Chapter 195: Xiao Yi Xian's Background
"Why are you calling me a beast?"
Xiao Yan scratched his head in confusion.
Calling this young master a beast? Be careful, or I'll show you what a real beast is!
"Why?"
Xiao Yi Xian stared at him with indignation, then turned her gaze toward Qing Lin, who stood nearby, timid and shy.
"I can understand you being a bit lecherous. A strong man having multiple wives is something I can tolerate. But you how could you lay your hands on such a young girl? Are you even human?"
Her usually clear eyes now shimmered with a hint of anger and sorrow.
"Dammit…" Xiao Yan's face darkened.
"What kind of person do you take me for?" He slapped Xiao Yi Xian lightly on the rear, this time not holding back. Xiao Yi Xian yelped in pain.
"This girl is named Qing Lin. She has no parents and was being bullied when I found her in the desert. I pitied her, so I brought her with me."
Hearing this, Xiao Yi Xian froze for a moment, then hid her hands nervously behind her back, her face filled with guilt.
"I I'm sorry! I didn't mean it like that!"
"Sorry?"
"Do you think an apology is enough to make things right?" Xiao Yan shot her a dissatisfied look.
"My reputation is practically ruined, and you think a simple 'sorry' will fix it?"
"Then… then what do you want me to do?" Xiao Yi Xian pouted, her rosy lips forming a pitiful expression.
It was a sight few men could resist: a pure and lovely girl acting coquettishly.
"I'll deal with you later tonight!" Xiao Yan shot her a fierce look, causing her cheeks to flush with embarrassment.
"Come here, Qing Lin," Xiao Yan said, turning toward the green haired girl. "Let me introduce you. This is my wife. You can call her Xiao Yi Xian, or Big Sister Xiao Yi Xian."
"X Xiao Yi Xian… Big Sister Xiao Yi Xian," Qing Lin stammered, her voice soft and nervous as her wide eyes darted toward Xiao Yi Xian.
Seeing that Xiao Yi Xian's face lacked the jealousy and hostility she had grown accustomed to from others, Qing Lin slowly relaxed.
For a moment, Xiao Yi Xian was taken aback, but then a gentle smile graced her lips. She reached out her jade like hand and gently patted Qing Lin's head.
"Don't be scared. From now on, you'll stay with me. I'll take good care of you," Xiao Yi Xian said warmly.
"You're an orphan too?" Xiao Yan asked, his curiosity piqued by Xiao Yi Xian's words.
She nodded softly, a hint of sadness flashing in her beautiful eyes.
"Yes. My mother passed away when I was born, and my father raised me by himself. He passed away when I was sixteen."
"I'm sorry. I didn't realize your past was so difficult," Xiao Yan said, his voice tinged with rare sympathy.
"It wasn't so bad," Xiao Yi Xian said with a faint smile. "My father was a physician for the Myriad Medicine Pavilion, working under Master Yao. In Green Mountain Town, he was well respected. My childhood wasn't rich, but it wasn't as pitiful as you'd imagine."
Her face softened as she spoke, the corners of her lips lifting into a smile tinged with warmth.
"Your father must have been a great man," Xiao Yan said softly.
Xiao Yi Xian blinked, then nodded firmly. Raising a daughter alone was no small feat. What made her father remarkable wasn't just his care but the loving and nurturing environment he provided.
It was this love that shaped Xiao Yi Xian into the bright and gentle woman she had become a woman admired by everyone in Green Mountain Town.
If not for the Woeful Poison Body, she might have lived a happy and peaceful life. That happiness wouldn't have been measured by material wealth but by the unyielding warmth in her heart and her love for life itself.
But Xiao Yan had met her early before tragedy could shape her future. With his foresight and strength, he was determined to protect her happiness and banish the shadow of the Woeful Poison Body.
"From now on, Qing Lin can stay with you," Xiao Yan said, a playful smile on his lips.
"Y you're leaving me?" Qing Lin's face paled, her voice trembling.
Having just escaped her tormentors, she clung to Xiao Yan like a lifeline.
"Who said that?" Xiao Yan laughed, ruffling her green hair. "I mean that I'll be traveling often and won't always be here to protect you."
"Don't you like Big Sister Xiao Yi Xian?"
"I… I don't know." Qing Lin shook her head, looking lost.
A girl like her parentless and powerless was like a fragile leaf adrift in the vast world, her fate dictated by the waves.
"Qing Lin, you're free now," Xiao Yan said gently. "You'll have your own life. While I've asked you to call me 'young master,' I've always thought of you as a little sister. From today onward, you must learn to live for yourself."
"I don't understand…" Qing Lin blinked, her big eyes full of confusion.
"Poor child," Xiao Yan sighed.
Growing up in such circumstances left scars insecurities and fears that wouldn't vanish overnight. Healing her would take time.
Even Xiao Yi Xian felt a pang of compassion as she looked at Qing Lin. Compared to herself, this girl's plight was even more heartbreaking.
"If you dare bully Qing Lin in the future, I won't forgive you," Xiao Yi Xian said, raising her pale fist in mock threat.
"Hehe, you'd better worry about how to beg for mercy tonight," Xiao Yan teased, a wicked grin spreading across his face.
One sentence was enough to shatter Xiao Yi Xian's composure. The memory of their earlier intimacy turned her cheeks crimson.
Seeing her flustered reaction, Xiao Yan suddenly pulled her into his arms again.
"Do you remember the technique I told you about to control your Woeful Poison Body?"
"Yes, but didn't you say it required three types of Heavenly Flames?" Xiao Yi Xian replied, her brows furrowing in thought.
"Have you already gathered all three flames?" she asked, her eyes widening in disbelief.
