The ancient door swung open wider.
The mysterious Person stepped through, his black eyes sweeping the chamber in an instant, missing nothing. As always, the shadows around him seemed deeper, darker, more present than they should be. His face showed nothing... no emotion, no expression, no hint of what lay behind those endless eyes. He was a void in human form.
Mysterious Person: "You started without me."
Old Man: without looking up, "you were late."
Mysterious Person: "I'm always late. It's part of my charm."
Old Man: "You have no charm."
Mysterious Person: "Exactly. Which makes my lateness even more impressive."
His voice was calm, flat, empty. His face never moved.
He moved past the Old Man, toward Ruo and Kent. Those endless black eyes studied them both... observing, analyzing, calculating.
Mysterious Person: "you've chosen your paths. Good. Hard. The only kind worth taking."
He crouched beside Ruo first.
Mysterious person: "The path will hurt. Everyday. The pain never stops."
Ruo: meeting his eyes, "Did yours dtop?"
Mysterious Person: "No."
Ruo: "Then how do you keep going?"
Mysterious Person: "The pain is still there. It no longer bother me."
Ruo: "How?"
Mysterious Person: "Pain is just a sensation. It only hurts when you attach suffering to it. I learned to feel without suffering. You will too. Or you won't. The path doesn't care either way."
He moved to kent.
Mysterious Person: "You chose a second awakening. I chose that too. Before sacrifice."
Kent: widening eyes, "You walked both paths?"
Mysterious person: "Second awakening first. It gave the space... room to hold power more than any being should hold. Then sacrifice."
Kent: "What did you sacrifice?"
Mysterious person: "Everything. Or so I thought at the time." His voice was flat, empty. "But sacrifice is never the end. It is only the beginning."
Kent: "What came after?"
The Mysterious Person was silent for a long moment. His black eyes stared at nothing. His face revealed nothing.
Mysterious person: "The eighth path."
The chamber went absolutely silent.
Ruo: "The eighth path?"
Mysterious Person: "Seven for this world. Seven for most. But there is an eighth."
Ruo: "We've never heard of it. The omniranker never mentioned it. The Old Man never..."
Mysterious Person: "No one knows of it. No one speaks of it. It is not written on any tablet you have seen. It is not recorded in any memory you possess."
Kent: "Then how do you know?"
The Mysterious Person looked at him. Those black eyes. That expressionless face.
Mysterious Person: "Because I walked it. After sacrifice. After I had given everything. The eighth path opened to me."
Ruo: quietly, "Did it choose you?"
The question hung in the air like smoke.
The Mysterious Person was silent for a long moment. When he spoke, his voice was flat, empty, but somehow final.
Mysterious person: "No."
Ruo: "No?"
Mysterious Person: "I chose it. The path does not choose its walkers. Walkers choose their paths."
Kent: "But the other paths... the seven... they were presented to us. We chose what was given."
Mysterious Person: "The seven are known. they are mapped. they wait for those who seek them. the eighth is different."
Ruo: "Different how?"
Mysterious Person: "The eighth does not wait. It does not present itself. It must be claimed. And only those who are willing to pay its price can claim it."
He reached into his cloak and withdrew something. A tablet... ancient, pulsing with faint dark light, different from the seven Ruo had seen. It seemed to drink the golden light around it.
Mysterious Person: "This is the eighth tablet. Betrayal. Disloyalty. Treachery. It has many names."
Ruo: whispered, "you have it."
Mysterious Person: "I chose to obtain it. I chose to study it. I chose to take one step."
Kent: "One step?"
Mysterious Person: "Walking a path is not a single act. It is a series of choices. I have made the first choice. The first step. The moment of betrayal."
Ruo: "The person you told us about. The one in this world. The one you..."
Mysterious Person: "Yes."
Kent: "That was the first step?"
Mysterious Person: "That was the first step. The choice. The moment I became what i am."
Ruo: "I don't understand. You talk about betrayal like it's a path. But you also talk about loyalty!"
The Mysterious Person turned those black eyes toward Ruo. His face showed nothing.
Mysterious Person: "Loyalty to others is betrayal to oneself. Every moment you choose another over yourself, you betray your own desires, your own needs, your own path."
Kent: "And the other side?"
