Faye Vaughn obediently lay back down on the bed.
In the gloom of the night, the room was exceptionally quiet, making it possible to hear all sorts of sounds from outside.
Someone was arguing, shouting and spewing profanities.
Someone else was flirting, whispering obscene, dirty talk.
The sounds from the room next door were even more blatant. The CREAK of a bedframe hitting the floor was both suggestive and direct—it was obvious what they were doing.
Faye Vaughn turned on her side, looking at Liam Linden in the darkness.
He was lying on the chair, motionless, as if he were asleep, but his slightly ragged breathing gave him away.
The moans from next door grew more intense, the volume shamelessly loud. The woman's cries, in particular, made it impossible to pretend you couldn't hear anything.
"It's so loud," Faye Vaughn muttered.
From the darkness, Liam Linden's low voice emerged. "I'm sorry. We can't change locations for now."
"It's fine. I'll just cover my ears."
