Edmund's POV
"I literally came here with nothing," she whispered. The realisation that dawned on me hurt me more than I had imagined.
The fact that this issue was never raised before was such a damning revelation. Here I thought I was only trying to escape from facing the real problem, only to have it thrown back in my face.
I sighed at the thought of how one problem arose one after the other. It was beginning to weigh me down when I was already at the end of my tether. I feared I could no longer hold the fort.
The scraping of her chair caught my attention, looking up to see where she was going. Internally, I was filled with madness wondering whether she had gone fed up with me. That she wanted to up and leave.
"Why are you sighing? Are you upset?" She rested her hands on my shoulders, massaging the knots rather awkwardly. Yet her touch alone brought me comfort. A great one that almost broke me into pieces.
