MHGA Chapter 324: Gore Magala
For everyone present—including Kairo Retsu—this was their first time witnessing Gore Magala's true form.
That dragon, shrouded in blackness and exuding madness, supported itself with its third pair of wing-legs and moved in a six-limbed crawling stance.
And the length of the Gore Magala before them… just at a glance, Kairo Retsu estimated it had reached a full 22 meters.
This was already the maximum recorded size for Gore Magala in hunter archives.
But what concerned Kairo most of all—
Why was there a faint glint of gold peeking through on the forehead of this Gore Magala?
That sheer bulk—those wing-legs thicker than its limbs—when unfurled, shed Frenzy Virus in slanted waves down its wings like the very veil of night itself.
To the humans standing before it, so tiny in comparison, its wings blotted out the sky like a living eclipse.
"No one told me we'd be dealing with something this ridiculous," Yuuya Mirokuji muttered, his previously flippant tone replaced by grim seriousness.
Even with their massive mechas, Selesia and Rui Kanoya were awestruck by the Gore Magala's entrance.
Altair's composed, rational emergence stood in stark contrast to the frenzied monstrosity beside her—as if the juxtaposition itself could tear the viewer's mind apart.
Gore Magala's arrival had also been caught by the Birdcage's pre-installed cameras and was now broadcasting to the command center at the event site.
The Creators—and the few other hunters who had just arrived—witnessed the dragon's entrance.
"So that's the true form of the mysterious virus…" Akira Kikuchihara murmured as she stared at the footage of the roaring Gore Magala. "Just as that hunter described… a terrifying entity."
Now, Sakura and Madoka finally understood why Kairo Retsu hadn't let them participate in this battle—instead asking them to observe from safety. This was not an enemy one could face without thorough psychological preparation.
"Momika, you and that other one… Kazuma, was it? Why are you both here instead of on the front lines?" Meteora asked, eyeing the resurrected Mamika Kouzuki and the fully armed Kazuma beside her.
"Because there's something just as important we need to handle here," Mamika took a deep breath. "Once it's settled, I'll head there immediately… So please, regarding Alicetaria—I'm counting on you."
Alicetaria February—the Pegasus-riding knight.
She currently stood with Altair, but was a Creation who might rebel at any moment.
Her Creator, Gai Takarada, was also present now.
"Yeah." He took a long breath and said with a conflicted look, "We will. Please, do the same."
"Oi, just a heads-up," Kazuma cut in, speaking to Mamika. "I'm not planning to make a direct appearance. After all, straight-up fighting isn't my forte. But if you start screwing up your lines, I'll step in."
Kazuma knew exactly why he and Mamika had come here—it was all to confront Makagami Chikujouin, the terrifying character with the power to reverse lies into truths.
Mamika intended to face the one who deceived Alicetaria head-on—and Kairo Retsu had supported her resolve.
Kazuma's job was support.
Don't let Mamika say something wrong.
Don't let Chikujouin escape in the end. Don't let her stay in this world.
That was his responsibility.
"Once we finalize the footage of Altair's arrival, we'll queue the opening animation!" Kikuchihara began coordinating the broadcast. "We need to show our support for the frontlines in our own way too."
"The battle—has begun!"
————————————
"Laios!! I'm counting on you for recon!"
Kairo Retsu slung his Great Sword across his back and charged forward with a shout: "The hunt is on!"
"You've been chasing that thing all this time?" Altair's gaze fixed on the charging Kairo Retsu, blades materializing at her side. With a sweep, she unleashed them in a spiraling volley toward the hunters, blanketing the area in a storm of projectiles. "Today, everything will reach its conclusion. All that was once obscured by malice and terror… shall be reversed."
Most of those present opted to dodge the attack, but several hunters pressed forward even under fire.
Kairo's initial shout had kicked their crude battle plan into motion.
Laios darted into a nearby building, seeking an elevated vantage point from which to observe the Gore Magala and provide vital intel for the rest.
The nimble Tanjiro and Youraku followed Selesia's team to safer ground.
Naofumi Iwatani, however, raised his shield without hesitation and unleashed his signature technique: "Aura Shield!"
A series of massive energy shields emerged in midair, colliding with Altair's summoned blades and producing a cascade of sparks.
But that alone wasn't enough to block her assault.
Naofumi stepped forward again. "Shield of the Daimyo Hermitaur!"
Taking this chance, he tested his newly crafted monster-based shield.
The Four Cardinal Weapon began to morph—its surface shimmering until it transformed into a phantom construct.
A massive ghostly crab bearing a skeletal shell appeared, taking position in front of the hunters and absorbing the rest of Altair's attack.
And behind that spectral shield, Himmel drew his sword, stepped off Naofumi's shoulder, and launched himself forward. Kicking off the vanishing illusion, he shot straight toward Altair.
Joseph and Kairo exchanged a glance behind Naofumi.
Joseph summoned Hermit Purple to his hand. "So what now? Should I just charge her with Hermit Purple?"
"How would I know? Why don't you go find a camera?" Kairo replied. "You're better off helping Mirokuji with the less insane parts of the battle… I'm going to help deal with the Gore Magala!"
These scenes, too, were being captured by cameras modified through the Recognition Force—and transmitted live to the event site for all to see.
