MHGA Chapter 323: The Princess and the Dragon

Just as Kairo Retsu had predicted, Altair was at that very moment observing the unfolding events through her own abilities.

The completed Birdcage, the venue filled with people—every detail was reflected in Altair's gaze.

"A battle of fate… Whether it's between me and this world, or between you and those hunters—this is destiny," Altair murmured. "If that's the case… then all is prepared. I'll grant you your wish."

Altair rose to her feet.

Not far behind her, several of her fellow Creations stood in the shadows, their expressions varied, thoughts divergent.

And behind the Military Uniform Princess herself… from the deepest, darkest shadows, a hulking form emerged—its steps heavy and deliberate. A cloaked dragon-like figure strode forth, lowering its enormous serpentine head beside Altair with a calm gesture.

"It seems its pain has lessened somewhat," Altair said, still using her Holopsicon to ease the Gore Magala's suffering. "If that's the case… then it's time for those people to face their final fate."

——

Shortly after Altair's decision, Akira Kikuchihara's team confirmed via satellite the rapid approach of Altair and her forces toward the designated battlefield.

"Enemy Altair confirmed. Hostile Alicetaria at her side," one of the operators reported. "One giant winged entity detected, unidentified Creation present, one other drive system… images partially obscured by cloud mass. Target bearing: 80 degrees. Distance: 13 nautical miles. Speed: 90 knots. Altitude: 11,000 feet…"

The moment the information came in, Kikuchihara broadcast the update across the operation. The event site staff began warming up the live stream, queuing the special background animation they had prepared in advance.

"Ah…"

At that same moment, within the Birdcage, Kairo Retsu's Scoutfly Lamp at his waist suddenly lit up. Several Scoutflies shot into the air, forming a glowing blue trail.

"Looks like our target is now within detection range," Kairo said as he tracked the Scoutflies' path.

The sky was gradually darkening. Nightfall was coming…

Altair favored moving under cover of night. Likewise, Gore Magala hunted and fought best in the shadows.

Soon, everyone could see a single light rapidly approaching along the Scoutfly trail.

As it neared, the object suddenly decelerated… revealing its true form.

A cascade of white hair like a waterfall. A strange military-style uniform. An expression that made it seem as though everything was within her expectations.

Military Uniform Princess Altair looked down at them all with a faint smile and offered a courteous bow.

"It's been a while, everyone. It seems… you've prepared a grand feast in our honor."

The moment Altair entered the zone, the Birdcage activated through the Recognition Force, sealing the battlefield into a one-way arena: entry permitted, exit impossible.

Selesia shouted at her from across the battlefield: "You're the ones who vanished to who-knows-where! I thought you'd run off and disappeared!"

"Well then… let us begin." Altair's smile remained serene. "Whether it's us, or you… or all those chaotic participants watching us for amusement…"

As she spoke, from the darkened sky behind her, a massive shadow came plummeting at high speed.

Simultaneously, Kairo Retsu's Scoutfly Lamp began to agitate violently.

The previously blue tracking light turned blood-red in an instant—clearly signaling a dangerous warning.

The leaden-gray clouds were suddenly torn apart by a pair of wings. Gore Magala descended, wreathed in abyssal violet miasma. Its wings retracted as it dropped, its massive body crashing to the earth like a meteorite, shaking the entire district as though it had been struck by a falling star.

The asphalt cracked outward in a radial pattern on impact, fractured pipes erupting in ten-meter geysers of mud. Neon signs shattered in a spray of sparks, streetlights exploded, and beer bottles in convenience store displays burst one after another. Tempered glass storefronts splintered like shotgun blasts, reducing interiors to shredded debris.

"BOOM—!"

The shockwave spread out in rings, flipping three sedans that had already been overturned. The roiling frenzy of the Frenzy Virus practically took physical form in the air. When it opened its gaping maw filled with jagged teeth, the air itself was sucked inward—before a black fog-infused roar tore across the street.

The pressure and volume of the sound were immense—painful. Glass skyscrapers on either side shattered in unison, as if struck by invisible hammers. Beer coolers detonated. Steel doors became lethal projectiles. The entire block was wrecked in seconds.

Gore Magala… the most insane of all monsters.

Its very existence was a blasphemy against reason. The Frenzy Virus it carried not only corrupted others—it corroded even its own mind.

And now it had fallen from the heavens, landing beside Altair, and roared once more at the people ahead.

This time, its roar was laced with violet madness. The Frenzy Virus exploded outward with the sonic blast, spreading in all directions.

"Well then… your story has now begun, hasn't it?"

Altair remained calm, bowing again. "Come now, let us resume our tale."

As she spoke, the Gore Magala behind her unfurled its massive wings—each one like a monstrous limb.

Like a pitch-black cloak, its wing membranes gave the beast the appearance of a dark avenger, standing protectively behind Altair. The wings unfurled like rippling onyx silk, their surfaces covered in fine scales that shimmered with a steel-like gleam under the faint light.

"So then, where is the knight who dares to slay the dragon?" Altair asked with a smile. "And who is the hero who dares oppose evil?"

"MD… Giant-class individual," Kairo muttered under his breath as he observed the colossal Gore Magala. "That size… and it's still just a Gore Magala?"

"It's grown this much and still hasn't become a Shagaru Magala?"

He grumbled, then took a step forward.

"Very well."

Altair smiled as she saw him move.

"Those who would obstruct my wish to change the world… must be eliminated."
