Selene's POV
The emergency council meeting was packed.
Not just the usual elders and senior wolves, but warriors, healers, even some of the kitchen staff who'd heard rumors and demanded to be present.
Democracy in action. Or chaos.
Depending on your perspective.
I sat beside Damon at the head table, very aware of the eyes on me. Some curious. Some still fearful after witnessing the Alpha command.
Others calculating, like they were trying to figure out if I was an asset or a liability.
"Order!"
Elder Thorne's voice cut through the murmuring.
"We're here to discuss the prisoner Cole's proposal and the intercepted message regarding a supply shipment. Alpha Damon has the floor."
Damon stood, and the room went silent.
"Two developments have occurred in the past day,"
he began, his voice carrying that Alpha authority that made even the most rebellious wolf sit straighter.
