Chapter 20: Fire Answered with Fire
The studio lights of The Silent Heart usually cast an artistic warmth, but this morning, their glow felt harsh, as if every filament was judging Scarlett. The gossip about her family from Carmel, twisted by Selena's cold hands, still lingered in every corner of the room.
Scarlett stood in the middle of the set, wearing a thin silk dress for the film's climax scene. She was supposed to portray Elara at her breaking point, yet in truth, she did not need to act much. The devastation had already seeped into her pores.
"Scene thirty-two, take one. Action!" the director shouted.
Scarlett began to move, delivering her lines with raw emotion. But as she stepped toward the center of the room, the sharp crack of metal broke the silence. A large spotlight above her suddenly tilted. Its steel cable snapped with a horrifying sound.
"Watch out!" someone screamed.
