Owen face turn completely red as he quickly said he's going to fresh up now
Blake's eyes followed Owen as he walked upstairs, a small smile playing on his lips. He felt a pang of guilt, knowing he was potentially betraying Hayden's trust, but his feelings for Owen were hard to ignore.
As he waited, he took in Owen's cozy living room, the photos of himself scattered around the space making him chuckle. He couldn't help but feel a flutter in his chest, wondering if he was ready to take this step, to potentially risk his brother trust with Owen.
After a few minutes, Owen came back downstairs, looking refreshed in a crisp white shirt and dark jeans. Blake's eyes roamed over him, taking in the sight.
"Ready to head back?" Blake asked, standing up from the couch.
Owen nodded, a hint of a smile on his lips. "Yeah, let's go."
As they drove back to the hospital, the air was thick with unspoken tension. Blake couldn't help but steal glances at Owen, his mind racing with thoughts of what could be.
When they arrived back at the hospital, Hayden was waiting for them, his expression unreadable. Blake's instincts kicked in, his mask slipping into place as he wondered if Hayden knew something was up.
Owen walked back to his shift, oblivious to the tension brewing behind him. Hayden's eyes narrowed as he watched Blake's gaze follow Owen, his frustration simmering just below the surface.
"What's going on?" Hayden asked, his voice low and tight, as he turned to Blake.
Blake sighed, his eyes dropping to the floor. "Something happened," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Hayden's eyes widened, his anger rising. "What exactly happened?"
Blake's gaze flicked to Owen, then back to Hayden. "I... I told Owen I'd give us a chance."
Hayden's face turned red with rage. "Why the hell did you do that?" he growled, his voice low and menacing.
Blake looked down, his shoulders sagging. "It wasn't my intention, but... part of me doesn't want to let Owen go. Besides, he's in love with me, not you."
Hayden's anger boiled over, and he grabbed Blake's collar, pinning him against the wall. "I don't care who's into who," he snarled. "My problem is you always do this, you like everyone I'm into, damnit."
Blake sighed, his eyes apologetic. "Sorry, Hayden. Maybe you should find someone else. You're young, you can have anyone you want."
Hayden's face twisted in anger, and he snapped, "I won't care about the fact you're my elder brother, but if you keep this up, you won't like me."
He let go of Blake, his chest heaving with rage as he stormed into the hospital. His eyes met Owen's, and for a moment, and he turned away, walking to his office without a word
Emily's eyes narrowed as she watched Owen's reaction, her voice gentle. "Owen, did you do something wrong again?" she asked, her tone a mix of concern and curiosity.
Owen shook his head, his expression a bit sheepish. "No, I didn't. But... I'm with Blake now."
Emily's eyes widened in surprise, her voice rising. "What? That's quick! Are you sure that's what you want?"
Owen's gaze dropped, his silence speaking volumes. After a moment, he nodded, his voice firm. "Yes, I'm sure. I've liked Blake for a while now."
Emily sighed, her expression softening. "What about Hayden?"
Owen's eyes snapped up, a hint of defensiveness creeping into his voice. "What about him?"
Emily's gaze was knowing. "You know what I mean. Aren't you into Hayden?"
Owen chuckled, a bitter edge to his laugh. "Why should I be? We're not even friends."
Emily's expression was skeptical. "But you two are close, and it's obvious Hayden likes you. He risked his life for you, remember?"
Owen sighed, his shoulders sagging. "Emily, don't sound so sure. Hayden's never given me any hint that he's interested in me, that he's sure Hayden don't see me in that way."
Emily's gaze lingered on Owen's face, her expression thoughtful. "If you're sure about Blake, then go for it. But don't say I didn't warn you, okay?"
As Owen nodded, Emily turned to leave, her eyes lingering on him. "Just be careful, okay?" she said, her voice low.
Owen smiled, a hint of reassurance. "I will, don't worry."
Minutes later
As Emily walked away, Owen's thoughts drifted back to Blake, a flutter in his chest. He couldn't help but wonder what the future held, if Blake's feelings were as strong as his.
Just then, a voice interrupted his thoughts, low and smooth. "Hey, got a minute?"
Owen turned to see Hayden standing in front of him, his expression unreadable. Owen's heart skipped a beat, a mix of guilt and uncertainty swirling in his chest.
"Y-yeah, doc," Owen stammered, trying to compose himself. "What's up?"
Hayden's gaze was piercing, his eyes searching Owen's face. "Just wanted to talk to you about something. Can we go to my office?"
Owen's instincts kicked in, his mind racing with possibilities. What did Hayden want to talk about? Did he heard us talking about Blake? He nodded, his voice barely above a whisper. "Yeah, sure."
Owen followed Hayden to his office, his heart pounding in his chest. What did Hayden want to talk about? Did he know about Blake?
As they entered the office, Hayden closed the door behind them, his eyes never leaving Owen's face. Owen felt a shiver run down his spine, his mind racing with possibilities.
Hayden's expression was unreadable, his voice low and smooth. "Owen, I wanted to talk to you about something," he said, his eyes locked on Owen's.
Owen's heart skipped a beat, his voice barely above a whisper. "Y-yeah? What's up?"
Hayden's gaze was intense, his eyes searching Owen's face. "I just wanted to check in with you, see how you're doing," he said, his voice gentle.
Owen felt a flutter in his chest, his mind racing with thoughts of Blake. Should he tell Hayden about them? But before he could say anything, Hayden spoke up again.
"And I wanted to apologize for earlier, for losing my temper," Hayden said, his eyes dropping to the floor. "It's just... I care about you, Owen."
Owen's heart skipped a beat, his eyes locked on Hayden's. For a moment, they just stared at each other, the tension between them palpable 😊.
