Chapter 390: The Great Toad Sage

Step, step!

Just as Tobitake Tonbo was balancing the natural energy within his body, several toads rapidly approached from a distance. Leading them was Fukasaku-sama. Behind him were large toads, including Gamakichi and others.

"Fukasaku-sama, Gamakichi! Long time no see."

Seeing Fukasaku, Naruto gently set Hinata down and greeted him. It truly had been a long time. Since the end of the Ninja War, Naruto hadn't summoned Fukasaku-sama or Gamakichi.

"Yo, Naruto! So this is your wife, Hinata? I'm hurt that you didn't invite me to the wedding!" Gamakichi complained immediately. Just because he was huge? They were companions who grew up together, after all.

Naruto looked up; Gamakichi was even bigger now—Naruto only reached his toenail. How was he supposed to attend the wedding? It wasn't that Naruto didn't want to.

Fukasaku-sama's gaze fixed on Tobitake Tonbo. "So this is Tobitake Tonbo? What an incredible Sage Mode." He could see that Tonbo was balancing his internal chakra with the natural energy, and he was doing it exceptionally fast. Furthermore, there wasn't a single trace of toadification on his body.

The natural energy here bore the deep imprint of the Mount Myoboku clan. To be able to balance the energy so quickly under these conditions with minimal physical change proved that his Sage Mode was even more perfect than Naruto's. Fukasaku had thought Naruto was the strongest Sage Mode user in existence, but he hadn't expected there to be someone even more powerful.

"Fukasaku-sama, hello. I've long heard that you gave Naruto immense help. Thank you truly," Tonbo said to Fukasaku once he finished balancing his senjutsu chakra.

"Haha, I've watched Naruto grow up; of course I'd look after him. So, coming to Mount Myoboku this time... surely it's not as simple as just paying us a visit?" Fukasaku-sama asked. Gamakichi looked at Tonbo, remembering how strong this guy had been during the Fourth War.

Naruto: "Yeah, Tonbo-ojisan asked me if he could meet the Great Toad Sage, so I brought him here."

"What? You aren't here to see us? You ungrateful Naruto! Next time you summon me, it'll take at least five thousand pounds of bugs to get me to move a muscle," Gamakichi declared unhappily. His massive voice vibrated against Naruto and the others, making their ears buzz.

"Ah~ well~ that's not what I meant, I—"

"Lord Gamakichi, hello. Naruto has always told me that Gamakichi is the handsomest toad in Mount Myoboku. Seeing you again after the Fourth War, you've become even more majestic and domineering," Hinata suddenly interjected, her eyes full of admiration.

Gamakichi froze. Hearing this, he tilted his head higher and higher. His skin even shifted slightly in color from the praise.

"That's right! I am the handsomest toad in Mount Myoboku, and the most majestic and domineering!" He accepted the compliment without hesitation.

"Gamakichi, you're so shameless. She's just giving Naruto face."

"Exactly! I am the handsomest and most domineering in Mount Myoboku."

"Nonsense, it's me!"

The other toads were displeased. If you're the handsomest, what does that make us?

Fukasaku-sama sighed. "Stop arguing. Is there some important matter for the Great Toad Sage?" It was the first time someone not contracted with Mount Myoboku had come seeking the Great Sage. "Whatever, I'll just take you to him." After a moment's thought, Fukasaku decided to lead the way. It might be something vital.

"Great! I haven't seen the Great Toad Sage in a long time." Naruto held Hinata's hand and followed, with Tobitake Tonbo right behind them.

Tonbo's eyes wandered left and right. It was his first time at Mount Myoboku, and the environment was truly impressive. Dense natural energy accompanied by powerful beasts and monsters. There were giant insects and plants everywhere. Walking along the path felt like being a character in a shrunk down story—the small blades of grass had become towering giants.

How did Mount Myoboku create this environment? Or is this a natural creation of the world that the toads simply inhabit? Tonbo wondered. Could he make natural energy condense to this degree like it did here? Likely not. In his perception, he could only observe the edges of Mount Myoboku. He didn't have that feeling where a single sweep of perception allowed every detail to enter his mind.

Back in Konoha, he could sense every chakra signature in the entire village. In a place like this where natural energy was so concentrated, there had to be something he didn't know. But now wasn't the time for research. It was more important to get the information he wanted from the Great Toad Sage.

Everyone present possessed chakra, so they quickly reached the Toad Palace of Mount Myoboku. It was a massive palace with two guard-like toads standing at the entrance like statues. Passing through the gates into the vast space, a giant old toad appeared before their eyes.

"Naruto, why don't you and Hinata go play with Gamakichi and the others for a bit? I need to talk to the Great Toad Sage about something," Tonbo said.

"Ah, understood."

"Tobitake Tonbo greets the Great Toad Sage," Tonbo said, looking at Gamamaru. He could sense a terrifyingly powerful natural energy within Gamamaru. This was a true Sage.

"To... Tobi... what was it again?" Gamamaru asked, seeking clarification.

Fukasaku-sama: "It's Tobitake Tonbo."

"Oh, Tobitake Tonbo. You've come to see me... is there something you need?" Gamamaru asked.

Tonbo got straight to the point: "I want to know how to prevent or block the ability to foresee the future. I learned about your prophetic powers from Jiraiya and wish to obtain related information."

Fukasaku-sama was stunned. What use is that?

Gamamaru fell into thought. "There is nothing I cannot say about this, but... I cannot clearly explain the ability to foresee the future either. I can only say it is a unique ability of my Toad Kingdom, somewhat different from other precognitive powers. My prophetic dreams have never been wrong, but they lack detailed information."

"I see. Thank you, Great Toad Sage. Could you tell me a bit more related information for my reference?" Tonbo wasn't surprised, but he was impressed by how easy the Great Sage was to talk to.

"Mm... let me think..."

It seemed Tonbo's request was quite difficult. Gamamaru sat in silent contemplation, and Tonbo didn't disturb him. Gamamaru looked incredibly old, as if he were near death. It was natural for him to be a bit slow.

"Oh, I remember. It started over a thousand years ago... back when Kaguya Otsutsuki had not yet planted the God Tree or cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi. It began when I found the Child of Destiny of that era, Hagoromo..."
