The remaining schools were nothing special. I decided to do nothing for the remaining matches, until the finals, that is. This was mostly to allow Kuro and Leo to actually do something. Masaki Ichijou is competitive to say the least. He won't back down easily. We were preparing for the match. It was the open plains stage. We would win, though the fact that the highest level of magic allowed would only scratch me at best guaranteed this fact.
"Alright, I know this isn't much of a plan, but-"
"You're just going to walk through all their spells and beat them. While Kuro and I stand back and take anyone out if they go around you. It's not really a plan."
"..."
"He has a point, Ryu."
Okay, that was fair.
"Either way, since we understand that. Let's go to the field."
As we left the room, I saw Sakura standing outside.
"You guys go on ahead. I need to talk to Sakura about something real quick."
"Alright, we will meet you there."
Leo made his way to the field. While Kuro just smiled and nodded, she then headed in the same direction.
"Sakura, when this is over, leak all the information about those who were involved with the No Head Dragon Syndicate. Let none of them get away."
"Fine~, but you're racking up quite a debt with me. I hope you'll pay me back soon~."
*sigh*
"I know, after this event, we can head into town and do whatever you want."
She smiled.
"Deal."
I made my way to catch up to Kuro and Leo.
The Third High team and their monolith were a good distance away. We said nothing as we waited for the countdown.
*Beep*
*Beep*
*Beep*
*BRRRR*
"Alright, I'm heading out."
"Crush them, Ryu!"
Only Kuro can make such a violent-sounding statement sound adorable. With that happy look on her face.
I started moving toward their team. I was neither fast nor slow in my approach. Looks like Cardinal George is going to try to get the monolith. It's an obvious decision given that they can't beat me in a head-on fight. Judging by the fact that Masaki is approaching me quickly, he's probably supposed to distract me. Fools, this tactic is a blatantly obvious decision.
"You didn't back down. Good."
"My pride as a member of the ten master clans wouldn't allow me to."
"While I commend your bravery, you know you can't beat me, right?"
"All the evidence says it's impossible. However, even though I'm just meant to distract you, I still wish to try."
"HAHAHAHAHA, good, good, but you overlooked one variable. Kuro and Leo are much physically stronger than most magicians. Kuro can easily dodge George's Invisible bullet. And Leo, he built like a brick wall, the invisible bullet won't take him out either. I'll give you one minute before I take you out. I won't make any move to attack. Try your best.
He didn't answer and just started casting Air Bullet all around me. The bullets of compressed air slammed into me. I was unharmed until about the 50-second mark. When one of a higher strength slammed into me.
*oof*
It actually knocked me back a bit, but I quickly recovered. I then started dodging his air bullets. He looked desperate to take me down. Probably because no announcement of the match being over indicated that George had been taken down. Technically, what he just did violated the rules, but I said nothing, and the refs didn't call the match. Must be some fools who are about to lose their jobs.
"1 Minute up Ichijou."
I suddenly stopped dodging. Time seemed to slow as the air bullets approached me. I then used Arcane Dragon's Hegemony. A Blast of psions emanated outward. The air bullets were stopped by the burst. The light rapidly approached him he barely got a defensive spell up, but it wasn't enough. He was blasted back by my spell and was knocked out. I was about to move towards their monolith when suddenly.
*WRRRR*
The siren signaling the end of the match sounded. The last guy on their team was basically a filler, so he surrendered.
*sigh*
"Well, I guess no more fun for me."
I made my way back where Kuro and Leo were. George was knocked out. Judging from how he was planted into the ground and the slap mark on Leo's face. Seems Leo got him while Kuro had him tied up.
"Well, all's well that ends well lets head back to the base and celebrate."
