Hours later
the group reconvened at Hayden's mansion, the water container truck in tow, ready to execute their plan. They were somber, shaken by what had happened.
Blake's jaw was set in determination. "We stick to the plan. We'll load the truck's water sprayers and clear the area."
The group geared up, their movements practiced. With a nod, they set off, ready to face the horde and test their cure
The convoy of trucks rolled out, filled with the precious potion, and made their way to the designated spot. As they arrived, the group sprang into action, fanning out to lure the zombies to the clearing.
The plan worked like a charm, and by 8:00 pm, the area was swarming with zombies, Hayden's tall form standing out among the horde. The group held their breaths as they began to spray the potion, aiming directly at the zombies' mouths.
As the zombies swallowed the potion, they started to fall, one by one, until the entire horde was lying motionless on the ground. The group's cheers erupted, echoing through the night air. Blake scooped up Emily, twirling her around in excitement. Owen's face was etched with relief, his eyes shining with tears as he scanned the fallen zombies, his gaze landing on Hayden's still form.
The group converged, their faces beaming with joy, as they gazed out at the sea of unconscious zombies. They had done it - they'd found the cure
A month later
Owen burst into the hospital room, his eyes locked on Hayden, who was sitting on the bed, sipping water. Hayden's eyes met Owen's, and a hint of a smirk played on his lips.
Owen's face lit up with a mix of joy and relief, tears streaming down his cheeks. He waved a bit, his voice caught in his throat. "Hi..."
Hayden's smirk broadened, and he said in a teasing tone, "Hey, do I know you?"
Owen's face fell, his eyes searching Hayden's face for a hint of recognition. But Hayden just looked back at him, his expression playful.
Owen turned to leave, his heart sinking, but Hayden quickly got up, wrapping his arms around Owen's waist, pulling him back. "I'm sorry," Hayden whispered, his voice low and sincere. "I was just kidding."
Owen's body relaxed into Hayden's hold, his eyes closing as he let out a shaky breath 😊.
Hayden's arms tightened around Owen's waist, holding him close. Owen turned in his arms, his eyes searching Hayden's face, looking for reassurance that it was really him.
Hayden's gaze locked onto Owen's, his eyes filled with warmth and love. "I'm here," he whispered, his voice low and rough.
Owen's face crumbled, and he buried his face in Hayden's shoulder, letting out a sob of relief. Hayden held him tight, his own eyes closing as he breathed in the scent of Owen's hair.
They stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, the world outside melting away. The beeping of machines and the murmur of voices in the background faded into the distance, leaving only the two of them, lost in the moment.
Hayden's lips brushed against Owen's ear, sending shivers down his spine. "Miss me"
Owen's arms wrapped around Hayden's neck, pulling him closer. Their lips met in a soft, tender kiss, the tension and fear of the past days melting away.
The world around them faded, leaving only the two of them, lost in the sweetness of being reunited. The kiss deepened, Hayden's hands cr cringling Owen's back, pulling him closer.
A faint cough from the corner of the room broke the spell, and they pulled back, breathless and smiling. Emily stood there, a tray of food in her hands, a sheepish grin on her face.
"Sorry to interrupt," she said, her eyes sparkling, "but someone's got to feed the hero."
Hayden chuckled, his eyes never leaving Owen's face. "I think I've got all I need right here."
Owen's laughter bubbled up, and he playfully pushed Hayden away. "C'mon, I'm not a food!"
Hayden grinned, pulling Owen back in. "Oh, you're definitely the best kind of nourishment," he whispered, earning a blush from Owen.
Emily chuckled, setting the tray down. "Alright, alright, I'll let you two get back to... nourishing each other."
Blake poked his head in, a mock-serious look on his face. "Food's here, and it's not Owen."
The group's laughter filled the room, a welcome warmth spreading through the space
The group's laughter died down, and Emily started handing out food containers. "Alright, let's eat up. We've got a long road ahead of us, rebuilding and figuring out what's next."
Hayden nodded, his arm still wrapped around Owen's shoulders. "And we've got a lot of people to thank. The guards, the scientists... everyone who helped us get the cure out."
Blake nodded, taking a bite of his food. "We'll make sure they're all recognized. This is just the beginning."
Owen leaned into Hayden's side, feeling a sense of hope he hadn't felt in days. "What's next, then?"
Hayden's eyes sparkled. "Next, we make sure this never happens again."
Two days later
The cameras flashed, and the group smiled, looking relaxed and relieved as they recounted their journey to the nation on TV. The presenter nodded, her eyes shining with gratitude, "And thanks to Hayden's bravery and sacrifice, everyone's safe now."
As they wrapped up the interview, the presenter turned to the camera, her expression serious. "And to all our scientists out there, please, be careful what you create. We don't want to go through this again."
Blake took the opportunity to turn to Emily, a hopeful smile on his face. "Speaking of new beginnings, want to grab dinner with me sometime?"
Emily's cheeks flushed, but she smiled, "I'd love to."
Meanwhile, Hayden led Owen to a sleek, black car parked outside. "Where are we going?" Owen asked, curiosity piqued.
Hayden's grin was mischievous. "My other house. It's... quieter."
Owen raised an eyebrow, but Hayden just winked, pull him towards his car
Hour later
The drive was short, and before Owen knew it, they were pulling up to a secluded beach house. The sun was setting over the ocean, casting a golden glow over the place.
Hayden got out, stretching his arms. "Welcome to my happy place."
Owen's eyes widened as he took in the view. "This is incredible."
Hayden smiled, taking Owen's hand. "I thought we could use some time, just the two of us."
They walked along the beach, the waves lashing at their feet, as the sky turned pink and orange. Owen leaned into Hayden's side, feeling the tension melt away.
As they reached a secluded spot, Hayden turned to Owen, his eyes serious. "I meant what I said, you know. I've always got you."
Owen's heart skipped a beat as he looked up at Hayden, his eyes searching for the truth. Hayden's gaze was steady, filled with love and promise.
Without another word, Owen leaned in, his lips meeting Hayden's in a soft, tender kiss. The world around them melted away, leaving only the sound of the waves and the beat of their hearts.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Hayden wrapped his arms around Owen, pulling him close. "Stay with me," he whispered, his voice low and husky.
Owen's response was a gentle nod, his eyes shining with happiness
Hayden swept Owen up in his arms, cradle-style, and carried him into the beach house. Owen laughed, his arms wrapping around Hayden's neck as he was lifted off the ground.
The interior of the house was just as stunning as the exterior, with large windows overlooking the ocean and a cozy, minimalist decor. Hayden kicked the door shut behind them, his eyes locked on Owen's.
Without a word, he carried Owen upstairs, the tension between them palpable. The sound of the waves crashing outside faded into the background as they reached the bedroom, the room bathed in soft, golden light 😊.
