Lurch drove in the woods following the trail of cars and the bus, everyone going on their way to the place where the tournament would be held.
Wednesday looked out of the window of her family limousine, uninterested of everything else, which was not the case for the inmortal next to her.
"So, how did you met our little landmine?" Gomez asked with a smile, holding hands to his wife, which also had a smile, just that a more peaceful one, one of confidence.
"Well I there where fencing classes that day, after I took down one student I taunted around a bit asking for a challenge."
Dante put his hand aside towards Wednesday pointing at her.
"And as competitive as she can get she immediately went for a match, after two assaults we got into a tie, but the miss decided to do it the old good ways." Dante said nudging Wednesday a bit.
"It was a mere way to taunt and make you nervous, before I knew a thing about you." Wednesday said as she still was looking away in the car, clearly she now knew how useless a first blood or death match would go against the only being that couldn't die.
"Oh, you know I was captain of the fencing team when I studied there..." Morticia said with a smile of nostalgia.
Gomez raised her hand with his own as they looked at eachother into the eyes. "Yes... you've always been the sharpest blade..." He said with a tone that was burdened with appraisal.
Wednesday turned to look at me in the eyes, somehow Dante could understand that she was blaming him for making her parents go all lovey-dovey in front if them.
Dante gave her a quick frown in disagreement, How could he know that would happen!?.
Dante scoffed slightly raising the married couple out of eachother eyes into him again. "So as I was saying, the last one was the best, after I cut Wednesday on her cheeks she put her blade in my throat..." he said with a smile as Wednesday now looked away in embarrassment, because for her cold, narcissistic persona that showed machiavellism traits, in that moment she showed a really human side for being worried about actually killing the boy.
"Oh how delightful! I do love when we managed to get some emotion of our little rainstorm." Gomez said with a smile, and now Pugsley raised his head over the front seat to look back at us.
"How far does your immortality go?" He asked with a smile, which was turning less strange overtime.
Dante thought that as he became one of the first friends Wednesday had, her little brother would've come afraid of losing her attention or possessive over his sister, but after he stabbed him and Dante brushed it off, Dante was pretty sure that left the best impression in the kid.
"I can give you an example..." Dante said with a confident smile as he relaxed around the family, he thought they'd be as harsh as Wednesday to close to, but seems like she's a raven among black sheeps.
Pugsley only nodded quickly before Dante might say no.
"Well during the Poe Cup I was in charge of delaying as most people as I could, during that time I was swimming all under the water for minutes, drowning without any issue..."
"Now that's not the part I wanted to tell, during that time I wondered ways of surprising the other halls, so in quick thought I twisted my head off my body, and after it grew back I threw the other head into one of the boats." Dante said with a confident smile.
"That's amazing!" Pugsley yelled as he now sure had someone in pedestal of how unhinged someone could be, just right before Uncle Fester.
"You did not tell me about that." Wednesday said looking at Dante straight into his eyes, her voice didn't left much but it was obvious she felt something for not knowing that.
Because as her little brother thought, she also found the moment amazing, beheaded surprises were one of her favorites in most books, and she would be lying if she said she wouldn't like witnessing it.
"Does it matter? I mean you've seen me do crazier things." Dante said, clearly thinking of the time he fought against the Hyde.
Wednesday mind wandered to that memory, remembering how Dante put a fight against the Hyde.
Her mind certainly going back to the moment Dante stabbed it on the chest and blood dropped on his head and face, the stains of blood dropping on him so gracefully as he smiled...
Wednesday kept thinking of the fight and the confident smile Dante had even when yelling at the monster.
Suddenly the limousine bumped up a bit as Lurch hit the brakes making Wednesday wake up from her wandering mind.
She looked around suddenly realizing what she was thinking about, and for her own relieve everyone was too focused on their conversation about how the tournament will go.
Finally Lurch opened the door for Wednesday and Dante to get down, and finally they saw the place.
They were at what looked like a parking lot with dozens of cars parked or arriving as they just did, and in a opening to the forest the principal Weems and other teachers were there.
Around them also were ambulances with nurses around them chatting peacefully, of course a battle of outcast would need medical assistance, even after saying any kind of injury is permitted as long as it isn't with the intention to kill, but even so, Dante will heal his match-ups after crushing them.
"Ok everyone please gather up!" Larissa Weems yelled over to everyone, making the dispersed crowd gather together in front of her.
"Each match will have an unlimited amount of time, but if a fighter is seen deliberately staling time they will instantly lose the match after 2 warnings."
"Any kind of tool or equipment is forbidden to be used in battle with the exception of a siren's necklace to stop their charm."
"And last rule, once the referee calls to end the fight, both fighters will stay in place and not do anything, if someone moves during this time with permission they'll be disqualified." She ended saying the rules as she started walking into the forest, surrounded by teachers.
