High-Dimensional Observation Space.
No up. No down. Only countless crystal screens floating in the void — each one reflecting the birth and death of a parallel universe in real time.
The Watcher, Uatu, stood among them.
His planet-sized body trembled. In those piercing white eyes — for the first time in billions of years — terror.
Shattering the Dimensional Wall. Barging into the absolutely neutral Observation Domain. Something even multiverse-level demon gods had never achieved.
CRACK—!
The "unbreakable" barrier shattered like cheap glass.
Starlight and golden gears crashed through — a dimensional storm that overturned tens of thousands of crystal screens. Universe-histories flickered and died under the impact.
The light cleared.
Jake — human form, floating in the bizarre space, patting non-existent dust from his jacket. Looking up at the ridiculously massive blue bald giant.
"You—" Uatu's voice was a great bell shaking reality. "Variable! You are violating the Multiverse Observation Protocol! You should NOT be here!"
"Not only am I here — I'm collecting interest."
The Omnitrix flashed green. Even outside Alien X, the expanded computing core gave Jake absolute authority in a space composed of spirit and law.
"Get — DOWN HERE!"
Jake grabbed the void with five fingers.
BZZZ—!
The high-dimensional laws rewrote. Uatu's planet-sized conceptual body shrank — uncontrollably, frantically — compressing from cosmic scale to an ordinary bald man, just over two meters, wearing a blue cloak.
"NO! My conceptual projection—!"
Before he could stabilize—
Whoosh!
Jake teleported. Grabbed the Watcher's cloak collar. Lifted the ancient cosmic god off his feet.
"What are you looking at?"
"PRESUMPTUOUS!"
Uatu — the being who'd witnessed the destruction and rebirth of countless universes, who'd fought Infinite Ultron to a standstill — was being held by the collar by a human.
He reached for cosmic energy—
SLAP!
Jake backhanded him across the bald head. The crack echoed through the observation space.
Uatu froze.
Tens of billions of years old. First time slapped.
"I was down there working my ass off — burning every resource I had to kill that robot. Then I stitched your universe back together. For free."
Jake held him by the collar, expression pure street-thug collecting protection money.
"And you're up here in the VIP box watching for free? Pay the admission fee or this isn't over."
"I... I am a neutral entity! I cannot interfere—"
"Not interfering?"
Jake's left fist flickered with Four Arms and Humungousaur phantoms. "Then if I pop those cataracts, will you stay neutral and not fight back?"
The killing intent was tangible. Uatu shuddered.
This madman had eaten six Infinity Stones. He would absolutely do it.
"Wait! What do you WANT?"
"That's better."
Jake released the collar. Smoothed the wrinkles.
"Coordinates. Unclaimed vibranium deposits, Uru metal veins, rare cosmic alloys — across the multiverse. I need to upgrade my base and my girlfriend's gear."
Extortion. Blatant, unapologetic extortion.
Uatu breathed deep. Data streams cascaded through his eyes.
Seconds later — a blue Data Orb floated from his eyes into Jake's hand.
"Everything you requested."
Uatu rubbed his aching head. His gaze toward Jake held nothing but wariness.
Jake stored the orb. Nodded.
"Good. You watch your show, I'll go home."
He turned toward the partially healed rift.
"Variable."
Uatu's voice — no longer angry. Grave.
"I must warn you."
"What you did today crossed a line. You destroyed Infinite Ultron. Stitched the universe. Devoured the Infinity Stones. You forcibly changed history that was destined for destruction."
Jake stopped. Didn't look back. "So?"
"You created a massive Branching Timeline. And you've attracted the attention of that organization."
"The gardeners who prune the timelines."
"The Time Variance Authority."
"They will not allow an error like you to exist."
A pause.
"They have already gone to find you."
Jake stood at the rift's edge. Listened to every word.
Then smiled. The kind that had nothing to do with warmth.
"Gardeners who prune branches?"
He raised his wrist. Looked at the dark-green Omnitrix.
"Let them come."
"My system balance is running low again anyway."
Whoosh!
Green light — through the rift — gone.
The last ten meters of dimensional tear sealed shut behind him.
The Watcher Station. Lunar surface.
The bunker door opened.
Gwen stumbled from the ruins. Saw the familiar figure descending from the sky — intact, alive, home.
Her eyes turned red.
"Jake!"
She crashed into his arms. Held on. Didn't let go.
Jake caught her. Patted the dust from her back.
"It's okay now."
He looked up at the stars.
The universe was quiet again.
