I plan to keep going to work today. Earlier, I received a phone call from Grelmure asking whether I needed more rest for today, and I told him no. He sounded very grateful to hear that. As usual, I arrived right on time and immediately headed to the secretary's office. Not long afterward, someone entered, and it turned out to be Gruzhnil. He approached me with a beaming face.
"I'm very happy that you have returned to your usual self, Johann. I believe that you have a strong heart to accept this matter. For now, you don't need to work late anymore. Grelmure will help you to take care of my affairs." Gruzhnil held my right shoulder. I nodded once and started working.
When break time arrived, I ate lunch first in the large hall. After that, I excused myself to Gruzhnil to go out for a while to get some fresh air. I drove go-kart to the weapons production factory. Upon arriving, one of the supervisors welcomed me warmly.
"Sir Johann, is there anything we can help you with?"
"I just want to take a look around this place, sir. It has been a long time since Sir David asked for ammunition to be made for his weapons."
The supervisor then praised me for still remembering that important event. He then accompanied me for a while around the production activities to restore supplies after that great war. He was also very grateful that other planets had provided assistances. I heard the supervisor often praising Tiberos several times.
"I think I can look around by myself. You can continue your activities from earlier, sir." I said. He smiled and told me to come see him again if I needed help.
After he left me, I wandered around the bomb weapon production area. There I saw one type of bomb being tested where the bomb was activated by a remote control. I observed how to use it and then left again. In another production section, I asked one of the staff members who was sitting down to rest first. He was very happy to meet me, but I only asked where the weapon storage area was. He immediately gave me directions and offered to escort me there. I politely declined and asked him to focus on his work again.
When arrived, I greeted several staffs while saying that I just wanted to look around. I walked casually and calmly toward my destination, the explosives storage area. I looked at the other weapons first while keeping an eye on the staff who were still on duty there. After waiting quite a while, one staff left the area, and I began walking there. I approached the explosives, and suddenly something unexpected happened again.
My interface slot appeared again after such a long time since the last battle. I felt that this interface truly possessed a consciousness of its own and could not be controlled by me at will. Maybe it only appeared according to my thoughts on certain plans. The items inside it were still kitchen knife, binoculars, a compass, and the starstone energy pistol from yesterday's battle.
"So now you support me in doing this, huh? Good then..."
I took a rectangular bomb slightly larger than the grip of an adult man's hand and put it into the slot until the quantity reached the maximum of 10. I also took the remote controller and placed it into the slot as well. I did it quickly and occasionally glanced back toward the hallway to make sure I would not be caught doing this thing.
After I had enough, I immediately left the place so that I would not be suspected when the staff returned. I went back to headquarters and continued working. Fortunately, the work that day was not busy, so I could go home earlier in the afternoon. Grelmure approached me again as I was preparing to leave.
"I received news from commander that The Great Lord David is at his old house at the foot of the hill and he wanted to spend the night there first. Perhaps if you want to meet him again, He is there."
I smiled broadly and thanked Grelmure. When I arrived at the door of my apartment, I saw Sherubiel walking in the hallway and she glanced at me as well. It turned out that she immediately approached me, whereas I thought she would avoid me because I had yelled at her yesterday.
"Johann! Y-You've gone back to work? Thank goodness you've become much better!"
"Let's go to that café on the rooftop… Invite Mendicore too!" I waved.
Sherubiel looked very happy and called Mendicore from her room. We walked to the rooftop area where there was a swimming pool and a café bar. We sat at one of the small tables provided there.
"Thank goodness you're feeling better today, Johann! I was worried about your condition yesterday. I won't ask how you managed to get through it so quickly." Mendicore said. I only laughed softly.
"I want to ask both of you something. If I suddenly had to part ways with you, would you be able to continue your lives?" I asked. Instantly, both of them fell silent, and Sherubiel looked slightly shocked.
"J-Johann... s-sorry. Do you mean that you have to move away again without us?" Sherubiel asked.
"Not just me moving away. Please answer the question instead of asking me another one..." I requested with a serious face.
"I-if that is what is best for you, w-we would be willing to comply that, and we would never forget you. I hope that someday we will meet again, even if only for a short while." Mendicore said. Sherubiel only nodded in agreement with that answer. I smiled, and once again they both fell silent.
"Hahahahaaa... Why do both of you look so tense! Of course I would never forget you, who have been my good friends living in the same house!" I said while sipping the warm drink that had already been served. Sherubiel and Mendicore also laughed.
That night, I left my room and walked casually through the hallway. Mendicore probably knew through its advanced vision that I had gone out, but it would no longer be curious on me. When I left the apartment, there were still many people in front of David's house. I merely shook my head and walked toward the place, but I took a wide detour so that I could enter from the back.
After arriving at the back door and trying to open it, I found that it was locked. I thought about how I could get inside. There was no way I could climb through the window because it was too high. My eyes then caught sight of a piece of wire lying on the terrace floor outside. Suddenly, I remembered the incident back on Earth when Larry had tried to open the Jeep door and went to the Army headquarter after the disaster struck.
I immediately picked it up and tried to remember how to shape a wire lockpick. Once it looked similar enough to what Larry had made back then, I tried opening the door with cold sweat in face, and it worked! I let a long sigh and quietly sneaked into the throne room. Inside, there was not a single person there, only David's cats. The Priests had already gone home every evening because I had seen it before. David had suddenly started sleeping in his old house there. Honestly, why had his attitude become strange after that incident? I did not expect him to suddenly come to my apartment and pour out everything.
When I got close to the throne, my interface slot suddenly appeared again. I smiled; this slot truly could read my intentions. I immediately took out the bombs and placed all of them above and below the throne. After arranging everything, I moved all of his cats near the exit door, which fortunately was quite far from the throne. I took the bomb remote from the slot and searched for a place behind a wall to protect myself from flying debris. I activated the remote and prepared to press the detonation button.
"This era of worship is over...!!!" I shouted loudly and pressed the button. Several beeping sounds were heard and I covered both of my ears.
A loud explosion filled the entire building. All of David's cats immediately jumped in shock and ran out through the back door. A few moments later, I returned to the room where dust was flying everywhere and all the glass windows had shattered due to the shockwave of the explosion. I saw that the throne had been completely destroyed beyond recognition. The front door was forced open, all the soldiers of The Graendall rushed inside, witnessing the scene until all their eyes widened and their mouths hung open.
"W-WHAT HAPPENEDDDDD...?!?!?! Y-YOU… YOU DID THIIISSSS...?!?!?!" one of the guards shouted at me with a furious expression.
I slowly walked toward them. All of those soldiers showed great anger toward me as well. I returned their gaze with an angry stare while taking several deep breaths.
"HE IS YOUR COMRADE-IN-ARMS...!!! WHY ARE YOU WORSHIPPING HIM LIKE A GODDD...?!?!?!"
The moment after I shouted, my body suddenly slammed onto the floor as if struck by something heavy. I felt my hands immediately being restrained by someone. My legs struggled, and I turned my head to see who had done this. It turned out to be an elite soldier of The Graendall.
"YOU DAMN BASTAAARRRDD...!!! HOW DARE YOUUUUU INSULT THIS SYMBOL OF GREATNEEESSSS HUUUHHHH...!!!" the soldier shouted.
I immediately spat onto the floor and stared back at him sharply.
"See? None of you ever cared about Sir David himself!!!"
His anger immediately surged again after hearing my words, and he raised his fist while shouting at the top of his lungs.
"Stop..." someone said in a voice that I recognized. I immediately looked toward the source of the voice, and I was shocked when I saw who it was.
David stood several meters in front of me, and the soldiers around him immediately crouched and bowed.