Mysterious Person: "Betrayal to others is loyalty to oneself. When you choose yourself over another, you are loyal to your own survival, your own goals, your own truth."
Ruo: "So there's no right choice?"
Mysterious Person: "There is only choice. And the weight that follows."
Kent: "Which side are you on?"
The Mysterious Person was silent for a long moment. His black eyes stared into nothing. his face revealed nothing.
Mysterious Person: "Both. Neither. I am the space between. The war without end. And I chose to be there. No one chose for me."
Ruo: "You said your world measures power differently. Attainment levels. Not just cores."
The Mysterious Person looked at him. Those black eyes. That expressionless face.
Mysterious Person: "Yes."
Kent: "Can you explain it?"
The Mysterious person was silent for a moment. Then he moved to the center of the chamber, and everyone gathered closer.
Mysterious Person: "In World Two, power is not just about cores. It is about attainment... the depth of your connection to your innate ability. There are three levels. Fifteen stages."
Ruo: "Fifteen?"
Mysterious Person: "Yes."
He raised his hand, and shadows formed in the air... shaping themselves into words, into a list.
Level One: The Foundation.
Stage 1: Commoner.
Stage 2: Knight.
Stage 3: Baron/Count.
Stage 4: Lord.
Stage 5: Duke.
Level Two: The Mastery.
Stage 6: Monarch.
Stage 7: King.
Stage 8: Emperor.
Stage 9: Conqueror.
Stage 10: Sage.
Level Three: The Transcendent.
stage 11: Architect.
Stage 12: The Void.
Stage 13: The Absolute.
Stage 14: The Origin [The Monad].
stage 15: The Silent Beyond.
Kent: "These stages... they go beyond anything we have here."
Mysterious Person: "World Two is ranked second for a reason. Half of the members in the Sovereign Omniverse are from World Two."
Ruo: quietly, "Where are you?"
The Mysterious Person looked at him. The shadows faded.
mysterious Person: "Supreme Grandmaster. Peak Emperor. nearing Conqueror."
Kent: "That's... incredibly high!"
Mysterious Person: "In my world, the Emperor is rare. Conqueror is extremely rare. Sage is a legend. Architect is myth."
Ruo: "And you're twenty-five."
Mysterious person: "I awakened at six. I have had nineteen years to climb. Everyday. every moment. Without rest."
Kent: "What does Peak Emperor mean?"
Mysterious person: "It means my power anticipated my will. It moves before I command. It protects before I know there is danger."
Ruo: "And your nature path? The one you were born with?"
The Mysterious person was silent for a long moment.
Mysterious Person: "Loyalty."
The word hung in the air, heavy with irony.
Kent: "Loyalty? But you just said... loyalty to others is betrayal to yourself. And you chose betrayal."
Mysterious person: "Loyalty is my nature. Betrayal was my action. I chose both. They are not contradictions... they are a war I chose to fight."
Ruo: "A war inside you?"
Mysterious person: "Everyday. Every moment. My nature pulls me toward loyalty. My action pulled me toward betrayal. I stand in the middle, feeling both, choosing neither completely."
Kent: "That sounds exhusting."
Mysterious Person: "It is what it is. I chose this. No one chose for me."
Ruo: "And fate? Destiny? Didn't they lead you to that moment?"
The Mysterious Person turned those black eyes toward Ruo. The emptiness in them seemed absolute.
Mysterious Person: "Fate observes. It does not command. Not me."
kent: "What does that mean?"
Mysterious Person: "It means my choices are my own. Nothing and no one interferes in my way. Note fate. Not destiny. Not the sovereign Omniverse. Only my will."
Ruo: "You chose the eighth path. No one chose it for you."
Mysterious Person: "Correct."
Ruo: "Then why?"
The Mysterious Person was silent for a long moment.
Mysterious Person: "Because I could. Because no force in existence could stop me. Because my choices are mine alone. In a world of one percent, I am the one who chooses."
Somewhere in a realm.
The Judgement Board hung in a realm between realms... a vast slab of ancient stone, covered in names that pulsed with light. Each name represented a bounty. Each bounty represented a life marked for hunting.
The Golden God and Silver Goddess stood before it, their divine forms dimmed in this sacred space.