As 10 minutes passed we finally saw the place where everyone ws going to fight.
Some sort of small island, surrounded by a body of water artificially created using a nearby river, making the water have a steady flow, the island having some big trees and boulders on it to create an environment where stealth and pure strength could be working together in the same space, with the only strange thing out of nature being a white line drawn with chalk in the outside of the body of water.
Wednesday raised her head watching at Dante who was next to her, his eyes analyzing the place as he murmured things to himself.
"You remember your chants?" Wednesday asked in a whispered tone for no one to hear but him.
"Yeah yeah I do..." Dante said, not looking into her direction as his eyes couldn't stop surrounding the entire place, every possibility he could come up to fight with was passing on his mind as he spoke.
"Don't let yourself be surprised, look at your enemies rather than the battlefield." Wednesday said as she nudged Dante to look at the crowd, and there they were.
What was before a pack of selfish strong werewolves now where like a shelter of puppies needing medical assistance, as all of them looked sick, their skin pale and clear signs of fever as their eyes looked injected with blood.
"We really did a number on them, didn't we?" Dante said giving Wednesday a smile, which she responded with a devilish smirk.
"I prefer torturing outcast rather than normies, they tent to be harder to soften up." She responded to him.
"Don't worry, we both know I'm far superior." Dante said, not as an statement or fact, more like a rule they both knew before, an unbreakable rule that didn't come from confidence and more from experience, because he already fought one of the strongest types of outcast and made it flee.
"Be overconfident and you'll lose, follow my instructions and triumph over these teenagers eager to feel approval from their parents." Wednesday said, and in more than one way she was right, most families here were important, wealthy or had a big history following them, and the new generations had to somehow keep up the expectations.
Even Addams, which is a relatively recent name compared to the others also has a history, most where monster hunters who used their electricity in Mexico to hunt down chupacabras, witches, nahuales and the list goes on and on.
Now that the younger generation of Addams is receiving a proper education, there's only Fester doing psychical work, with Gomez moving on the shade of politics next to his wife.
"Don't drag any fight, end them as quick as possible, make them submit, if you see the opportunity even try scaring potential fighters." Wednesday said giving Dante a pat on the back before going, leaving the inmortal speechless by the small touch.
Wednesday walked to some bleachers, sitting next to her family, the position was perfect to give indications to her fighter since she was sitting at sight height for him to only need to move his eyes around a bit to see her depending where he is in the small island.
Everyone took a seat on the bleachers, the inmortal boy and the bubbly still not wolf werewolf girl sitting just right over Wednesday.
Larissa stood on a wood podium facing between the island and the bleachers, a microphone on it as she took it to get it closer to her mouth.
"There's 32 participants on this tournament, today we will do exactly 8 fights, and the other 8 will be left for tomorrow, the selection for the conquestants will be randomly taken from this small box over here with your names!" Larissa yelled, and at the end of her words she raised a metal red box with small folded papers, surely each one with the name of the conquests written on them.
"So..." Larissa whispered as she moved around the box mixing the papers together before taking one."
...
...
...
"Lame..." Dante said with his eyes barely open, the only reason he hasn't fallen asleep is because he has the most energetic person to ever exist next to him, Enid jumping around and sometimes grabbing him urgently as the fights got 'interesting'.
"The winner is Yoko Tanaka!" Larissa yelled at the mic making Dante jump on his seat, the annoyance clear on his eyes as he couldn't comprehend how people got so excited over fights like these, even when they showed powerful abilities and strength that surpasses normal human limits, they were still somehow really far back.
Larissa rummaged her hand in the box, taking two papers from it.
"Now we have Dante, representing the Addams family, and on the other side we have Natasha Howls." She said, making Dante perk up his head, his eyes still halfway down.
Wednesday turned around and patted his leg to make the inmortal stand up, walking down the stairs of the bleachers without any hurry, as the red haired girl jumped down the highest seats on the bleachers into the island, a cocky smirk on her attractive features.
"Hey..." Dante said as he went inside the island jumping the human-made river.
"For every match including Dante there's two ways of eliminating him, due to submitting him for 10 seconds or pushing him off the limits of the island, to be exact 50% of his body must be outside the white line to count as he's out." Larissa to the mic, and it was the obvious choice, he couldn't even understand why the redhead was smilling earlier, in normal rules he would've win any fight without even trying.
"Well they made your life easier with that..." Dante whispered, but the upgraded hearing senses of the girl caught his words.
"You're going to get yours a lot harder..." she said the threat with venom on her voice, her sharp canined smile obviously inferring she's a werewolf, surely one that had already transformed, afterall it is well known after transforming, the werewolf becomes a lot stronger overall.
Dante only yawned in boredom with an open palm in front of his mouth.
