HARPER
The anger in his voice only made the guilt I was trying to suppress spread even further.
Julian cursed under his breath. I caught fragments of what he said. Something about me not being truthful and always hiding things from him but I chose to ignore them.
It wasn't his fault anyway. It was mine.
I had told him I was going to see Clara. Even though he had agreed I could meet Dominic yesterday, I hadn't told him it would be today.
"Harper!" Julian growled when I stayed silent.
I forced a smile, even though he couldn't see it, and stared out the window away from Dominic. "Just send me the hospital address. I'll be there."
"But you didn't answer my—"
I ended the call before he could finish. I was tired of hearing him talk. If we were going to argue, it wouldn't be in front of Dominic.
The moment the line went dead, Dominic spoke.
"What's wrong with my daughter?" he asked, his voice tight.
I didn't answer.
