Chapter 1 - Before Dawn there's Dusk.

The pitch black room greeted him again.

He tried stretching his arms, but the straight jacket they put on him stopped him, only being able to struggle a bit before letting go.

They told them long ago how it's imposible to escape, that not even a miracle would save him, but today he was going to prove they were wrong.

'I've been living for about 15 years, that's what she told me, but I'll actually start living once I'm out of here...'

He looked down at his straight jacket, watching the white cloth with 8 leather belts tightly restraining all of his moves from waist to his head.

In the pitch black room it's impossible to see, but he has adapted to this a long time ago, his body grew acostumed to all they've done, this one just another one of the thousands they've done, he realized the more he opened his pupils the more he could see in darkness, and the small gap in the metal door in front of him made that possible as it offered a small ray of light into the room.

He took a deep breath preparing himself for the moment of his life, he has been working for this atleast 70% of his life.

Any other escape attempt done were only to understand and comprehend the facility, to understand what the guards would try to use to stop him and where he should go.

He closed his eyes as he focused, the straight jacket phasing through his chest as his ability aligned perfectly the molecules.

He finally stood up, the leather belts the only things left around his body as they fell down due to having no more the restraining jacket.

He stretched his back, hearing the cracks of his bones and the feeling of his weak body tensing.

He finally opened his eyes again, staring at the huge metal door in front of him, it was made of only one material, specifically one element he didn't even knew the name, but he knew that it had the same composition, making the next step an easy step.

They bragged in front of him how it could step a stampede of elephants without a single scratch, but a frail wood door would've worked better against him, that would make it a lot harder to analyze the door and even harder to use his ability with it.

They made it easier to understand by making it of the same thing.

He could essentially phase through it using the same method as he did with the straight jacket, something they didn't know he could even do the 5th time they reinforced the room.

He touched the metal door and started phasing through, as if the metal door wasn't there, aligning perfectly his molecules with the ones in the door.

'Stupid bitches...' He thought as he was already midway inside the door.

As soon as he phased the entire door a bright white lights greeted him, scorching his eyes, but he didn't flinch nor blinked.

"AY HIJO DE SU PUTA MADRE!" A loud yell echoed inside the room as a pair of guards started running towards him.

"CABRON EL NIÑO SE SALIO!" He heard again the foreign words while two armed men looked at him, holding up their rifles with trembling hands.

He took a step foward and dashed as fast as he could by them, but he was quickly put down thanks to a flurry of bullets.

He fell flat to the cold floor, his blood staining completely the place as inhumane quantities were already around him like a pool.

"He ain't healing mano..." One of the man whispered, his tightened grip of his rifle lossened up, and after seconds he let go of it, the strap on his chest holding the rifle as he reached for a smaller gun in his pocket.

"Lo matamos...?" The other man said as he took small steps towards the kid,who was making the effort of holding back his ability that tried to heal him.

The man took him by the under his arm, before taking him like a potato sack.

"Call the patron..." He said as he kept the kind on his shoulder, the other one still pointing at the kid with his smaller gun, surely one with a tranquilizer.

"Yeah yeah..." The other said as he reached for a walkie talkie in his pocket.

He held the walkie talkie to his mouth and started whispering words, and within seconds a loud thud was heard, the door of the room opening.

10 men, each one heavily armed and protected.

Suddenly the two men felt tiny, they knew how special these ten people were, how they were dozen of ranges lower than them.

The ten men raised their rifles, the bullets with specially tranquilizer hard enough to put to sleep 20 elephants with just one shot, not that the kid knew what was even an elephant, but that's the comparison the scientist told him the first time they used it on him.

But that was their mistake, they should've sticked with using it on elephants, now he was halfway through the process to neutralize it.

The kid opened his eyes and the bullets inside his body flew out like if he was a granade, the man who was holding him being pierced by them in the shoulder and head, instantly killing him.

"FIRE!" One of the armed men yelled as a the bullets flew straight at him, each one containing the same drug, making him stumble a bit as he felt how it got to his entire body.

'I always feel dizzy over this...' The teenager thought as he was about to fall again, but his ability had already analyzed that tranquilizer before, so it was already half work done as he finally adapted to it completely.

And looked up, his expressionless face was brushed off with a big grin as he rushed over to the open door.

He passed over many armed men, each using different methods to stop him, but they all failed as most of those methods were already used to torture him, fire, freezing, electricity, even silverware for a reason he does not know.

Doesn't matter, afterall, all of their attempts met failure.

At the end, everyone inside the underground facility were dead, not a single soul but his was inside the place.

It didn't matter if they were there just by orders, obligated or wanted to be there willingly, he killed them all.

