Chapter 15 - attack in the hospital

Blake walked into Hayden's office, a confident smile on his face. Hayden glared at him, his expression thunderous. "Did you miss your way to Owen?" he growled.

Blake sighed, his smile faltering. "Look, I know you're mad at me, Hayden."

Hayden's glare intensified. "I'm furious. What do you think you're doing, stealing my omega?"

Blake sighed again, his shoulders sloping. "I'm sorry, okay? But we're still blood brothers, we shouldn't let omegas come between us."

Hayden's expression didn't soften. "When you're done preaching, the door is right there."

But Blake didn't leave. Instead, he sat down in the chair opposite Hayden's desk, a smirk on his face. Hayden glared at him, but didn't say anything, focusing on the papers in front of him.

Blake chuckled, a low, teasing sound. "You know I won't leave until you forgive me, right? You barely talk to me, and I didn't mean to have Owen. I just find him adorable, and besides, he's into me. It'll mean something if I don't give him what he's expecting."

Hayden didn't respond, his expression cold and remote. He continued to work, ignoring Blake's presence. Blake's smirk never wadever, but his eyes flickered with a hint of concern. He knew he was pushing his luck, but he wasn't ready to back down yet

At that moment, the hospital alarm started buzzing loudly. Hayden quickly closed his computer, his expression urgent. "Oh shit, Owen..." he muttered, rushing out of the room.

Blake followed him, his eyes scanning the chaotic scene unfolding around them. People were running and screaming, trying to escape the hospital as the affected zombies broke through the glass windows and started attacking.

"Get the men to secure the area!" Blake barked to his team. "Safe the people, now!"

His men nodded, drawing their guns and starting to shoot at the zombies. Blake followed Hayden, his heart pounding in his chest.

Hayden rushed into the nurse's department, his eyes fr scanning the room. "Owen! Where's Owen?" he shouted.

The nurses were huddled in the corner, terrified. "I-I think he was in the OR, Dr. Hayden!" one of them stammered.

Hayden's expression turned grim. "Get them out of here, now!" he ordered Blake's men, who were covering them.

Blake nodded, gesturing to his team. "You heard him, get the nurses out!"

As they started to evacuate the nurses, Hayden turned to Blake. "You need to get out of here, now."

Blake shook his head. "I'm not leaving without you, Hayden."

Hayden's expression was unyielding. "I'm not leaving without Owen. Get out, Blake."

Blake's jaw cliked, but he knew better than to argue with Hayden when he was like this. He nodded, his eyes locked on Hayden's. "Be careful, Hayden."

Hayden nodded, his eyes already scanning the room for Owen. "You too, Blake."

Hayden rushed out of the nurse's department, his eyes scanning the chaotic hallways for any sign of Owen. He could hear the sound of gunfire and screams, and his heart was racing with fear.

As he turned a corner, he saw a group of zombies shambling towards him, their eyes fixed on him with a hungry gleam. Hayden drew his gun, his hands steady despite the pounding in his chest.

He fired off a few shots, taking down the zombies, but more were coming. He knew he had to keep moving, find Owen.

Suddenly, he heard a faint cry for help. "Hayden...!"

He spun around, his heart leaping with hope. "Owen!" he shouted, spotting him cpressed against a wall, a zombie looming over him.

Hayden sprinted towards them, his gun firing wildly. He took down the zombie, and Owen stumbled into his arms, trembling with fear.

"Are you okay?" Hayden asked, his voice rough with emotion, holding Owen tightly.

Owen nodded, his eyes wide with terror. "Y-yes, I'm fine."

Hayden's expression was fierce. "Stay close, I'm getting you out of here."

As they turned to leave, Blake appeared, his gun firing at the zombies closing in around them. "This way!" he shouted, leading them towards a safe exit.

Together, the three of them fought their way through the chaos, the sound of gunfire and screams echoing through the hospital. They finally reached the exit, and Hayden pushed Owen out into the safety of the outside world.

As they caught their breath, Owen turned to Hayden, his eyes filled with emotion. "Thank you," he whispered.

Hayden's expression was gruff, but his eyes betrayed him. "Anytime, Owen."

Hayden pushed Owen into Blake's men's truck, where other doctors, nurses, and patients were huddled. Owen reached out to Hayden to help him get in, but just as Hayden was about to climb into the truck, he noticed Blake was still inside, alone. All the other people had run to the trucks; some of the trucks had taken off, and only the truck where Owen was sitting remained.

Hayden cursed, grabbing a nearby gun from one of Blake's men. He removed his doctor's coat and gave it to Owen. Owen's eyes widened. "What are you doing? I'm not letting you go in there!"

Hayden just said, "I'll be back," as he rushed back into the hospital, where Blake was.

Owen's face was filled with worry and fear. "Hayden, no!" he shouted, but Hayden was already gone, disappeared into the chaos.

The truck's engine roared to life, and it started to move, carrying Owen away from the hospital. He watched in horror as Hayden vanished into the danger, his heart pounding with fear.

"Hayden, please come back," he whispered, his voice shaking with emotion

Hours later

Owen and the others were somewhere safe, protected by securities and guards. Owen sat hugging his knees, tears streaming down his face as he cried. Emily was comforting him, her voice soft and reassuring. "They'll be fine, Owen. Hayden's a survivor. He'll come back to you."

But Owen just shook his head, his eyes welling up with tears again. "What if they're hurt? What if Hayden is hurt?" he whispered, his voice cracking with fear.

Just as Emily was trying to reassure him, the door burst open, and Blake and Hayden walked in, both of them injured and battered. Owen's eyes widened, and he leapt to his feet, rushing to Hayden instead of Blake.

He threw his arms around Hayden, hugging him tightly. "You're okay, you're okay," he whispered, his voice muffled against Hayden's chest.

Hayden winced, his eyes closing in relief as he wrapped his arms around Owen. "I'm okay, Owen," he said softly, his voice soothing.

Blake watched them, a small smile on his face, looking a bit bruised but relieved

Hayden gently pulled back, his eyes scanning Owen's face, checking for any signs of injury. Satisfied that Owen was okay, he smiled softly, his gaze lingering on Owen's tear-stained cheeks.

Emily stepped forward, her expression concerned. "You guys need medical attention," she said, eyeing Blake and Hayden's injuries.

Blake nodded, waving his hand dismissively. "I'm fine, just a few scratches."

Hayden, however, just shook his head, his eyes never leaving Owen's face. "Get Blake checked out," he said softly. "I'll take care of Owen."

Owen's eyes widened, his grip on Hayden tightening. "No, I'm not letting you out of my sight," he said, his voice firm.

Hayden's expression softened, and he pulled Owen close again. "I'm not going anywhere, Owen," he whispered, his voice low and soothing.

As the tension in the room eased, Emily nodded, gesturing to Blake. "Come on, let's get you checked out."

Blake rolled his eyes good-naturedly, following Emily out of the room, leaving Owen and Hayden alone.

The room was quiet, the only sound the soft beeping of the medical equipment in the background. Owen pulled back, his eyes searching Hayden's face. "What happened?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Hayden smiled, his eyes cr crling at the corners. "We got out. That's all that matters," he said, pulling Owen close again.

Owen nodded, his eyes closing as he rested his head on Hayden's shoulder, feeling safe and protected
