Looking up, her gaze collided with a pair of beastly pupils that shone like molten gold.
It was Chou Rong!
Bai Wanwan's breath hitched, and memories came flooding back.
The scorching palms roaming over her skin, the rock-hard muscles, the tireless, ferocious assault...
He had practically wanted to tear her apart and devour her last night.
Bai Wanwan hastily cut off that train of thought, but her legs still turned weak against her will.
Chou Rong's gaze was sharp as a blade, a dangerous shadow swirling in his golden pupils.
'He's suspicious of me!'
In a flash, Bai Wanwan's mind raced. She flashed him a radiant smile and met his gaze openly.
Her direct, unwavering gaze made Chou Rong's brow furrow, but in the end... he looked away.
The other Beastmen in the cave were praying devoutly. Only Chou Rong seemed distracted, his eyes scanning every female present.
After observing him for a moment, Bai Wanwan breathed a small sigh of relief.
'It seems Hua Sheng really did cover my tracks. Chou Rong isn't sure who the female from last night was; he's just suspicious of everyone.'
"Hu Ya, step forward for the test."
Hu Ya walked to the stone basin with her head held high, washed her hands, and respectfully cupped the female stone.
The stone, which had only glowed faintly in the hands of lesser females, suddenly burst with a dazzling light. It turned from white to yellow, then to orange-red, before finally settling on a brilliant crimson.
"The Beast God's blessing!"
The usually solemn Clan Witch's voice trembled with excitement. "The tribe has finally welcomed another female with superior fertility!"
Tears welled in the Clan Leader's eyes as he announced, "The female Hu Ya will be granted the right of first choice for her Beast Husbands! She may choose from among the tribe's most valiant males!"
The cave immediately erupted in an uproar.
The males scrambled over one another to profess their love:
"Yaya, let me be your first Beast Husband!"
"I can hunt the plumpest Snow Beasts for you! Pick me!"
"Pick me…"
"Yaya…"
…
The testing wasn't even over, but the event had clearly turned into Hu Ya's personal husband-selection ceremony.
She scanned the crowd proudly, her feverish gaze finally landing on Chou Rong.
"My first litter of cubs must inherit your powerful bloodline. Chou Rong, are you willing?"
"Hu Ya, he's just a foreign Beastman! He's not worthy of you," one of the males shouted resentfully.
"Yaya, I'm your best choice!"
Bai Wanwan watched this primitive and straightforward mating ritual with great fascination.
Thanks to the original owner's memories, she knew all too well the fatal attraction that superior fertility held for the males.
She couldn't help but wonder, 'Will Chou Rong be tempted?'
But Chou Rong didn't hesitate for a second. "I refuse."
Hu Ya's smile froze on her face. "I can make you my first Beast Husband…"
"I'm not staying here, much less becoming your Beast Husband."
With that, Chou Rong turned and started to walk out.
But just as he turned, his gaze seemed to subtly sweep over Bai Wanwan.
He had heard that the Clan Leader had been looking for Bai Wanwan all night.
'Could she be the female from last night?'
'If it is...' A flash of murderous intent glinted in Chou Rong's eyes.
Being rejected so publicly was a complete humiliation for Hu Ya. She glared venomously at Bai Wanwan and hissed, "If I can't have him, don't you even dream of it!"
Hu Ya knew very well that Bai Wanwan was just as infatuated with Chou Rong as she was.
Once Bai Wanwan was sent to the Female Cave, she would lose any chance she had, be it with Chou Rong or the opportunity to go to a Super Tribe.
Bai Wanwan didn't argue. Instead, she returned the glare with a radiant smile.
'Why would she think I couldn't have him?'
'I most certainly "had" him. Five times, in fact…'
'It was just so mind-blowingly good that every muscle in my body is still aching.'
Humiliated and furious, Hu Ya immediately chose several of her most ardent pursuers to be her Beast Husbands.
"Bai Wanwan, step forward for the test."
When the Clan Witch called her name, many of the Beastmen, having lost interest, were already preparing to leave.
Bai Wanwan stepped forward, briskly washed her hands, and cupped the stone.
Hu Ya watched the non-reactive female stone, a knowing smirk spreading across her face, when suddenly…
A blinding, scarlet light erupted!
The entire female stone began to tremble violently, and then, before the horrified eyes of the crowd, it shattered with a CRACK!
"This…"
The Clan Witch snapped his head up to stare at Bai Wanwan, his eyes filled with utter disbelief.