And he was fair,at least he thought that, they were all there to work indirectly or directly to continue his torture, even they were the ones that made her so mad to kill herself.

Because of that,he didn't hesitate as he slayed them.

3 hours passed

He kept the same pace as when he started the massacre, once a level was cleared he rushed up, he repeated this process enough times that he lost count, barely caring about how long it would take.

His entire body was covered in blood, some his, most from others.

He to walked towards the stair room, repeating the process once again, but this time the level wasn't exactly what he expected.

"Parking lot..." He read the words written on the door as he opened it, watching a long line of sturdy looking machine things in wheels, and in the distance what was a different kind of light.

He looked back at the stair room and realized that was the final level of the entire place.

He watched the machines all lined up side to side, leaving enough space in the front for them to leave if they moved.

"Must be what they used to come here..." He quickly connected the dots, surely these where with what the dozen of hundreds of guards used to come, because size wise, the place wasn't able to hold more than a thousand people.

He thought those things were the best choice to go faster, and as he tried pulling the door of one he quickly remembered a key factor.

His body was weak, his muscles were weak and everything about him mirrored that state, anyone would mistake him as a skeleton with skin wrapped over it after a failed attempt of resurrection.

His skin was pale as a ghost, his blue eyes were borderline white and he looked sick without even being it.

He left the machine alone and walked to the entrance of the place, the entire place was alone, not a single soul in there.

He finally got to the entrance, and looked up,his eyes scorching thanks to the new light that meant only one thing.

"Once you look up and there's a huge blue ceiling with a steaming star over you, that's when youre free..." He repeated what she said to him years ago, thinking how much those words motivated and pushing him to his limits and more.

"Project Cain..." He said the words the man said some time ago, and a face of disgust passed over him.

"I got to start thinking of an actual name, I would never let myself be named by them again..." He thought as he walked through the gate.

The sun finally hit his entire body all at once, his eyes were already red, and the only reason his skin didn't follow that was because the blood acted like a sunscreen.

"Ahh..." He breathed as he looked around himself, in the front there was a road made of dirt and in every other direction there were tall trees.

A cold breeze brushed over him, and he was ready for the next step of his escape.

"Find Jericho..."

"A school for someone like you..." He repeated her words, and started walking.

Supposedly that's close to his location, that was one of the first things she told him when he asked for ideas to escape.

He looked at the road,a long walk would be miserable for anyone, but the teenager couldn't hold his smile of content, everything around him was new, even though he hated the word new because the scientist found another way to hurt him, this time new was good.

"Change is good..." he said, the forest quiet, the brushing leaves making his only company.

2 days.

He has been walking for long, long enough that he witnessed what was called "night" for the first time, it was beautiful to say the least.

But right now something that he couldn't how it happens was going to just start.

He watched how the sky was filled with those white things, just that these ones were a whole darker shade.

He didn't mind, but his power silently felt how his body was changed, the pressure lowering and the heat rising, then some time later these clouds came by.

Plick.

A small droplet of water fell into his hair, and then other one too.

He looked with amaze to the sky,and it started falling faster.

Water as small dropelts falling and falling while he stood there with a bright smile, the dry blood washing off him while he enjoyed the first time he got a bath in his life.

He kept walking, the water making the dirt road under him feel squishy and softer.

"So this is how water comes..." He said, his voice expressing how incredible the water cycle was to his eyes.

He kept walking as the water kept falling, his steady pace, not rushing even when he could run for hours without a stop.

He didn't want to feel pain while he escaped, even when it stopped bothering him a long ago,it still is like a buzzing noise that overwhelms the calm quietness.

After a time he finally saw what he wanted to see.

A green sign, and the words "Welcome to Elmore!" written on it, it looked like it has been through a lot.

Since it was almost about to fall off those two rods attached to the ground.

He started running with a happy smile on hid face, the pain of his frail body numbed by the joy of civilization.

He knew what it was,she told him about it a lot,how amazing other people are outside of that horrendous place and how she missed her closed ones.

The road seemed to end as he started going a hill,a big it seems since it started to go so up that he started to climb it with his hands.

And once he climbed it enough,he watched how the rows of trees stopped, just to showcase a beautiful sight.

What was under him was what she called nature and civilization combined.

A huge body of water was being pristine under the rain, and houses and roads all around it.

"Ah..."

"It's so beautiful..." He muttered, his voice clearly not finding a way out of his body as he just couldn't keep his mouth from hanging.

He jumped down the hill immediately, tall enough to be some hundreds of meters as he watched in awe the town nearby and then he fell flat to the ground.

So many broken bones that just healed in the span of some minutes.

He stood up and kept running, his joy for finding society still on him.
