Chapter 13 - Chapter 12: Weakness: Survival of the Fittest.

The giant collapsed, devoid of any life. Its electrical flow went completely dark. The mountain was finally: dead!

"Alright, we're done here," I muttered, preparing to gather my supplies and get the hell out of there.

Suddenly, two giant creatures shrieked from opposite directions. One was closing in from the right, the other from the left.

— "RAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!" — The one on the left. It stood between 10 and 15 meters tall.

— "RAAAAAAAAAAKAAAAHHH!" — The one on the right. Between 7 and 10 meters.

"Hajajajajaja! The one on the right sounds like a damn rooster at dawn."

I expanded my electricity outward to scan for any more creatures heading my way. The result came back… negative!

"You bastards, I don't have time for games… I'm exhausted. I only came out for daily

supplies and you keep pestering me," I shouted, my irritation boiling over.

"Let's finish this quick. I need to get back home to Valentine."

"Tempo! Activate!" Both creatures froze mid-stride, just as they were about to lunge.

"Relax, you freaks… you don't even need to move. I'll tear you apart right where you stand."

I began to heat my body once more until the flames enveloped me completely.

"You guys are small fries. Fire and vibration are more than enough to handle you."

I lunged at the 7-10 meter one first, punching through its skull with ease—it felt like crushing play-dough. Without hitting the ground, I used the vibration in both feet to propel myself toward the 15-meter giant. I cleaved through its skull as if I were splitting wood with an axe.

"Tempo! Deactivate!" Both giants crashed behind me at the same time, falling one on top

of the other, lifeless.

"Done. Finally. Just in case, I'll expand my electricity to its maximum capacity to detect

any movement within a 10-kilometer radius."

The result was chilling: thousands of creatures were swarming toward my location.

— "RAAAAAAAHHHH!"

— "RuuUUUUAAAAHHH!"

— "Raaaakaaaaaahhhh!"

— "Raaaaaaaaahhhh!"

Four giants roared from 5 kilometers away, while thousands of foul smaller creatures sprinted and leaped across buildings. The giants were leveling every street and skyscraper in their path, hunting for their prey.

"Dammit! I'm hitting my limit… and these bastards just keep coming in endless waves!" I yelled, surging electricity through my veins. "This feels like a damn RPG! The spawns

never stop!"

I raced back to the remains of the supermarket as fast as I could. I grabbed the first backpack I saw and stuffed it with the supplies I needed.

"No way… I can't find August. Where is he? Could the first giant have digested him before I searched its stomach?"

I leaped onto the nearest rooftop to get a better vantage point.

"Bingo!" August was lying among the rubble, intact… well, halfway intact.

A new giant caught my eye; it looked even bigger than the first one I fought. It didn't matter. I didn't have time to find out how strong it was. I had to go.

I rushed to his body, cleared the debris, picked him up, and took off at lightning speed. Thousands of monsters were hot on my heels.

"HAJAJAJAJA! Give your grandmothers my regards in hell, you bastards!" I roared,

pushing the speed in my legs to the breaking point.

Suddenly, a 'runner' was about to close the gap. "Not another distraction!" I shouted as the

monster laughed and drooled.

— "KA, KA, KAKAKA!"

— "RAAAZUUUUH!"

"Shut up, I can't understand a word you're saying!" I prepared to cave in its skull. "I don't have time to waste on trash like you. Back off!"

I heated my left arm until fire wreathed my hand. I curled my fingers into a fist, activated the vibration, and came to a dead halt. I spun around and incinerated the speedster's skull with the last of my energy. Its body hit the dirt as its head turned to ash in the wind.

I resumed my journey, carrying August's lifeless body over my right shoulder through the ruins of a shattered city. There were no signs of survivors. I knew then that the world was dead; now, only the strong could survive in this void, while the weak would be hunted and devoured without mercy.

"What a great day," I chuckled. "I had a blast. But it's time to say goodbye, August."

On the way home, I found a small park with a few trees still standing. I buried August's

body there, carving his name into a stone.

"Goodbye, August. I promise to come back and visit you someday," I said, standing up and slowly walking away into the distance.
