HARPER
"Court?" I whispered, my voice barely audible as I stared at Dominic, shock and confusion crashing into each other.
I shook my head, swallowing hard when he didn't respond. He just kept looking at me, like he was assessing how well I could process the madness he had just dropped on me.
"I never said they were your children," I murmured, shifting slightly in my seat. "Why would you even take me to court?"
Dominic's eyes narrowed, his jaw tightening. "I'm not playing this game with you, Harper. I already told you. I ran a test on Lila, and it came back positive. The DNA is right there in front of you."
"Well, I don't accept it!" I shot back, my voice rising as I threw the documents onto the seat beside me.
My chest tightened as I looked at him, and once again, that familiar feeling surfaced—anger, tangled with something deeper, something heavier.
"You hate me," Dominic said quietly, as if reading straight through me.