Golden God: stepping forward, "Judgement Board. Hear our plea."
The Board rippled. Names flickered. A voice emerged... not from the Board, but from everywhere and nowhere, ancient and implacable.
Board: "State your target."
Golden God: "We don't know his name."
Board: "Then describe him."
Silver Goddess: "He is called the Mysterious Person. He walks in shadow. His eyes are black... endless, bottomless abyss. He commands what he should not. He sees what cannot seen."
The Board was silent for a long moment. Longer than usual. The names on its surface flickered, shifted, rearranged themselves.
Golden God: "What's happening?"
The Board pulsed... once, twice, three times. Then it spoke, and its voice was different. Quieter. Almost... afraid.
Board: "The rankings... have changed."
Silver Goddess: "Changed? How?"
The Board's surface rippled. Names rose and fell. The top of the board... the most wanted, the most dangerous, the most hunted... began to shift.
Golden God: "The Ruler of World Four... he's moving down?"
Board: "Second position now. The King of Evil of World One Hundred Thirty-Four also falls to third."
Silver Goddess: "Then who..."
A new name appeared at the very top.
Not a name.
A blank space.
Empty. Waiting. Hungry.
Board: "The first position is now held by the one you seek. The blank. The nameless. The Mysterious Person."
Silence.
Absolute, crushing silence.
Golden God: whispered, "He's... number one?"
Board: "He has always been number one. The Board simply could not see him until now. He allowed himself to be seen."
Silver Goddess: "Allowed?"
Board: "He chose to appear. He chooses everything."
The Golden God and Silver Goddess stood frozen, staring at the blank space at the top of the Judgement Board.
Golden God: "What about the Eternal Demon? The Ruler of World Four? How did he take first from him?"
Board: "The Eternal Demon is... different. He does not seek the top. He does not care about bounties or rankings. He has what he wants."
Silver Goddess: "And what's that?
Board: "Eternal life. Given to him by the one whose name is blank."
Their eyes widened.
Golden God: "The Mysterious Person gave the Eternal Demon eternal life.?"
Board: "They worked together. In ages past. The Demon could not have achieved eternity without him."
Silver Goddess: "And now he's second. Below the Mysterious Person."
Board: "The Eternal Demon does not care about rankings. He never did. He has what he wanted."
Golden God: "What about... the other? The one who came to stop the Demon?"
The Board went silent. The temperature dropped.
Board: "You speak of things that should not be spoken. That name is forbidden. To speak of it is to invite its attention."
Silver Goddess: "But it happened. They came. They stopped the Demon."
Board: "They came. They acted. They left. That is all that can be said. To say more is to risk everything."
The Golden God and Silver Goddess exchanged a frightened glance.
Golden God: "We understand."
Silver goddess: "And the Demon now? He's contained?"
Board: "He rules World Four. He is satisfied. He does not seek more. The one who came ensured it."
Golden God: "The Mysterious Person?"
Board: "The Mysterious Person convinced the omniranker to assign ranks to top worlds. He created an order where there was chaos. He gave the Demon a place... World Four... and the Demon accepted it."
Silver Goddess: "And World Seventeen? That orphan world?"
Board: "Part of the same arrangement. The Mysterious Person ensured it was ranked, protected, watched."
Golden God: "Why would he do all this?"
The Board was silent for a long moment.
Board: "Because of the Regulator."
Golden God: "The Regulator? That's a myth. A legend told to frighten children."
Board: "The Regulator is not a myth. The Regulator is the most dangerous position in all of existence."
Silver Goddess: "What is it?"
Board: "A single being. One only in all the omniverse, across all worlds, across all time... there can only be one Regulator at any moment. He exists beyond the rulers. Beyond the Sovereign Omniverse. Beyond everything."
Golden God: "Beyond everything?"
Board: "The Regulator does not rule. He regulate. He maintain balance. He ensures that no power grows too great, no world consumes another, no force upsets the fundamental order of existence."
Silver Goddess: "And this is real?"
Board: "In billions of years, only one being ever reached that position. The first Regulator. And when he did..."
Golden God: "What happened?"
Board: "He was assassinated. By a joint mission. Every superpower that existed at that time united for the first and only one time in history... to kill the Regulator."
Silver Goddess: "Why?"
