Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: The Conversation

PENELOPE'S P.O.V.

Kai, Erik and Auntie Mary were sitting on the couches, waiting for me to speak. I took a big gulp of warm water. To say I wasn't nervous would be a lie. I was shitting bricks here. I kept telling myself to rip the band-aid off. God knows I wanted to, but would they believe me? Just as I was contemplating how to tell them, I heard Kai ask an absurd question.

"Penny, be honest. Are you pregnant? Who is the father? Don't panic, everything will be alright"

Penny:.... What?

Erik:....

Aunt Mary: .....

"Penny, dear, is that true? Am I going to be a grandmother? Tell me, child. Who is the father? When is the wedding? How far along are you? Oh goodness, have you been supplementing well?" she said as she got up and paced back and forth. Honestly, I was getting dizzy.

"Kai, what the hell are you going on about?" Erik said. He stood up and looked like he was going to punch Kai. I grabbed his arm and pulled him to sit.

"Kai, just what goes on in that brain of yours!?" I said as I looked at Aunt Mary and said "Aunt, don't listen to him. I am not pregnant. Kai is just missing a few screws in his head." I kicked Kai's ankle to shut him up. Like seriously, where did he get that I was pregnant? I don't even have a man in my life. Kid's don't just appear out of nowhere. What is wrong with him.

He just shrugged and made a zipping gesture towards his mouth. I rolled my eyes and turned to Erik and Aunt Mary.

"So, here's the thing. You three may not believe me but I swear on my dead parents' grave that I am being honest." I said as I raised my right arm in a 90' degree angle with my fingers facing up.

"Okay, now I know you're serious. I know this is going to be good" Kai said as he sat straighter. I could see Erik and Aunt Mary sit straighter as well. I wanted to laugh. I felt like a teacher about to discipline her students.

I cleared my throat, "Well, I don't know how to say this but I'm just going to be direct with all three of you. The end of the world is coming" I said as I stared at all three of them.

Aunt Mary: .... Crows flying above head

Erik:.... Crows flying above head

Kai:.... Crows flying above head

Kai burst out laughing, "Penny, your too funny." he said as he bent over to hold his stomach as he laughed. "you were so serious, I almost believed you."

Erik slapped his back and told him to stop. He looked at me and said "continue". I have to praise him for trying to keep it together. I could tell he thought I was losing my marbles, but wanted to give me the opportunity to speak.

Aunt Mary was just confused. She looked like she was about to call a family doctor to come and take a look at me. I had to act fast. These people were not taking me serious at all.

"I am not joking with you. I am being serious right now. Listen to me. The zombie apocalypse is coming. You may think that I am crazy but I am speaking the truth. Tomorrow at 5pm exactly, all devices used for communication will stop working. Two days from then, the sky will be painted red. People will turn into mindless zombies, biting every living thing that comes there way. I know it's hard to believe, but it's important. We need to gather as many supplies as we can..." I didn't get to finish talking when I heard Kai ask in an incredulous tone.

"You're saying the end of the world is coming? Zombies? Like in those apocalyptic novels we read?"

"Yes.. well, sort of. Humans will get a fighting chance. People will fall in a deep slumber and some will wake up as an elemental user, also known as superpower user, others will remain human and others will wake up as zombies. Look, we need to get started, things are going to get crazy." I said.

Erik looked at me, then looked at his mom, then at Kai, then back at me. He took a deep breath and said "Can you prove it?"

Bingo. My big brother Erik really was smart. He knew I wouldn't just talk without any way to back it up. I grinned and said "Yes, look."

I touched the coffee table and stored it in my space. Kai's eyes bulged wide open. Erik took a sharp intake of breath. Aunt Mary gasped, then looked at me with admiration in her eyes. I proceeded on telling them that I inherited this space from my mom, that's all I said. Too much information could be dangerous for all of us.

"So, what your saying is that you inherited a space and also prolific dreams?" Erik said. I shook my head.

"To be honest, I had this long dream about the apocalypse. At first, I did not take it serious. However, my boss asked me to stay with him for the next few days. That's when I found it strange. He told me he had a long dream, where in his dream zombies took over the world. He said that I died. He did as well. However that's his story to tell. At first, I did not want to believe him. But the more he detailed his dream, the more it coincided with mine. He is currently staying in my home, and I promised I would go over tomorrow. We are suppose to go buy the remaining supplies before the black-out happens." I said.

"Wait, your boss is staying in your home? Where is he sleeping? Tell him to stay out of my room!" Kai said. Again, what the hell goes on in his head. That's what he got out of all of this?

"Okay, I'll start hoarding as well. Penny, mom, please go get some rest. Tomorrow will be a busy day for us all. Kai, you come with me. Let's get started." Erik said. He did not doubt me. I could tell he really trusted me. "Okay eldest brother, also please get as much as possible. We can store it in my space. Goodnight" I said as I let out a yawn. I headed upstairs towards my bedroom when I remembered I did not finish telling them everything. Well, okay. I'll just tell them tomorrow, first I wanted to get to my room and figure out this whole contact issue.
