"What did you say?" Aiden Grant furrowed his brows, looking at Lily Shaw with a gaze mixed with surprise, seemingly not quite understanding.
But deep within those brown eyes lay a hidden admiration that Lily Shaw couldn't see. He hadn't expected that this little woman on the opposite side, after suffering such a huge blow, could still let her mind operate so freely.
Lily Shaw smiled softly and repeated, "Young Master Grant, we only hold the wedding, not register the marriage. If you agree, we can enter the chapel right now. If not, we walk away separately."
Aiden Grant looked at Lily Shaw incredulously, unexpectedly seeing her smile, his heartbeat quickened. The beautiful eyes of Lily Shaw, once soaked in tears, was giving in a rare compromise.
"Alright." When Eldest Young Master Grant lowered his head, the corner of his mouth curled into a sinister smile. Only hold the wedding without registering the marriage? Very well, extremely well!
If his group of scoundrel friends knew that Eldest Young Master Grant had compromised, they'd probably hug each other and shout, "How is that possible?"
It had always been others who would compromise to Eldest Young Master Grant, yet faced with Lily Shaw, he chose to compromise for the first time.
"Miss Shaw, to ensure the protection of our respective rights, I believe it's necessary to sign an agreement before the wedding." Aiden Grant smiled faintly, then suddenly grew serious as he spoke.
Lily Shaw looked up at him, the name of Eldest Young Master Grant was too well-known. Who didn't know that this man was someone who devours without leaving bones? She also needed an agreement to protect her rights.
Lily Shaw smiled again, proactively extending her hand to Aiden Grant: "Eldest Young Master Grant, I hope our cooperation goes smoothly."
"Smooth cooperation." Aiden Grant held onto her wrist, not releasing it for a full three minutes before reluctantly letting go.
Ten minutes later, Lily Shaw, in a resplendent floor-length wedding dress, had her makeup redone, with no trace of her previous despair and helplessness. At this moment, she was sharp and shrewd, bowing her head to look at the freshly drafted marriage agreement, turning page after page. Upon reaching the last page, her delicate brows furrowed: "Eldest Young Master Grant, shouldn't this be amended? We agreed to only have the wedding and not register it."
"Hmm?" A flash of anger passed through Aiden Grant's eyes, but he was always skilled at hiding his emotions. Opposite him, Lily Shaw, engrossed in the documents, did not notice anything strange.
"Miss Shaw, you wouldn't be so naive as to think that our wedding is just child's play, would you? The Grant Family's reputation and the Lowell Family's reputation all hinge on this wedding. Without a marriage certificate, how could they possibly be convinced?" Aiden Grant looked at Lily Shaw with a sarcastic glance. Did this foolish woman truly believe he agreed to that nonsense request of "only holding a wedding without registering it"?
"Is that so? Then, I suppose Eldest Young Master Grant never had any genuine intention of cooperating." Lily Shaw smiled, shook her head, and got up to leave.
Ten minutes was sufficient time for her to calm down. Accepting Aiden Grant's proposal for a flash wedding earlier was her being overly impulsive.
How could the wise and intelligent Eldest Young Master Grant truly accompany her in madness? Look, within a mere ten minutes, the nature of this sly wolf was exposed!
Lily Shaw turned her head, looking at her small hand being held by a large hand, she forced a smile and said, "Eldest Young Master Grant, what are you doing?"
"Miss Shaw, I would like you to sit back down and carefully look at the last page. Our marriage will last for one year, and after a year, both men and women will marry as they choose, and have nothing further to do with each other." Aiden Grant said, with a cigarette in his mouth, looking at her cryptically.
