Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Selling One's Daughter for Wealth

Lily Shaw suddenly froze, her eyes red and swollen yet still lively. She was shocked by the words spoken, unable to recover for a long while.

"Ha…" After regaining her senses, Lily's first reaction was a cold laugh, without even a trace of additional rebuke.

No matter whether Eldest Young Master Grant was telling the truth or not, she knew she had fallen into a trap, a trap meticulously dug by someone just waiting for her to jump in!

Her hesitation and struggle turned out to be a joke, even more laughable than her wedding with Miles Morgan.

Thinking about this, no matter how calm and rational Lily had been, she couldn't help herself now: "Eldest Young Master Grant, since this is the case, why bother with such an act? Is watching me being torn fun?"

"Fun?" Aiden Grant's eyes darkened. Did this little woman think he was deliberately toying with her?

He had never treated marriage lightly, yet he was being questioned by his newlywed wife, his fingers clasping tighter and tighter, even emitting a frightening creaking sound.

How many times has she made him angry? He had tolerated her time and again, forcing himself to stay calm, so as not to scare her.

But she, however, kept challenging his patience, even wanting to marry another man!

The jealousy flared, comparable to gasoline dousing Aiden's jealousy-fueled mind, leading to dire consequences.

Lily Shaw noticed that the temperature in the thirty-square-foot room suddenly dropped several degrees, and then she keenly observed that the man opposite was angry, which she found amusing.

She, the woman fooled into a marriage, wasn't angry; what right did he, the big liar, have to be angry?

"In your heart, am I just someone who loves playing games?" Aiden Grant flawlessly hid his emotions, only his lips slightly twitching upon seeing her mocking gaze.

Lily Shaw gave a distant smile, her whole aura changing, her timid little woman image transformed into that of a queenly diva.

"Eldest Young Master Grant, will this year-long game really end after a year? As long as you keep your promise, I don't mind cooperating with you."

"Ha." The angrier Eldest Young Master Grant got, the calmer he appeared, yet this 'ha' betrayed the earth-shattering rage beneath his calm facade.

Lily Shaw could hear a deeply suppressed anger within, like the kind before a storm, ready to transform into a gale and torrential rain in an instant.

"Miss Shaw, do you want to know who took your household registration book, and when they handed it to me?" Aiden Grant suddenly had a crazy idea of shattering Lily Shaw's calm demeanor.

He wanted to see her curled up in his arms, sobbing, gazing at him with eyes of dependence, those gentle little hands tightly clutching his shirt.

He wanted to wrap this overly rational woman tightly in his embrace, consume her completely, and entangle with her through the night.

"Justin Shaw, right? What I want to know more is, what did he trade to sell me off?" Lily Shaw seemed unsurprised, not at all shocked that Justin Shaw would sell his daughter for glory.

"You're calmer upon hearing this news than I imagined." Aiden Grant looked at her, abruptly shifting his tone to continue in a level manner: "A castle worth three hundred million and a Regal Group half a percentage point bonus. Miss Shaw, what do you think of this price?"

"How does Eldest Young Master Grant feel? This price bought my year of freedom, do you find it worthwhile?" Lily Shaw asked calmly, though she hadn't expected Justin Shaw could sell her for such a good price.
