When Liam Linden finished his song, Faye Vaughn applauded enthusiastically. "You're a true genius!" she praised with genuine sincerity. "You're amazing at everything!"
Liam Linden froze.
'He'd only sung a song. Her praise was way over the top.'
"Liam Linden, you have no idea how incredible you really are." Faye Vaughn's voice was soft and sweet, yet clear in the dimness. "Your talent and abilities leave your peers in the dust."
"Just some useless talents," Liam Linden said indifferently.
"No, that's not it," Faye Vaughn countered. "The point of talent is to create value for others, for society. You haven't even started creating value yet, so what right do you have to call it useless?"
Liam Linden fell silent.
'Create value for others and society?'
'When has anyone ever been kind to me?'
'When has society ever been kind to me?'
