Claudia POV
I bowed lightly and said, "G-good morning, Mr. Godfrey Gatlin. I am Claudia Reed. Uhm… Ray and I are—"
"—A couple."
My eyes almost popped out of their sockets as I heard Ray's interruption just now. I flicked my head towards him instantly while clawing his arm with my nails as hard as possible to warn him not to screw this up.
However, Ray didn't look bothered at all. He still had that perfunctory smile on his face after dropping that huge misinformation in front of his grandfather.
"A couple? You've gotten bold, Ray," Godfrey commented. He had been looking grim all this time, but his lips slowly curled at the corner after that. "I'd say that your choice of woman is quite surprising. I thought a man like you would prefer a feisty one. This woman looks… frail and delicate."
I didn't know what Ray was planning, or if he was just treating all this as a funny joke. But I didn't want this small misunderstanding to brew into a huge one in the future.
