Maya's POV
The scream came first.
Not a human scream. Something worse. Something that belonged to a creature made of teeth and hunger and pure nightmare fuel.
Maya was in the medical tent helping Nina prepare bandages when the alarm bells started ringing. Loud. Desperate. Wrong.
"No," Nina whispered, dropping her supplies. "Not now. Not during preparation week."
But the monsters didn't care about preparation. They never did.
Maya ran toward the noise instead of away like a normal person would. Kaden always said she had a death wish. Maybe he was right. She burst out of the tent and her heart nearly stopped.
The north wall was breached.
Twenty feet of solid concrete just... gone. And pouring through the gap were creatures that looked like they crawled out of hell itself. Red eyes burning. Skin that moved wrong. Claws like curved swords. At least thirty of them. Maybe more.
