"Huh?"
The demon looked at the wound on her, moving her vision to Solaris's face
"Huh?"
Solaris focused his vision from the brink of passing out, his eyes locked on his right arm on the demon's abdomen, before moving his fading eyes to her face.
The two locked eyes, both in confusion; neither knew what had just happened.
Solaris moved his eyes once more, looking at his arm.
The arm no longer had any markings or tattoos, leaving it blank. The shards, however, were not gone for good; they just moved. The shards were now placed deep within the demon, taking a physical form and cutting into the demon.
After the confusion passed through the demon's mind, she instantly swung her arm, colliding with Solaris. sending him flying once again, this time, he had time to block with his sword; however, the shards were still stuck in the demon, giving him no way to deal any damage, not that he was sure how to control them.
Flying back, Solaris dug the sword into the ground, tarnishing the polished blade and slowing his speed.
Standing up, his mind was starting to clear somehow, and his vision was no longer flashing or fading, allowing him to defend much better.
The demon began to dig the shards out of her skin and toss them to the ground.
damn what the hell was that? Why did the shards become physical and how?
Solaris strained his memory trying to recall the info Sami had given him about weapons.
Since learning about the anatomy of the demons was a priority, he had very little knowledge about what the hunters used to kill demons, aside from Selen and her claw.
The claw! She has a tattoo that looks just like it.... First ember, now this, I really have to start paying attention better.
It was true that Selen did have a tattoo on her right hand, but she never talked about it.
Solaris had no idea what it was or what he had, so he had no idea how to use it.
But he had to try.
holding the blade in a guarding stance, ready for any attacks, as he did, he began to focus on the shards and on where they had been.
The demon finally took the last shard out and dashed at Solaris, swiping her claw. Solaris moved the blade and parried the attack, allowing him to move past her and get to a better location closer to the shards.
only gaining a few feet, his body finally began to feel the pain from being kicked around, sending a sharp pain around his torso, his body ached, yet he couldn't stop moving, he couldn't stop fighting.
In Solaris's case, it was more just defending.
As the demon quickly recovered, she shot her leg back towards Solaris. He quickly sidestepped it and attempted a counterattack, dragging the blade from the ground and up towards the sky, connecting with the calf of the demon, leaving a shallow cut.
Quickly moving his feet, Solaris was able to not fall; this marked his first successful attack with a sword.
Now, however, was not the time to celebrate; his sword was still in swing, leaving him open to attack.
The demon brought her leg down, landing on it, and quickly moved the other, striking Solaris with a spin kick, hitting him in the chest.
As the foot hit him, Solaris felt a sharp pressure on his chest as a few ribs broke; the strike was hard enough to break stone, and luckily for Solaris, his bones were around the same level of durability.
This was something he had learned during training; the ember theory was that the being inside him left a remnant of his extramicy. making his bones very, very tough.
However, this wasn't helpful now as his opponent was much stronger than him, and his bones.
sliding back, Solaris coughed up blood, his breath became more ragged, and strained.
still having adrenaline pumping through his body, Solaris pushed through the pain and once more assumed a defensive stance, yet this time, when he focused on the shards, he felt something.
something strange, it was almost as if he had another limb that wasn't connected to himself.
I can feel something... no, a lot of things
Concentrating on this feeling, Solaris began to move the items as if he were his own arm.
As he did, the shards behind him began to shake, and soon after, they floated up and began to circle Solaris, as if orbiting him.
Splitting his mind between the objects and the charging demon, he moved the blade and the shards into a block from the blade and the shards into a hail of blades.
His blade collided with the first fist of the demon, the shards stabbing into her body, with a few at the ready to defend against the second fist. That fist flew through the air, headed towards his skull, the shards quickly formed a wall and stopped the fist dead in its tracks
Looking the demon in the eyes, her face suddenly flashed with pain, reeling back from the shards that blocked her strike. Looking at the source of her pain, Solaris's face lit up with a vindictive smile,recalling the shards stuck in her body. Her hand was crushed from colliding with the shard's defense.
The shards floating around him began to move to his will, shifting down to the blade of the sword, forming a greatsword that felt like an extension of his body rather than a weapon he held in his hands.
"This is something you are weak to, isn't it!"
The demon grimaced.
So I'm right, whatever this power is, it's her weakness or at least something she's weak to.
The demon's hand began fixing itself as Solaris charged her.
The chest and the head, that's the target I need to open them and crush the shards!
Focusing on his target, Solaris swung the blade down towards her head.
As he did, she moved her working arm up to block the blade, yet this was in vain; her arm was cut through as if it were made of butter.
In the next moment, the rest of her followed.
Solaris's blade glided through her skull, colliding with the crystal in her head, slicing it in half. keeping the momentum he dragged through to the crystal in her chest, passing through it.
He didn't stop, though his blade continued cutting, only finishing as it reached the bottom of her body, bisecting her, leaving her body into two almost identical pieces.
