Chapter 31 - Chapitre 31 :The Soul Thief (1)

"Stop here, this fight isn't worth it," Jin declared honestly after injuring Satoru.

Indeed, the battle between Gojo and him wasn't worth it at the current moment.

Satoru Gojo was not at his peak.

Jin had the impression of bullying a beginner who had just connected to online mode in a video game for the first time.

A funny act, but immature.

"What are you saying!" Satoru charged toward Jin, but the latter dodged the young boy's rapid attack.

The Flee skill was decisive, but Jin also used another trick to compensate for his slowness against Gojo's speed, aided by the application of Blue on his body.

A greater output of cursed energy.

Even though the Six Eyes user has better energy control, Jin uses an enormous amount in a brief instant by combining magical energy with the Flee skill.

Gojo remained overall faster, but Jin could be extremely explosive for a short moment.

"Tsk… this guy is annoying," Satoru thought while frowning, but his thoughts were quickly interrupted.

Several black ropes manifested from the ground to latch onto Jin's body and improve his bodily control.

The shirt once torn by the suction power of Blue was soon compensated by Tsubaki's shadows.

However, Satoru's gaze was drawn elsewhere: the red eyes Jin wore behind his glasses fixed the young boy with a hint of displeasure.

Crack.

Jin delivered a cursed-energy-infused katana strike while the soul resonance boost improved his overall abilities.

Satoru couldn't block the attack with Infinity and found himself propelled through a building.

Infinity had clashed with Jin's domain extension, but the young boy lost the energy duel.

The phenomenon was a completely new experience for him.

"I underestimated my strength," Jin muttered while staring at Tsubaki's body, surrounded by cursed energy and dark markings.

"Master, I sense powerful souls approaching," Tsubaki's voice echoed in Jin's ears as he watched Satoru emerge from the rubble.

"I see… scavengers want to take advantage of the situation to pick off weakened prey," he said while deactivating the soul resonance and returning Tsubaki to the state of an ordinary weapon.

This unexpected act surprised Satoru, but Jin paid it no mind. Currently, Satoru was not his target.

Originally, he had wanted to fight Yuki, but his objectives had now changed.

"You're too inexperienced to continue this fight," Jin began to enlighten the young boy about his actions.

Jin's words could be interpreted as provocation, but Satoru perceived no arrogance in his voice.

Jin was simply stating a fact.

"Honestly, I really didn't plan to fight you today. Still, I admit I understand why your clan specializes you in using Infinity," he said in a small monologue while fixing his glasses.

Infinity.

The hereditary technique of the Gojo clan.

According to Jin's understanding when he exchanged blows with Satoru, this power is certainly difficult to use without the Six Eyes, but it remains versatile in its fundamental nature.

After all, the concept of infinity is omnipresent in the universe.

'I'd really like to learn it with the Six Eyes, but now isn't the time,' he thought while analyzing the power of the Gojo clan.

He wasn't sure how the balance of this world would react to the appearance of two Six Eyes holders in the same generation.

Jin wasn't certain he was strong enough to handle the increase in cursed spirit appearances his act might cause.

He had to be patient.

"You specialize in using Infinity?" Satoru muttered without understanding the underlying message in Jin's words.

Some Jujutsu Kaisen fans haven't noticed it, but Jogo and Sukuna understood.

Satoru Gojo is extremely talented.

'The ability to destroy his own brain to accelerate the recharge of his innate technique, but also to evolve during combat, even to use his innate technique without deactivating it while anti-domain usage is necessary… these are all divine acts,' he thought while observing the confused boy before his eyes.

Satoru had been able to use all of that when he faced the King of Curses.

According to Kashimo, it wasn't surprising to him. The man was a Six Eyes user, but what shocked Kashimo most was Sukuna.

He didn't possess an asset like the Six Eyes, yet he was able to imitate Satoru Gojo's tricks with a single glance.

A monster.

Especially when considering the risk that a potential failure could entail during brain repair.

Jin envied that talent but didn't believe himself capable of imitating Gojo's insane acts during his confrontation with Sukuna.

Not yet, at least.

"You rely too much on Infinity. You'll hit a wall sooner or later because you don't explore other paths," Jin admitted while recalling Satoru's situation at his peak.

He believed himself to be the strongest.

Unlike the King of Curses, he had shown no interest in imitating other innate techniques with the Six Eyes.

The mere idea of imagining Satoru applying the effects of Blue or Red to weapons like the Split Soul Katana was frightening enough for Jin to hesitate to give Gojo any more advice.

Especially since in theory, Gojo could also imitate Sukuna's slash, or even reproduce the dimensional slash. That's just how formidable the Gojo clan's innate technique is.

"You're strong, Satoru Gojo, but unfortunately our fight has to stop here. We're being watched by trash," he finished while turning his back to him.

"This man…" Satoru muttered while observing the light wounds on Jin's body close.

He recognized the use of Reverse Cursed Technique. But the idea that his opponent used it so nonchalantly made him understand that Jin hadn't given everything.

Satoru clenched his fists.

"I didn't lose. Our fight is simply postponed for later," he said to Jin while turning to leave.

As for whether Jin had heard him, Satoru didn't care. That declaration was more a reminder to himself than information intended for Jin.

Jin smiled slightly upon hearing Satoru's words.

"I'll come to you in two years, so you'd better be stronger than that," he said while glancing over his shoulder.

Aside from his family, Jin is only interested in money.

However, the idea of facing the future strongest sorcerer of the modern era triggered something in him.

"Master, your soul is stirring," Tsubaki warned in an anxious tone.

"Oups, sorry, I almost hurt you," he apologized while detransforming her.

The teenage girl placed her arms behind her back, avoided Jin's gaze, and replied with her usual humble tone.

"It's nothing, Master. Anyway, I doubt our souls will become incompatible," she reassured him while displaying her polite smile.

Jin nodded but secretly noted that he needed to avoid letting that side of himself take over. After all, if a weapon's soul becomes incompatible with its master, the latter won't even be able to lift it.

That's also why he chose Tsubaki and not Soul Evans. Even though the latter possessed formidable powers, there was a risk of incompatibility.

Jin didn't want to take risks.

He opted for a submissive-type weapon like Tsubaki, because that kind of soul is compatible with almost everyone.

"Uh… Master, we're still being followed by an individual," Tsubaki noticed while slightly frowning.

Jin nodded without stopping his advance.

"In your opinion, can that man's soul be seized by you?" Jin asked as they reached a less frequented area.

Tsubaki displayed a confused expression, then understood the meaning of the question.

"Y-yes… but weapons aren't allowed to harvest the souls of criminals without connection to the act of devouring souls," she explained before Jin interrupted her.

"Excellent. I'll be able to make my trip to Kyoto profitable. I think that damn goblin will see me sooner than he thinks," he said while turning his gaze toward the curse user.

"You heard, didn't you? Can you give me your soul?" Jin asked in a polite tone while adjusting his glasses.

"What?!" the curse user stammered while instinctively backing away after becoming the target of the murderous intent from the bespectacled man before his eyes.

The man had understood too late.

His interest in Jin had led him to find himself in a catastrophic situation.
