MHGA Chapter 387 – Purge Operation

"Kazuma?" Kairo Retsu replied coldly. "Who?"

"Fight me! Let's throw down right now!" Kazuma clenched his fists and lunged at Kairo.

"Stop. Just kidding," Kairo intercepted Kazuma mid-leap and shifted to a serious tone. "Anyway—the arrival of Walpurgisnacht and Shagaru Magala is imminent."

"As for Gore Magala… as much as I hate to say it, there's a high chance it's already been killed by Shagaru Magala. It's likely lying dormant somewhere now," Kairo sighed. Then he added, "To prevent any unforeseen incidents, we need to eliminate all potential variables across Mitakihara City before Walpurgisnacht appears. Also… we need to prevent any additional magical girls from entering the city."

"There are that many magical girls in Madoka's world?" Naofumi Iwatani asked gravely.

Kairo thought for a moment. "There's no small number. At the very least, I know of a ton from spinoff works. How many of them were deceived by Kyubey is anyone's guess."

"And Kyubey itself is on the list of things to purge."

Kairo clapped his hands, and a team of Felynes rolled out a tactical board. A detailed map of Mitakihara City was pinned to it.

"What we do know is the likely appearance point of Walpurgisnacht, and the current locations of witches around the city." Kairo smacked his hand onto the map. "Before today ends, we're suiting up in our best gear and wiping out all witches, familiars, and any Kyubeys acting as Incubator surveillance nodes."

"The Winged Lion is ready. While we begin the purge, it'll use its magic to convert Mitakihara City into a 'Dungeon,'" Kairo circled a large area on the map. "This way, Kyubey's influence will be suppressed within the zone. We won't be under its surveillance anymore."

"But Kyubey will definitely notice the abnormality. During that time, it may try to deceive other magical girls into entering the city to investigate or attack. That's why we need a portion of the team to patrol the Dungeon perimeter."

"The Winged Lion will mark any magical girls who enter the Dungeon for us. Once that happens, we'll capture them. You all understand their capabilities—you should be able to subdue them without endangering their lives."

Kairo drew a smaller circle on the map. "This is where Walpurgisnacht is expected to appear. The Winged Lion created a barrier mimicking a witch's labyrinth here. The Felyne Engineering Corps has already constructed a fortress designed for Elder Dragon combat within it."

"In the coming days, the Winged Lion will continue generating pseudo-witch barriers in the surrounding areas. The Felynes will install additional anti-dragon mechanisms inside them."

"When Walpurgisnacht appears, the Felynes will destroy the cores of the pseudo-barriers, releasing the anti-dragon mechanisms inside. By that time, civilians should already be evacuated—our battle won't be heavily disrupted."

"But there's still one thing we must remain cautious of." Kairo pointed at the map. "In magical girl lore, there's a detail: a used Grief Seed—that is, a Soul Gem that once turned into a witch—can still become a witch again if it's reinfused with despair."

"This is likely why magical girls are constantly fighting witches," Kairo's voice was calm, but his hand on his arm was clenched. "Once Kyubey realizes Mitakihara has broken free of its control, we might be facing an overwhelming surge of new witches."

"Witches… are they strong?" David asked, slightly puzzled.

He'd been busy in his own world lately and hadn't seen a witch firsthand.

"For the average witch…" Kairo thought for a bit. "Let me put it this way: before she became the Devil Homura, Homura Akemi was taking them out using only firearms."

"Oh!" With that benchmark, most of the group got a pretty good grasp of how powerful witches were.

"No problem then! Just in time to test out my new cyberware!" David cracked his knuckles, clearly excited.

"…How much more have you modded yourself?" Kairo glanced at David's noticeably more jacked frame. "Is Night City's cyberware even enough for your hunts? Your body's already stronger than most of the implants."

"Honestly? Hardware can't keep up," David said, spreading his hands helplessly. "But I brought back a bunch of monster parts and materials from here. Uncle Falco had some folks do research, so…"

He clapped his hands, and small Draconic Flamethrower pods popped out of his forearms, along with several auxiliary robotic arms to help steady weapons and fine-tune aim.

"Once your body can handle it… you can install even more cyberware!" A cascade of implants activated across David's frame, some infused with Monster Hunter materials and tech. The power fluctuations they gave off were enough to make Heavy Bowgun mains call insane.

"I still think this method—using cyberware to enhance combat—is perfect for someone like me from a Cyberpunk background," David grinned warmly. "I've got limited access to Potions and such, but Arasaka's already researching a micro-dose auto-injector for healing meds. Just in case my regenerated body tries to eject the implants…"

Suddenly remembering something, David dashed out of the room and returned lugging a large case.

"Also got some smart tech like night vision scopes and binoculars! Uncle Falco made sure they don't need to be implanted—should help with hunting…"

"Is this… the power of megacorporations?" Kairo's mouth twitched as he looked at the fully loaded David, but at the same time, he felt proud of how far the hunters in the Gathering Hub had come.

None of the hunters had become complacent. Each pursued their own path, and the entire Gathering Hub bloomed with diverse strengths.

"How about you, Rakuro and Shirou? You two shouldn't have a problem with witches or magical girls either, right?" Kairo looked at the pair.

"Of course not!" Rakuro gave a thumbs-up.

"I can handle it," Shirou Emiya nodded firmly.

"Great! Then—suit up! Armor on!" Kairo waved his hand. "Mission begins now!"

"Ikuzo!!"

At that moment, Kyubey was still wandering the streets of Mitakihara City, quietly searching for girls to contract with—completely unaware that a full-scale purge operation was already heading straight for the city…
