The moment the car pulled away from the mansion, the noise of the guests slowly faded behind us.
Alicia and I were finally alone.
I turned toward her.
She was still staring at the ring on her finger, a faint smile playing on her lips.
"So that's why you insisted on redesigning the ring," she said quietly before looking up at me with a smile.
"Mm," I answered.
"How did I not even see this coming?"
I chuckled.
Then she added, "I can't believe Sophie and Ariana helped you out."
"I guess they're just willing to do anything that will make you happy," I said quietly. "Even if it means working with the person who once hurt you."
Her smile faded slightly as she leaned against my shoulder.
"Let's not talk about that anymore."
There was a brief silence before she spoke again.
"I can't believe we actually had a wedding."
"This time, by choice," I added.
She reached for my hand and intertwined our fingers.
"By choice."
I brought her hand to my lips and kissed her ring.
