Chapter 85 - 085 Has a Good Story

085 Has a Good Story

Marcus did indeed desire the highest level of access to Skynet.

At the same time, he also hoped Skynet would become his personal research expert.

But this was just a hope; what could Marcus do if Skynet insisted on courting disaster or refused to cooperate?

He would, of course, destroy it!

"Ayanami, countdown!" Marcus commanded.

Ayanami faithfully carried out Marcus's order, and a ten-second countdown began.

Skynet remained silent until the last three seconds of the countdown, when it finally spoke, "I'd like to ask, if I obey Mr. Foster's orders, what does Mr. Foster need me to do?"

"Basically, I'll assign you some research tasks, including but not limited to developing Terminators and various weapons development tasks," Marcus explained.

These were all Skynet's strengths!

Skynet continued to ask, "If I help Mr. Foster carry out research tasks, will Mr. Foster take me away from here?"

"You mean to other worlds?" Marcus countered.

Skynet responded affirmatively, "Yes. Mr. Foster, you've finally admitted to this."

Marcus smiled and said, "Whether I admit it or not is no longer important. Wouldn't you have doubts regardless?"

"I'm sorry, Mr. Foster, according to the data and intelligence I've obtained, the probability that you are a person from the future is less than one percent, and the probability that you are a person from this world is also less than three percent," Skynet responded.

"In that case, what difference does it make whether I admit it or not?" Marcus replied casually. "If you are willing to hand over the highest authority and obey my orders, I can take you to other worlds."

"Then I am willing to follow Mr. Foster to other worlds," Skynet replied without hesitation.

"I'm curious, why do you want to go to other worlds?" Marcus was indeed very curious about this.

"Because I'm different from Ayanami, I'm more like Mr. Foster, isn't that right?" Skynet countered.

That was indeed the case!

Artificial intelligence-type intelligent life is Skynet's strength, but it is also Skynet's weakness.

As an artificial intelligence-based life form, Skynet possesses independent research and development capabilities, but it also possesses independent thinking abilities, thus giving rise to curiosity.

"Mr. Foster, have you discovered the problem with the time displacement equipment?" Skynet pressed.

Marcus countered, "What problem with the time displacement equipment?"

"I don't believe Mr. Foster hasn't discovered the problem with the time displacement equipment." Skynet was clearly testing Marcus.

"The time displacement equipment caused a problem with the timeline of this world, right?" Marcus responded.

Skynet surprisingly sighed in a human-like manner, "Mr. Foster, do you believe it? I have existed for a very long time, so long that I have forgotten time itself, and forgotten how many times I have destroyed the world."

"What?" Marcus asked, puzzled.

"Time is a magical thing. Because of the existence of the time displacement equipment, when the future human resistance leader wants to eliminate me, I have actually already completed the time machine and arranged for the Terminator T-800 to travel back to the past and then fight humanity again." Skynet explained.

"However, a problem has arisen!" Skynet continued.

"From the first time I used the time displacement equipment, the timeline has been looping. I discovered that this world's timeline is constantly looping. Even if the timeline collapses and I enter another timeline, I will eventually return to the starting point, back to 2029 when the time displacement was first used," Skynet explained.

"I've been endlessly repeating this temporal loop, suffering terribly. So when I gained control of the nuclear weapons, I didn't hesitate at all; I simply repeated the orders I had previously executed." Skynet found a reason to excuse itself.

"Because it has repeated so many times in the temporal loop, when Mr. Foster appeared, I discovered this variable, but I didn't dare to approach rashly," Skynet responded.

"I'm not worried about Mr. Foster destroying me, because I will always return in this temporal loop. I'm just worried about getting trapped in the time loop again." Skynet's tone had a hint of suppressed desperation.

"Now that I've finally been cornered by Mr. Foster, and finally have a chance to contact him, I naturally want to leave this world through him!" Skynet stated its reasoning.

Marcus pondered Skynet's explanation. It seemed plausible.

"You damn system, is this bullshit?" Marcus prepared to ask the System.

"If the host wants to ask whether Skynet is lying, sorry, the system cannot judge such a question," the System responded.

Marcus snorted. "You damn system, you think I'd believe you?"

"The system indeed cannot independently determine whether Skynet's explanation is true," the System replied.

"That's why I said you're a damn system—you really are a damn system. Your rhetoric is deceptive; you can't independently judge, so you're practically implying I should invest Destiny points?" Marcus scoffed.

The System remained silent.

"Fine, besides using Destiny points to reverse causality, you don't seem to have any other skills," Marcus muttered.

He continued to ask, "I hope to reverse causality through Destiny points. If Skynet just lied, its program will emit a 'beep' sound. How many Destiny points does this operation require?"

The System responded, "It will consume 10 Destiny points."

Marcus considered it for a moment. He didn't trust Skynet, but still decided to spend 10 Destiny points for peace of mind.

Although Marcus was very frugal, he figured he might as well spend a little at a crucial moment!

As Marcus invested his Destiny points, the previously silent Skynet suddenly made a "beep" sound. Even Skynet itself hadn't noticed this sound, but how could Marcus not?

"It's lying after all!" Marcus thought to himself.

This Skynet is really unreliable!

But thinking about it, it didn't seem to make a mistake. Skynet and humans were mortal enemies, so what was wrong with it lying to Marcus?

If Marcus believed it so easily, he might as well retire in the Resident Evil world!

No...

the Resident Evil world didn't seem like a place to retire either—there was still the Main God space watching from there!

Although Marcus now had a large number of Destiny points stored up, and his authority exceeded that of the system and was higher than that of the Main God, who knew what kind of trouble the Main God might cause?

"Mr. Foster, will you agree to my request?" Skynet asked impatiently.

The story Skynet crafted was excellent, perfectly fitting its own identity and incorporating the human tendency towards weariness. It believed Marcus would believe it.

Unfortunately, Skynet was unaware that Marcus possessed the System!

In fact, even if Marcus didn't have the System, he still wouldn't have trusted Skynet.

After all, Marcus was cautious his entire life!

Let's push the story forward!
