Rameses POV
Rameses felt Kai's body tense beside him, a small, barely audible gasp slipping through his lips.
Immediately, he knelt down on the ground in front of him, his eyes sweeping over the strange expression on his delicate features.
'Which one is this? Is he afraid? Panicked?'
There were subtle changes to Kai's appearance from his year away on Amunet; his hair was a little longer, his face was more mature somehow, with sharper cheekbones, and a light spattering of golden blonde stubble across his jaw.
He seemed - tired.
He peered harder, a slight burn passing over his irises when he finally caught the subtle hint of grey sheltering underneath the golden light of his soul.
"Kai?" He reached up and pressed his hand against his suddenly, unnaturally cold skin, "Are you seeing things again?"
Widened hazel eyes hiding small flecks of gold stared back at him.
'Panic, maybe.'
