"WHY ME?!"
Solaris shouted as a blazing orange fire engulfed the space in front of him.
Slowly, the fire grew hotter, melting the ground beneath Ember's feet. His rage was personified by the flames, their dancing fingers spreading across the sky, brightening the area even more than the sun. Taking a step back, Solaris felt a feeling he hadn't experienced since the first time he saw a demon, a primal feeling that permeated all of humanity. That feeling was…
FEAR.
All other thoughts escaped his mind, leaving only one: run away.
Having a blank mind, Solaris's feet began to backtrack before his body turned, and he broke out into a sprint, having become much faster over the course of his training. He hoped he would be able to outrun the Ember.
almost resisting the urge, Solaris turned his head to check behind him, only to not see Ember, but instead a lot of…
"ice???"
coming to a stop, Solaris looked behind him, only seeing the once beautiful landscape filled with ice, and the fire slowly being put out, yet the fire wasn't leaving without some push back, as fast as the sudden ice appeared, the fire was tearing through the frozen water. melting it into nothing but steam.
As the ice was attempting to control the raging Ember. Solaris simply stood far away, watching, his mind racing with fear and embarrassment. Soon, he finally put his thoughts into order and began to think.
If the fire is ember then the ice must be selen, to think she would be able to contend with Embers fire, is mind blowing, but she definitely doesn't have long, i have to help somehow, but how, i could attempt to knock him out, but that may make his fire hotter and most certainly kill me, leaving not even ash behind, so thatch out of the question.
I could maybe use my mark to create a blunt plate and push back the fire, and that might be able to distract him from attacking Selen and allow her to subdue his flames, but I'm not too sure about the amount and extent of the shards I can call forth just yet, so that is also out.
…There is that being inside of me… I could attempt to use it by knocking myself out, and… it could possibly deal with him, but I can't confirm it won't just kill Ember and Selen.
So that's an option, and the last would be to call Sami and ask her. Maybe she has some idea on how to solve this?
Solaris's mind moved at incredible speeds before forming a plan
Having no options left, Solaris pulled the device out of his pocket and clicked a button on it. He sighed while tossing it to the ground and began breathing in and out rapidly.
Soon he stopped, his eyes grew heavy, and his vision became blurry before going black. His body, however, dashed forward towards the fight of fire and ice; the being was going to enter the fray.
***
Selen's ice was growing across the battlefield, her body was sore from the excessive use of her extramicy, and her mind was floundering. She needed to stop the fire, she needed to contain Embers' blazing inferno, she needed to protect herself.
Running around the fire, as it sprouted up from the ice, and dodging as she froze more and more of it, her mind was growing ever more tired of this game of tug of war. She needed to cool him down somehow. Seeing little in the way of freezing him, she called forth her demon mark. Within a second, a long claw protruded from her hand, and she darted across the field, armoring herself with a thick, dark ice armor.
The ice was hard and durable enough to withstand the devastating flames; although her power was at a disadvantage against his, and her skill was lacking, yet she didn't have a choice in the matter; she had to contain him.
Growing closer to the core of the flame, as she did, she moved her left arm forward, and a large shield grew from the air before her, and soon it covered her entire body. Pushing forward through the fire, she grew closer and closer to Ember. As she did, she hardened her claws with more ice and, turning, slashed at the blooming fire of death.
As the claw grew closer, the blades connected to one another, creating a webbed hand. The claws dragged across the air and, in turn, dragged across the flames connected with the source of the fire, pushing it away, and yet this wasn't enough. Ember as already upon Selen, his fiery fist striking her chest, sending her instantly flying back.
"AGH!!!"
her body launched across the arena, before slamming into a moving object, she was not sent flying again; however, she was brought along with it.
Opening her eyes, she saw Solaris, holding her. Seeing him, she passed out, slowing down. Solaris put her onto the ground, his face brightened by the Embers' immense fire.
His face was by a vicious smile, his arms suddenly darkened into a dark, lusterless black, cracking his neck, he dashed forward with terrifying speed, drawing closer and closer before he was upon Ember, his fist drawing closer and closer, before colliding with Ember's gut as soon as it did it was already withdrawn and his leg shot up colliding with his skull, pushing ember across the ground, yet it didn't seem to affect him. The smile on Solaris's face grew a bit wider.
