Solaris's eyes flickered as he charged the demon. He witnessed her body get cut down the middle with her crystals in tow.
The being that accomplished this feat was himself.
He stood for a few seconds before dropping to the ground, his shattered chest rising and falling slowly. His eyes began to close slowly, but before they did, he forced them open with the last strength he had. He hit a small button on a device in his pocket, which would notify Sami if he was injured.
After the button was pushed in, he passed out.

Chains rattling?
The being again?
What is it?
What is this place?

Solaris's eyes slowly began opening as the blur from waking up cleared. He found himself staring at the ceiling, a bright light just beyond his eyes shining into them, causing him to squint and slowly sit up.
Opening his eyes all the way, he found himself in the small room that Sami used as her office and operating room. Looking around, he didn't see her or anyone.
Suddenly, the realization struck him of all that had transpired: the demon, Selen, and the shards.
Glancing towards his right arm, he spotted the familiar sight of the shards tattooed into his skin.
relived solaris exhaled a sigh of relief; his new ability wasn't gone just yet.
Reminded of the battle, Solaris began checking his body for wounds and shattered bones.
After going over the primary locations, he seemed to be in perfect condition, no broken bones, no cuts or even scars, and his concussion seemed to have gone away.
"This must be Sami's doing. Simply incredible."
Solaris was not sure of samis extramicy as hed never bothered to ask, but had long assumed it was something revolving around healing, and now he was more certain that speculation was correct.
Forcing himself up, he dropped down from the bed and headed towards the door before realizing he was still in the gown Sami used for patients. Turning around, he found a change of clothes left on a chair, quickly putting them on, looking over the clothes, Solaris was very impressed as these were not his and seemed to be of very high quality.
It looked like a simple outfit: a black T-shirt and a matching pair of pants, with a belt, and on top of the shirt was a small cross necklace.
Walking towards the door, Solaris wondered how long it had been since the fight happened, twisting the doorknob, Solaris pulled the door open and walked out.
Walking towards the front desk, Solaris saw cedric whos eyes lit up when he saw Solaris, followed by a smile, which Solaris responded to with an awkward grin.
I hope he's not a demon as well.
This thought sent a chill down his spine. Solaris was still on edge from his last encounter with what he thought was a teammate. Walking up to Cedric, he opened his mouth and asked.
"Where is everyone?"
Cedric inhaled and responded as if he had not spoken in quite some time.
"Sami is out getting groceries for food as well as a basic restock for the building. Selen is out today, as she always is on Tuesdays, visiting her mother's grave.'
Solaris's eyes widened as he heard this; a feeling of immense shame engulfed his body.
Was I the only one who hadn't heard of this?
"And Ember is upstairs in the armory, don't let him know I told you, but he was worried about you, Sami was bawling after she found you, and Selen... was also worried, for me, I'm very, very glad you're back on your feet, it was such a..."
"Thank you."
Solaris said, running up the stairs. He hated to leave Cedric, but at that moment, he needed to see Ember. He wanted to witness the expression on his face, the one revealing his concern.
A vindictive smile grew across his face as he thought of the giant worried about him.
Reaching the fifth floor and opening the door on the right of the stairs, entering the armory, walking in, he looked at the weapons before finding ember smoking in the corner, spotting his face in the Ember's eyes widened in shock, and choked on the smoke, coughing for a moment. before opening his mouth to speak.
"That was fast."
"What?"
Solaris looked up at the giant in confusion.
"I would've thought it would have taken more than 6 months for you to heal, but look at you now, only three."
Ember said, then flashed a cruel smile towards the boy.
"three months!!!"
Solaris's confusion switched to shock and amazement. He had slept for three months in that room, and it barely felt like it had been a few seconds.
"Yeah, so let's get back to work.. I am glad you killed that thing."
"I was wondering about that"
"Hmm, whatcha mean?"
"You knew, didn't you?"
"No."
"I knew it, you just were waiting for... wait... WHAT!?"
Scratching the back of his head in embarrassment, Ember replied to Solaris.
"I had no idea Selen was out on Tuesdays, so I was just as shocked as you probably were when you found out."
You call yourself a demon hunter. It was right in front of you for months!
facepalming at the embarrassing lack of awareness of a seasoned hunter.
"Anyway, how did you kill it? It was cut in half, but you are terrible with a sword, so did you awaken your exramicy?"
"Oh, I used these."
After waking up, Solaris could feel the shards, as if they were another limb. It was a weird feeling, but it felt normal at the same time.
Raising his right arm, Solaris began to move the shards out into the world from beneath his skin, before letting them float around his arm. Now that he was in a brighter space, he could more clearly see the shards.
The shards were more pure black on his arm, but in the physical world, they had golden edges and a shiny black interior, almost looking like a blade that had been shattered.
