It's been 3 days since Mari took first place, in the qualifying round of battle board. Honestly I've been incredibly bored. We are winning so far, but I'm itching to do ANYTHING. I found out from major Kazama 2 days ago. Apparently Tatsuya apprehended some armed men trying to break into the hotel.
Anyway it's the battle board finals today. I really wish it was tomorrow already. My events don't start till the day after, but atleast it would be interesting to see my… friends(?) can do. Honestly unsure if I could call them friends. I call them friends but i don't exactly have a great reputation. Then again if they wanted me to not be here Erik, at the very least, would've told me piss off.
"So Ryu, who do you think will take the finals?"
I was suprised. It was Mizuki of all people who asked me. But I didn't let my surprise show. Although Kuro and Sakura would've pointed it out were they here. They went to go shopping.
"Well if the Watanabe keeps up her momentum and nothing goes wrong. She should win."
"I see that's true. Given the margin she's won by it would be hard for others to win, without something going wrong."
Hmm take away Tatsuya and she's the smartest out of the normal cast. If I'm being honest, I kinda forget how smart she is due to her being so soft spoken and shy.
The match started as normal with Mari taking an early lead. But then they came up upon a curved turn. The student from 7th high suddenly accelerated were they should've slowed down. She crashed and was launched forward. Mari tried to catch her, but the water lurched unnaturally under her. Like the water was suddenly forced to go the opposite direction for a second. Mari lost her balance as she caught the student launching both from the course and into a barrier wall. Tatsuya got up and ran down to help. No point in me doing it. He'll handle the medical nonsense.
"Anyone else notice that?"
"Hmm?"
Leo and Erika looked confused.
"I thought I was hallucinating."
Mikihiko was suprised.
"Me too I thought I was seeing things"
So was Mizuki.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure that "accident" just now. Wasn't an accident. I saw the water lurch unnaturally under her just as she caught that other student."
It should be noted while not stated in the anime. The water in battle board flows against the competitors. Like swimming up stream.
"It was a well timed interruption. I suspect that the other students CAD might be tampered with as well. She's consistently made the finals in this event in the past. She would not have made a rookie mistake like accelerating when she should slow down."
"Wait…? Someone is sabotaging us!?"
Erika was mad. Leo said nothing but looked unhappy hearing that.
"Looks like it." *sigh* " I'll go report this to Mayumi after her speed shooting event."
"Why not go before they could try to sabotage her too?"
"They won't Mizuki. If the culprit attempted to sabotage every event we participated in it would look way too suspicious. The results of the competition could be completely invalidated."
"Oh that make sense."
"Well I'm going to head over now. I should probably re assure Mayumi that Mari is okay so she doesn't abandon the girls speed shooting finals."
I made my way over to the tent our school had set up for athletes and the engineers. Mayumi was as expected panicking. Hanzo was trying to calm her down. He's been better lately less of a jack ass. Sakura's one sided beat down probably shook his confidence. Makes sense he was undefeated since entering first high up until that point.
"President please calm down."
"Calm down?! Mari is injured I need to go see check on her!"
I intervened
"He's right president. Tatsuya Shiba has the situation handled. You panicking helps no one. Just focus on your own event."
Mayumi took a deep breath. The other student council members looked at me with gratitude for stepping in. Don't know why they think I wouldn't I'm a member of the council too. Even with all the boring paperwork.
It eventually became time for Mayumi's event came. Kuro and Sakura also returned. The three of us decided to watch the speed shooting finals.
Shizuku was there by herself. That was interesting. Oh right Honoka has the newcomer's battle board event starting tomorrow. Probably wanted to go over her strategies. And Shizuku has speed shooting for newcomers tomorrow as well.
"Are these seats taken Shizuku?"
She turned to look at me.
"Not at all feel free to sit."
The three of us sat down. A few minutes later a cheer went through the crowd. I knew she was a good shot both from the anime and her family's magic. But seeing it in person is a whole different experience. It was absurdly one sided. Hell Mayumi started one handing the generic rifle type CAD to flex. I could see the other girl quite visibly panicking, missing a lot of shots.
The competition was over in less than a minute.
All three of us simultaneously said
"Holy shit…"
"I knew she was a good shot knowing what I know about the saegusa family and her nickname, Der Freischütz. But that accuracy at that speed is insane."
"Wow Mayumi's strong so cool"
"Wow Mayumi-Chan has insane shooting skills."
Even Sakura was impressed and that's saying something. And with that Mayumi won the fist event for First High.

"Wasn't this chapter a little shorter than usual"
Yeah I wanted to make it longer but couldn't think of a way without making it. Either obvious that I was padding word count via pointless details. I'm a fan fic writer I'm not writing a litterary master piece.
"Hmm that's fair. The old man's dealing with something so he's not in this dimension today."
Well that's something. I think I'm going to skip Honoka and Shizukus and events we all know how they go so no point. I want to get to the point of Ryu Stomping named Mobs and then Ichijou.
