already won.

Victor turned away from the screen.

"How…" he said slowly, "…did she get that?"

The assistant swallowed nervously.

"We're still investigating, sir."

Victor's mind was racing.

Someone had breached his network.

Not just breached it.

Dismantled it.

That kind of intrusion required extraordinary skill.

Not ordinary hackers.

His voice dropped lower.

"Find out who."

"Yes, sir."

---

Across the city, the atmosphere inside Zhao Group headquarters was completely different.

The boardroom on the thirty-second floor buzzed with energy.

Executives spoke excitedly around the conference table while live financial reports streamed across the wall display.

Director Chen looked like a man who had just survived a storm.

"Our stock has stabilized," he announced. "Investors are reversing their withdrawal requests!"

A wave of relief swept through the room.

Zhang Wei leaned back in his chair, finally allowing himself a smile.

"The market hates manipulation scandals even more than financial instability," he said.

"Han Corporation just poisoned its own reputation."

Lina Zhao sat quietly at the head of the table.

She listened to the discussions without interrupting.

Her calm presence slowly brought the room back under control.

Director Chen looked toward her with admiration.

"Miss Zhao… that press conference was brilliant."

Lina shook her head slightly.

"It wasn't brilliance."

She placed her phone on the table.

"It was preparation."

Her gaze rested briefly on the screen.

A message conversation remained open.

The name at the top was simple.

Adrian.

Without his evidence, none of this would have been possible.

Zhang Wei leaned forward thoughtfully.

"Still," he said, "we shouldn't underestimate Victor Han. He won't surrender easily."

Lina's eyes darkened slightly.

"I know."

Victor Han wasn't the type of man who accepted defeat.

Men like him only grew more dangerous when cornered.

---

Across the street from Zhao Group headquarters, a quiet café overlooked the busy financial district.

Adrian Lu sat near the window.

His laptop rested on the table beside an untouched cup of coffee.

Outside, traffic flowed through the streets like a living river.

Inside the laptop screen—

An entirely different world moved.

Encrypted networks.

Corporate servers.

Financial systems.

Adrian's fingers moved smoothly across the keyboard.

Han Corporation's internal infrastructure unfolded before him like a map.

Victor Han believed his systems were secure.

Hidden.

Untouchable.

But once Adrian had planted the beacon inside their network—

Everything became visible.

Command servers.

Private financial accounts.

Offshore transactions.

Illegal market manipulation orders.

Adrian leaned back slightly in his chair.

"Corporate predators," he murmured quietly.

"They always think they're the smartest people in the room."

Until they meet someone smarter.

His phone vibrated.

A message from Lina Zhao.

Two words appeared on the screen.

Well done.

Adrian stared at the message for a moment.

A faint smile appeared.

It was simple.

Professional.

But somehow, it felt more meaningful than a long speech.

He closed the chat and returned his attention to the laptop.

One final task remained.

---

Meanwhile, panic had begun spreading through Han Corporation's executive floor.

Several senior directors had gathered inside Victor Han's office.

Their expressions were grim.

"This is a disaster!"

"If regulators investigate us—"

"We could face criminal charges!"

Victor slammed his hand on the table.

The sharp sound cut through the room like a gunshot.

"Silence."

The room instantly fell quiet.

Victor slowly scanned the faces around him.

Fear.

Doubt.

Weakness.

Pathetic.

"This situation is not over," he said coldly.

One director hesitated.

"But sir… the evidence they released—"

Victor's gaze turned icy.

"Evidence can be challenged."

He turned toward his assistant.

"Contact our legal team immediately."

"Yes, sir."

"And prepare a counter-statement."

Victor's voice hardened.

"We will accuse Zhao Group of illegal cyber intrusion."

The executives exchanged uneasy glances.

One of them finally spoke.

"But… what if they prove the messages came directly from our system?"

Victor smiled faintly.

A dangerous smile.

"They can't."

"Because the real command server isn't in that system."

He crossed his arms confidently.

"They only exposed the surface layer."

Relief slowly returned to the room.

Victor Han had always been several steps ahead.

But just as the tension began to ease—

The assistant's phone rang.

He answered quickly.

His face drained of color.

"Sir…"

Victor frowned.

"What is it?"

The assistant lowered the phone slowly.

"It's the Financial Regulatory Commission."

The room froze.

"They're launching an immediate investigation into Han Corporation."

Victor's expression darkened.

"On what grounds?"

The assistant hesitated.

"They said… they received a complete package of internal evidence."

Victor's heart skipped once.

"Complete package?"

The assistant nodded weakly.

"Yes, sir."

"Server logs… transaction records… encrypted communications…"

Victor's face slowly lost its color.

Because only one person could have sent that.

The one who breached his system.

---

Back in the café, Adrian reopened his laptop.

A progress bar moved slowly across the screen.

Uploading…

Recipient: National Financial Regulatory Authority

File Size: 4.2 GB

Every hidden transaction.

Every illegal instruction.

Every secret account.

Adrian had copied everything from Victor Han's hidden command server.

Victor thought it was invisible.

Untouchable.

But Adrian had found it hours ago.

The upload reached 100%.

Transmission complete.

Adrian closed the laptop calmly.

Game over.

---

Back at Zhao Group headquarters, Lina stood alone beside the wide office window.

The city stretched endlessly beneath her.

The markets.

The corporations.

The endless battlefield of power and money.

Her phone buzzed.

A new message appeared.

From Adrian.

Package delivered.

Lina read the message once.

Then again.

A small smile touched her lips.

Perfect timing.

Because within a few hours—

Victor Han's empire would begin collapsing from the inside.

And this time…

No amount of money could save him.
